REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?
Banana Man replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
Indeed I have Tom :D Hi Rob the best way to get rid of the boost return pipe is to have an alloy plate made up or a cowling to house a second air filter then its just a case of getting a breather filter to vent the oil vapours on the rocker cover and route the ISV into the intercooler pipe via a dump valve t piece and you can run a piece of hose off the bottom of the T/b to atmosphere I just used the redundant boost return hose and cable tied it in place out of site. To get the blanking plate just give daz a bell he'll make you up one as thats where I got mine from, as for mounting the induction kit in the inner wing give daz a bell on that as well as he sourced me the bits to do the mod :D . Do I get commision for passing trade your way Daz :D -
here's a pic of my car sitting on 7x17" fox evo's and it is also lowered by 80mm by a jamex sportline kit. enjoy.....................

ISV Idle Stabilisation valve its the silver tube looking thing that sits on the back of the rocker cover one pipe goes into the inlet manifold the other feeds into the boost return pipe on the charger.

I still would buy an MR2 turbo or Supra twin turbo these cars are fast as standard but even faster if you mod them :D , My mate has a 300+hp MR2 turbo and I borrowed it to fit some stereo a while back and I scared myself it is effing rapid I had it upto 165mph on a very short stretch of dual carriagway ( private dual carriagway of course Honest!!! :D ) with flames shooting out of the exhausts :D

I use the JR cone filter that jabba use and have mounted it in the inner wing out of the way of all that horrible engine heat ( you have to takethe Carbon canister out for this ) Even with the heat shie;d you aren't getting anymore airflow as the only air getting to the filter is the air coming between the gaps in the headlights so you aren't really benefitting much by fittng the heatshield imho. The isv mod is well worthwhile doing and it is a very cheap mod to do, first of all you can cap of the boost return pipe on the charger or you can drop the rad a couple of inches and run a second ram filter and run the isv back into the intercooler pipe between the throttle body and co potentiometer so any leaked boost from your ISV wont be wasted and then just run a breather filter on the top of the rocker cover.

Have you had your charger ported yet?? If not then I would suggest you get the charger ported first as you will see bigger gains when you fit a 68mm pulley, FPR, chip and filter. Just a stg4 porting mated with a chip and 68mm pulley will see you nearing the 200bhp mark

I bought a magnex system before I bought the powerflow and I ended up having to have it towed to RSR on a saturday morning coz the damn thing was such a bad fit. They fitted it but it kept on knocking on the rear beam I got so pissed off with it that I told them to take it off and make me up a decent system that was loud and didn't knock on anything, I ve ended up with a beast of an exhaust it cost £400 includidng the cat bypass which is a good price for a custom exhaust I think!! As for mods I'm running stg4 charger, 68mm pulley, 3.5bar FPR, isv router, and a german chip and of course the custom exhaust. I am taking it to the next level in a couple of weeks by having a front mount intercooler, 65mm pulley, flowed and ported head mated with a piper 260cam, external oil cooler and a fully customised chip should be good for an extra few horses

Would that be RSR in redhill harry as thats where I had my system made :D They did a bloody good job apart from I ve just noticed that one of the centre boxes hangers has sheared ( BUGGER ) but the system is 2 yrs old so I'll let em off. back to the point though all cars after 1990 were provisionally fitted with a catalytic converter for emmisions but the new emmision test didn't come in until Jan '93 so if you decat it then they just test your car under the old emmision test which allows 3.5%co instead of the catted test which is +-.5%co. You wont notice much difference when you decat the exhaust it only really becomes an issue if you are going for big power. When I de catted mine I think I lost a bit of low down torque but hardly noticable!

I dont think you can get get plastic chromed to my knoledge but trim sport are either in the process of making the polished dials for the heater controls or have already got them for sale. Contact lance at sales he's quite up to date with all their products!!

Funny knocking noise when slowing and lifting off clutch.
Banana Man replied to GazzaG60's topic in Engine Bay
Does the clutch slip at high revs if you dump the clutch? I still think the problem lies with the release bearing they often wear causing the gearbox to chatter when the clutch isnt engaged -

Sounds like the clutch release bearing is worn to me!! When the car is at Idle is there a chatter from the box if there is put your foot on the ckutch if it disapears then it's the clutch release bearing!! -
Lee you can still use the giro valve when you take the boost return pipe off unless you T the ISV pipe into the intercooler hose!!!
-
I have a nomad boost gauge that reads upto 30psi :D and 2hg's negative boost it does the trick and I like the look of it!!!
-
I've already said this in the inters thread but they have totaly tranformed the look of your motor dazzy onece you get the car sitting lower on the coilovers and lose the arch to rubber gap itwill look even better. If you are a fan of the speedlines you can get a set of compomotive MO's which are practically the same design as the speedlines in 16's or seventeen's I think they would look pretty damn fine haven't seen any on a corrado yet!!!! Who's going to be the first then??????????
-
I didn't say you did need a dump valve LowG what I said was you can get a dump valve T piece that will t into the black rubber hose from the plastic intercooler pipe to the Throttle body and then all you get is a length of heater hose 3/4" ( I think ) and run that from the isv to the T piece that way you are recurculatin any lost boost that the ISV is passing back into the intake system. On the other hand you might like that bright brass valve in your engine bay but if you want your engine bay lookin tidy then I wouldn't go for it Iwould either get the proper giro valve that ridgeway sell or get the T piece.

No I wont daz I haven't got round to fitting mine yet when I do I will post up some pics though!!!

Is anyone going to the no rice guildford meet tomorrow night
Banana Man replied to Banana Man's topic in General Car Chat
The meet is just off the A3 it is held in the lady mead retail park car park it has a burger king and halfords in the car park it is usually a really good meet. I dont think I'll be able to make it now as I am going down to see darren and john to make a plan of action to get all my bits fitted and setup. If there is any change of plan I will post it on here -
They should be strung up by they're testicles and totured by a fat bird that hasn't washed for weeks and then cut they're fingers off!!! Tough break man I would go spare if anything like that happened to me!! The pigs are bloody useless if they do actually catch the twocers ( which is very rarely ) They let em go with a slap on the wrists so they can just go out there and do it again. I am really considering tracker now I have been contemplating it for a while now but as the crime levels are increasing I think I had better do it sooner rather than later!! £500 isn't that much considering it could mean that you might actually get the car back before anything too bad is done to it rather than not get it back at all!! I feel a group buy coming on!! :D
-
Not so sure about that one mate!!! The other way to do the ISV is to buy a dump valve t piece as it will t into the boost hose between the throttle body and intercooler pipe then all you do is get a length of heater hose and connect the ISV to the dump valve pipe. job done so simple and that is basically all that the BBM kit consists of

nice lookin motor mate good job!! SICKK means cool it's just Furki saying it looks good I think :D

Another all weekender :D Yeah I'm up for that for sure better book the days off work now to make sure I'm there. I'll make sure I take my sleeping bag for that 1 :D
-

It ended up being a comunal bucket didn't it me you and daz used it in the end!! It was a bloody long way to get the water though next year they should put the club cars nearer the water supply instead of the auto jumble being so close to it.
