  1. True, they are completely different and vastly better, but are they £2.5k better? I might just be suffering from VR6 envy though, if i'd bought one instead of a valver i'd probably be defending it to the death
  2. Hmmm, have you driven a rado VR6? I have. Have also driven a Honda Integra, hence why i used it as a comparison :D
  3. I think the entire car market is suffering at the minute. There is supposed to be a further 2p going onto the price of petrol soon, which isn't helping matters. And for me, personally, i think VR6's are over priced. I mean the difference between a tidy VR6 and a tidy 16v is around £2.5-£3k. As a 'drivers car' they're also over priced. A very tidy VR6 with around 100k on the clock will set you back £5k. Now just take into consideration the Honda Integra. £5K gets you a very good example, with around 50k on the clock, and they're blooming fast, and around 3-5yrs newer too. But i just think the time of the year and the economic climate isn't helping
  4. Judging by the last shot though i dont think he's struggling for money. I bet that Skyline is running big power
  5. I've looked into Bastuck exhausts before, im sure there was a lad on here that used to import them direct from Germany. They CAN be loud depending on what system you buy. I believe they're straight through with no silencers, and then a larger backbox that does the silencing side of things. Apparently loud, but very good quality.
  6. Due to their age there are aot of bad and average corrados knocking around, not many in very good condition, so i think that one in good nick should command a higher premium, regardless of mileage. Because lets face it, corrados aren't the easier or cheapest cars to fix when they go wrong, so one that is already sorted will be a big bonus. Looking back i would i have i of spent an extra grand when i got mine, would of saved me alot of hassle and money
  7. Black centres for me, and just to sit on the fench, how about a drop somewhere between the two extremes?
  8. A few months back my dad had blocked me in on the drive and gone out in my mums car. Couldnt find his keys so i decided to so some manuvering on the drive to squeeze past his. Thought i'd done a good job until i got out the car. I'd got a blue mark alot my rear arch, and he'd got a red mark down his. Knowing the ear bashing i was in for if i told him i decided to sort it instead. Spent the next hour or so attacking both cars with t cut, polish, paint restorer etc etc. I know i probably should have said something, but the arch came out looking better than before i hit it!
  9. If the bodywork is in good condition i'd buy it in a flash if you can drop it down to £3.5k
  10. My car lets me down from time to time, i wouldn't call it a turd :( On the other hand last year i worked with a contractor that mentioned a G60 to me. His mate owns a farm, took it in p/x for his beemer, then stuck it in the garage and left it, apparently its been there a year or so now. Now if i could get my hands on that lil beasty that WOULD be a good project!
  11. True. Although ive never taken on a 'project' as such. All my cars have been standard or only slightly modded, so i can feel a project coming on at some point. I wouldnt mind trying to drop a g40 lump into a mk2 polo saloon. My uncle used to have one and it bloody flew! Im gonna need a project of some kind sooner or later, might be better starting smaller though, a 4wd turbo corrado probably isnt the best first project
  12. I totally see what you're saying. And to be honest this is the wrong time in my life to attempt it, being 21 and still living at home. Plus if my parents found out i took out a loan to buy a 'decent' car and then threw it at the corrado, well!!!!!
  13. Bloke at work owns a Corrado and a Transporter syncro van. Anyway, been chatting to him about getting the rado and getting something newer and faster, convo went like this: Him: "so what car you planning on buying" Me: "Ibiza cupra i think" Him: "why?" Me: "Because i want the turbo power and the reliability" Him: "How must will this cost you?" Me: "About £5k" Him: Why not just spend £5k on the rado?" Me: "eh?" Him: "Well think about it, buy a crappy car to get around in, then spend £5k on the rado, for that you could 4X4 it, turbo your existing KR lump, and sort the handling" Me: "Prove it" So he spends the next 15-20 mins on the t'internet web. He pulls up a syncro/haldex system on the bay, with all the driveshaft work done to fit a mk2 golf/corrado, for £1700. He then goes on the bahn brenner website and prices up a turbo package that'll give me a good 230-250bhp, then he spends the rest on coilovers and ARBs. It comes in at just under £5k, and he even offers to built it with me. DAMN THAT MAN!!! I was perfectly willing to sell the rado and get a cupra, and now he puts this silly idea in my head. And like he says, whats gonna be worth more in 2-3yrs, an ibiza cupra, or a 4wd corrado running a 250bhp 16VT lump. Evil man
  14. My aunties Ford Cougar V6 was only £3.5k, with just 60k on the clock and all the optional extras too. Still though, it is a ford, and its STUPIDLY uncomfortable
  15. Mines cost me the best part of £2k in the past 18 months, and appearance wise looks worse than when i bought it. Fun times
  16. Ah, thats ok then. As long as its a normal thing. Just didnt want it to be yet another niggle to add to the growing list. I think i'll be changing the gearbox oil then when it gets serviced in a few months, ready for the spring/summer weather.
  17. Definately not! After owning my C for 2 months i had to have a full engine rebuild. I know 2 months is a long time, but i covered less than 1000 miles in it
  18. I had a binding rear caliper, i replaced that and then when i went for a drive i had the excess travel problem too, which wasnt there before. It feels like the initial 1" of the brake pedal does nothing, then the brakes begin to work. Ive spent a fortune on the braking system over the past year, but after doing some research i found that when the entire braking system is bled it puts excessive strain on the master cylinder, and if its an old one it can cause them to fail. I haven't gotten around to changing mine yet, but it sounds like a very similar thing. They're around £50 from GSF i believe, so when payday kicks in i'll be giving it a go. Or i might just take it to Midland VW to have a look at, as i have a throttle issue too, plus i HATE flushing/bleeding the brake system, ive done it faaaar too many times now, on various cars, already done it twice on the rado
  19. Even when initially starting off? (i have to reverse off my drive)
  20. Hello people. Now then, how often does the gearbox oil need changing? Its not been changed whilst the car has been in my hands, which is approaching the 2yr mark. I ask because want it keep it in good condition and fend off the dreaded 2nd gear linkage issues for as long as possible. Also another odd thing with my gearbox, all the gears are pretty good apart from reverse. If i just push down then into reverse it doesnt appreciate it, and i get a horrible grinding noise. However, if i push the gear lever down, then back up, then down again say 3-4 times, and then select reverse, it slides in a treat. Any ideas why? Cheers for any help
  21. I was considering some axle stands and a car creeper for the price. But then again i bet for £6 you could buy some proper old skool massive ones from a old geeza, you ones made from steel girders
  22. 0-60 in 25secs? I'd get to my destination before 60mph
  23. As i found when the oil pump died and pissed ALL my oil onto the road. AA cover ran out the month before and they wanted £120 to take me 2 miles to my local garage  I'm gonna fix it then go for a Ibiza Cupra. The ease of power is just silly to pass up really
  24. How on earth does it handle that much torque?!?! Plus, 28MPG is bloody impressive for a V12!! I heard some rumblings a few years ago that the next generation of VW TDI engines is supposed to be hitting the 100mpg mark, any truth in this?
