Have to admire the time and effort that's gone into it, but what's he going to do when it rains or if someone accidently sprinkles bird food all over it? Is he sponsored by Zymol? Also loved the post a bit further on from a Corsa owner, "its only an Astra FFS". Erm, Corsa, kettle, pot..........!

PVW = Everytime I've picked it up, it seems to be full of stuff from America?! Cars, shows, etc. British and European cars seem to be an after thought to sell the mag over here. Golf+ = Think the debate over female dubbers belongs in the 70's. What happened to the 'How To' sections, products rated and slated, (too scared to upset the advertisers), proper journalists who are enthusiasts. Instead of the usual long list of what the car has had done or listing of the bits on it. I want the story not a puffed-up invoice listing!

Yep, was advised by a specialist that shoe stuff is just as good as the more expensice and exotic stuff from car places.

Potholes and bad filling in by tin-pot electric, water, companies and their dodgy sub-contractors! And then when they do re-surface, the signs say - 'Beware of Ramp'. As far as I know a ramp is a slight gradient, not a big f-ing drop because they can't be arsed to do it right while ripping the road up. Think this is a conspiracy with ATS/Kwik-fit/etc to keep them in business.

Got the same problem with mine, bangs on the heatshield over bumps, pot holes, even worse with a passenger in the back. Let us know if you solve the problem mate, as its driving me mad as well.

Help needed! Changed coolant on my C, now have fountain?!

Got Corrado back today from local VW specialist, problem sorted! The guys did all the regular checks, pressure tested the system, checked all the hoses, sensors, rad fan and thermostat. All fine. So the next thing was obviuosly head gasket. But then inspiration came and they tested the expansion cap and...........yep, a bit of the rubber seal in the cap had got pushed-up causing it not to seal properly. Really need eagle eyes to see it but the small crimp is definately there. Problem solved with a £7 new cap :D plus labour and testing fee's  . But I'll take £50 over a new head gasket anyday! Drove car home, no steam, overheating or flashing warning lights. -
Hello mate, if you do a search there is plenty of info about taking out this bit and the accompanying pipes. When I did mine there was a diagram somewhere on the forum too. Done mine and made no difference to running.

Help needed! Changed coolant on my C, now have fountain?!
Jay2 replied to Jay2's topic in Engine Bay
Hello mate, yep given in as well with my problem, booked into garage next week for them to pressure test, then take it from there. Had another session on Sunday, drained it and refilled a couple of times to make sure it wasn't an air lock. Still got same problem, but starting to think that its the Thermostat switch, as the bottom hose that goes to it stays cool sum of the time. Looked at where it is, and thought bugger that, ring the garage. Will keep you updated. Fingers crossed its not the head gasket! -

Cheers for the info on cost for G12+, will be on my way to the stealers as soon as I can get a lift and time from work. The fan does kick in eventually, which then cools everything down and the coolant drops and stops bubbling. But then as soon as the fan stops it hots up again and starts bubbling and p*ssing out of the coolant tank. Thanks for all the advice, as missing being able to drive my C. -
Help needed! Changed coolant on my C, now have fountain?!
Jay2 replied to Jay2's topic in Engine Bay
Coolant had been in since buying the car about 8 months ago. So not sure what was in. Yep, all the hoses get warm/hot, as checked for leaks while it was running. Would air in the system set the warning light off though?? Can I get G12+ anywhere or have to go to the dealers/GSF, etc? -

Thanks for all the suggestions. Left the car to settle overnight. Topped up and ran the engine again this evening. Again got the flashing warning light on the dash and once warm I get the usual steam, gushing coolant from the tank. How much air can get trapped?! Got a blue cap on the expansion tank. So the conclusion is to get some decent G12+ coolant and redo the job again, taking my time to fill the system up and then running up to temp gently, while squeezing my hose? -
Help urgently needed! Changed the coolant in my 1991 G60 Corrado today, as it had changed to a strong Tea colour. Usual, "oh, easy afternoon job on the car". Took off the bottom hose, drained it, flushed it by removing the top pipe and pouring water through the radiator. Cleaned the expansion tank out too. All after double checking with the Bentley's manual. Plumbed it all back together, refilled with a water/coolant mixture, no leaks. Started the car up and left running with heaters on max. Next thing I know most of my coolant is running down the drive. Seems to be boiling up and p*ssing out of the side of my expansion tank through, what I presume is an overflow hole, located on the right hand side, behind a plastic cover next to the strut top. As it was popping and fizzing, presumed it was air trapped in the system. So let it settle down, topped it up and started the process again, left the car running to get to temp and left it popping and spilling out coolant. Did this for most of the afternoon without any luck or progress. Then the water warning light comes on on the dashboard, (the water temp gauge rises to around 70 while stood and 80 while being driven around the block but no further, so not overheating?), and the coolant still seems to boil up into the expansion tank and then through the side overflow hole. If you turn the car off and let it cool the coolant drops off to normal. What am I missing, as its baffled both me and my mate? Do the water coolant sensors detect the pressure in the system and that's whats setting the water warning light off? Surely I still can't have air trapped in the system? What else could cause the coolant to boil and rise up so violently? Using Halfords coolant that's recomended for my C, could this be the problem, that is not of a high enough grade, causing the system to boil up? Any suggestions greatly and urgently needed!

Been to the local VW Stealers for a few trim parts, so thought I'd pass on some of the current charges:- Original Corrado car mat sets = £51 + vat New Leather Gear Knob = £18.57 + vat New Leather Hand Brake Handle = £24.62 + vat (only available from Germany, 2 week delivery wait) New Plastic Hand Brake Handle = £4 + vat (as also used on Passats) The prices also include Club Discount, which is about 10%. Hope this is of some help, especially with some of the Ebay stuff thats up from sellers from Germany, when your local dealer will get it for you without any postage charges. :) Cheers.

Just a quick query. Should the Handbrake Handle sit in the middle of the centre trim? Mine seems to have a lean to the drivers side and its pulling the plastic trim towards the seat. I was wondering if over time its possible for it to bend on the mounting brackets through constant use? Starting to have clearance problems with the handbrake sticking on the plastic. Many thanks.

Have to agree, Adrian Flux gave me a good deal on my previous car on a Classic Policy, but their customer service is rubbish. Changed to a Corrado mid-way through policy so got charged for changing my car. Set them all the documents through. Which they then lost. Said it was my fault and threatened to cancel my policy immediately. Even though I had a letter from them admitting they'd lost them! Eventually sorted that out, after many expensive calls to their premium rate helpline number. Moved house. Got charged again. Well, they tried to, untill I asked why I wasn't getting a refund as the new address was in a lower insurance bracket and the car would be garaged. Apparently I was told that it was too far into my policy but as an act of good faith they would drop the charge for moving house. So if I had not queried it they would have got extra money out of me for movng house and kept charging me at the higher insurance rate. They may give you a lower quote but is it worth it in the long run? Currently with Chris Knott through the C Club. So far no probs.

What kind of aftermarket handle does fit? Anybody found one? Pics would be great. The original has seen better days and just wanted to replace it with something else.

Anybody bought one of these off of Ebay:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Handbrake-Cover-V ... dZViewItem Had mine a few months and only just got round to fitting it, but it doesn't! The main shaft isn't wide enough to slide onto the lever over the top rib and two botton ones on the handbrake handle, once you've stripped the plastic grip and cover off. Am I missing something or has anyone else had the same problem? Not got a clue on how to swap the normal black release button for the silver one supplied? :? Any help appreciated.

Hello mate, me again. I've only just got round to fitting mine, wanted to wait untill I'd had some spray work done, as everything gets covered in white powder. Anyway, I've had the plastic trim off and fitted the gaitor, but there's so much excess that the handbrake won't work properly. Did you cut yours down at the bottom? Been back onto the MrGaitor website and if you look at the picture of the Corrado the leather handbrake gaitor actually goes right up to the button and covers the handle. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... osi_widget Would like to know how you got on as I'm now confused. :? Cheers.

Don't know if this has been mentioned in the past or if I've missed it on the Forum, but how about a listing of parts still available from new via your local VW dealer? Would this be too long a list still? Or even a page where you can just add a part if you've been able to get it from your dealer? Could help when searching on the Tinternet for parts, Ebay etc. And give you a rough bench mark of how much it's worth against a new one. If it's already on the Forum how do I find it? As I am now on first name terms with the guy at the parts department at my local dealer after constant enquiries. Cheers.
