The price of rado's is painful at the moment. Still, all the more reason to keep mine :D

All of the turn signals on my valver are permenantly on! I pulled up at home today and they were all on, front rear and side turning signals. I started the car and they stayed on, i put the hazards on and off, and they stayed on. I put the indicators on and off, they all stayed on. I even removed the fuses and they still stayed on! I disconnected the battery, left it a few hours then put it back on, and they're still on. Could this be caused by a dodgy alarm/immobiliser? Mines a really old one, cant remember the name (throw some old alarm names at me and i'll probably recognise it). Last year the water tank burst and poured water onto the alarm control box, so mr AA man came out and rewired it slightly. So now it really only controls the central locking and isnt hooked up to the alarm system, and it acts up quite a bit. Anyone got any ideas?

MPG seems near enough the same across the range to be honest. I guess it depends how much money you've got and what condition yours is in. I mean if i had a show/near to show condition valver and rather keep it and whack a turbo on as opposed to sell it and buy a vr6

Best way i think. The DVLA route was a very bad idea, and should never be done unless under extreme circumstances, such as saving a car from the crusher etc -
Gutted to hear about that mate! If they're caught make sure they suffer an 'unrelated accident' of some kind
-
That will look stunning if it manages to style that way. Although again its down as a 'coupe', which it clearly isn't! But for me that looks alot nicer than the Scirocco, although at the moment they reckon it'll only come with the 1.4 GT lump, which is disappointing
-
Why cant companies just build the damn concept cars!!! Seat had a new coupe on show at Geneva, hopefully that'll remain like that through to production, although its 99% likely to be completely toned down :mad2:

Is fully synthetic what i should be looking for then?

I dont spare any expense when it comes to the mechanical health of the car, so i'll happily pay for the very best oils available

Why didn't VW make any more supercharged cars?

there are a few about, there's a 400hp TSFI Rallye that I've seen at the NR meets last summertime, sounds monstrous! I hear the new generation ECU / wiring is an absolute MOFO which is what puts most people off I think. Completely different to our Mk2-esque layouts. Blue? That the one that was in Golf+ last year? -
I've done a search and found an answer to the gearbox oil, but not the engine oil, just alot of random threads about smokey valvers etc. I've chosen the Redline MT90 gearbox oil, as its probably the best stuff available. This will be combined with a cleaning of the mechanism (WD40) and a lube up to help with gear crunch. Its a little notchy when cold, so i've been advised to give the mechanism a once over and to change the oil. But now its time for the engine oil. The car has done 125k, but it had a full engine rebuild around 6k ago, so i want an oil that is going to protect the engine as much as possible. The problem is that when the oil pump died the AA took it to my local agarge, who filled it up far too much (oil in the air intake) and i was only charged £6 for replacement oil, so i have a feeling i just got a bucket of random oil put into it. So will i be ok just emptying the system and refilling it, or should i flush it with some cheapo asda oil first? Any help appreciated.

Good point. It would be immensely harsh, and i wouldnt do it. The sad thing is that if he doesn't lower his price then the car will more than likely remain sat there for the forseeable future :( -

Send the cars details to the DVLA. If memory serves me well they'll get it touch with the last owner, who only has so long to reply, if they dont then the car can be swapped into your name. There was someone on E38 last year that got a caddy by doing this! Had been left in a carpark for tiiiiiiime -

Im surprised we haven't seen more FSI powered dubs about to be honest. Surely the transplant cant cost much more than a 1.8T swap, and as said they have very good economy for a 2.0L turbo lump -

Isn't the McLaren SLR supercharged? I'm sure Clarkson gave some crazy figure for the amount of power it actual saps from the engine -
Harsh corner + budget tyres + rain + over excited = 'slight' crash But my mum's focus takes roundabouts better than my C, probably due to the better tyres though

Do you get a warm feeling inside............

I sometimes forget i'm in my mum's focus when i wave, they just look confused  -
......................when you pass another corrado on the road? Whether you're in your C, your mum's car (like me), your company car, you mates car, or your work van, if you pass another rado on the road, do you get a warm feeling inside and a big grin on your face? When i pass one i feel an unspoken, almost brotherly, bond with the other person. I know sod all about them, but i feel respect for them purely for the fact that they're driving a rado. Or is it just me? :cuckoo:

That was prior to my sig  Had done side seizing, then when that was fixed, the other side seized. Then once i replaced it, along with the pads on both sides, i took it for a spin to test it and thats when the idling problem kicked in. Fix one problem, get another, as they say. Its in the garage now having the idling done and a new master brake cylinder. I keep telling myself that after this little spending spree it will behave itself. Im seriously running out of things to replace on it!
-
Does the tax apply to the car or the engine? For example, a 1.8T lump in a 1990 valver?
-
I spend alot of time borrowing my mum's focus as the rado is in and out of garages, blowing oil pumps, seizing brake calipers and such
-
My other mate turned up in his £8k celica tonight too. Plenty of bodyroll in the corners and torque steer, and doesnt feel much faster than my rado. Wont be rushing out to buy one of those

My cousin sold his Focus for £3.5k, has £1k savings, then got a loan on the rest. Is costing him £277 a month for the TT. Daft thing is im paying £240 a month in loans anyway! Although most of that is from past cars, such as the £5k loan i took out at 18 to buy my saxo vtr (my bad). Cost me £3.5k to buy and £1.5k to insure. I spent £2k on 'improving' it, and then after a year i sold it for £2k. So i lost £5k in a year, not the best thing to do at 18!! Then that was extended by £2k for the rado, then the engine rebuild...........all adds up

I have a 1990 16V rado and my mate has a mk4 Golf Gti, non turbo model. We've both had some problems with our cars and were hankering for more power. He wanted the turbo golf and i was looking at ibiza cupra's. However, we both decided to keep going, to stick with what we'd got. However, last week one of the lads at work bought himself a mk4 r32, which made the want for more power greater. But we both decided to stick with what we've got. But yesterday my cousin turned up in his 03 plate 225 TT quattro. Its killed me. I think i need a newer generation dub. I love the rado, and i know that spending £12-£14k on an S3/TT/GTI is alot of money, buts its very very tempting to do so. Just wish they'd kept their boring normal cars so that i would still be happy with mine
