Mine is registered in September 93 (L reg) has a coil pack and came with red VR6 badges. Although they are now silver :-)

Thanks!!!

Good work here - mine's in the same condition. Where did you get the foam from, is it still available from VAG?

StueyBs '95 VR6: Thread resurrection circa 2011...

So where is it then dood? I'm back too!!! -
Oh its shiny - where there's paint! The front is peppered in stone chips and there is the odd dent here and there. I'd like to remove the rubbing strips for a cleaner look, but part of one side got resprayed years ago (before I had it) and they didn't remove the strips so the lacquer is peeling near where they masked. Annoying.

Its amazing how good a preservative garage dust is! Hahahaa.

Its been a few years since I last posted on here, and its been over 2 years since I last used my Corrado. I had an intermittent starting issue with it around August 2013 and that with a combination of the birth of our 2nd child meant the C got stowed away in the garage...until a few weeks ago. I've managed to fix the issue, which was ECU related and last weekend I actually drove the car onto the drive way and gave it a much needed clean. I had plans on selling it, but now its working again and having been back on the forum my enthusiasm for it has returned, I bought the car way back in 1999, and this could be the 3rd wave of changes I make! The car has no MOT/Tax/Insurance, but I don't fancy doing this just to drive it during the winter, so I might wait until next year now, and maybe plan some improvements. I'm thinking engine rebuild and paint perhaps, we'll see. For now, here is how it looks (with a little POP from google photos, but the paint is very shiny!!!): The BBS RC's still look sweet, but I have my eye on some Schmidt Modern Lines, I need to itch that 9*16 look....

Stunning motor! Pretty much how I'd like mine to look like. I want these wheels also - 8.5 out back is a good choice IMO, what ET did you go for? Also, did you get all the arches rolled when you had the respray done?
-
Superb thread! Here's my contribution...
-
Well it looks like the issue is solved, but I didn't actively fix anything! I checked for voltage from the battery to the mount where the ECU is bolted, nothing. I tried this in all the various key positions and whilst the car was running. Odd. So I cleaned up the scuttle panel (a few years worth of leaves in there!) and mounted the ECU and bolted it back down. Started first time, each time, no problems. Annoying to say the least...

I don't think so - that would happen if I used the +VE terminal. OK thanks, will do.
-
This is a good point - I suppose I could connect a lead from the -VE on the battery to the ECU bracket to be safe? The car has been in the garage for a couple of years and so the ECU should be dry as a bone!
-
I did wonder this as I thought the car's chassis is effectively ground and so why would having the ECU case touch it cause a short - sounds like I have a short being caused elsewhere... If I have a short then I will try removing each fuse in turn to see if I can isolate the circuit causing it.
-
Ah, the plot thickens! I will do that test when I get home, thanks.
-
I was thinking I might have to make something up, bet VW don't make them anymore...
-
Does anyone know what this perished part should look like - is it the same as the other white clips shown in the pictures? I have no idea :-(
-
It made the most sense as it was the ecu relay that was clicking profusely, but all suggestions were worth investigation.
-
Dood - this was it!!! I removed the ECU from its mounts and rested it off the chassis and tick, tick, BOOM! Fired straight into life. I can't believe this was it. There was no plastic washer where the mount with the nut is. Completely gone! I'll take a trip to the garage tomorrow to see if I can get another washer/mount thingy. Thanks to everyone for their input!
-
Lovely, thanks chaps. I'll give these both a try too.
-
Done! I've not tried the ignition switch yet, can you still get them from VAG? It does sound like the pump is priming - relay 67 clicks over fine. Also, there is a big smell of fuel from the exhaust after a few turns, so seems like fuel is going in. There is definitely no spark so that's where I am going to concentrate my efforts for now. Thanks
-
No :-( I'll give that a try. The car is garaged and after a couple of tries there is a strong smell of petrol at the back which (I hope) is from the exhaust, so I think fuelling is ok. Thanks for the quick response, appreciated.
-
No. I guess I need to find out why the relay is clicking in the first place.
-
Ha! I only tried it briefly, a couple of turns of the key at best. I won't be driving anywhere because it won't start :-( I've tried a new relay and it still has the same symptoms as before.
-
I mean I wrapped some wire around the terminals to effectively hold the circuit closed - like what the relay should be doing.
-
I know this is an old thread but I currently have the same symptoms with my Corrado and I cannot work out why. The engine turns over fine, 109 ECU relay clicks on/off like mad, no apparent spark, but I can smell fuel in the exhaust. Tried bridging the relay but still nothing. Tried a new relay, same clicking. The battery holds just over 10 volts when cranking, which I think is reasonable - I've tried a brand new battery and that made no change. I've connected it up to VCDS and no fault codes are reported. I'm guessing maybe ignition switch, or some fault with the connection to the ECU? Can anybody advise what I might try next? Thanks Ben
