I've got the same problem and enquired about it last time I was at C&R Enterprises at Nottingham. Apparently with the Corrado its just cosmetic as the top bit is seperate to the filler neck which is the killer for MkI's when that rusts and bits drop into the tank. Mind eased of possible expensive future bills but it does look nasty every time I fill up. :(

Peanut how old are you? Thats some list! First car:- 1.1 Festa, which was a complete tin box with a manual choke! But cost bugger all to run and fix. Miss it. 1989 Golf 8v GTi, going from a 1.1 to a 1.8 injection was earth shattering! 1987 MkIII 2.8 Capri, dream car from too much Professionals as a kid. Sounded fantastic but spent more time in the garage, either being fixed or filling up with petrol! AND rusted like a *********. 1991 Corrado G60, current car, with a never diminishing list of things to do on it. :(

There are a few locals with Skylines and I'm always shocked by how big a car they are. And Scoobies seem to be the new family car of choice, countless ones round here with 'winnie the pooh' sun visors or fairly robust blonde haired mothers with 2.4 kids in the back. :(

If you think GSF are bad then don't make the mistake and try Eurocarparts!

Fuel goes up, we pay more, but the big oil company profits are always in profit! Maybe its there turn to take some of the pain out of the increase in oil. Can you imagine the US if they paid the equivalent as us for thier fuel?

Why do most of the candidates always turn out to be American?

Alonso parts company with McLaren - no surprise there!

The plot thickens................ :( -
Optimax is a must. Also don't be too stingy and just stick a tenner in. :D

Didn't they go bankrupt a while ago? Can remember alot of stuff flying about on the tinternet between the different factions. Some customer cars got seized, etc?
-
Yep, 'special' just seems to mean different alloys, seats, bit of trim and thats it. All of which you could do yourself for alot cheaper than the extra pounds they stick-on the standard price. To be honest would anyone recognise it as a Pirelli Edition if it passed you in the street? :?

I think Alonso is a shoe-in for driving with Ferrari, just a matter of when and who goes to make way. :? Think Mclaren should get one of the other young drivers and let them race. That's what we want to see. :) Although the "I'm moving to Switzerland to get away from the newspapers, etc, etc." is complete BS and we all know it. Just hold your hands up and say "sod the tax man I'm off". :D -
If you are putting whopping big speakers in the rear shelf then be carefull where the holes have been put. If they are to the back, as mine was when I bought the C, the shelf simply bends with the weight and your straps will simply streeeeetch to breaking point. Seems obvious but the former owner had been a bit rash with the jigsaw. :( Ended up buying a new shelf, (with the speaker holes near to the rear seat), adding some strengthening for peace of mind and making some re-inforced straps. Good luck. :)

If you got rid of your C what modern car would you have?
Jay2 replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
Its a lime green W12 surely? :D -
As an example of the matt black finish, then yep, looks great. An an example of a Capri, then , studs in the wings and a huuuuuuuge panel gap between the wing and door....... :(
-
Have to admit I like the sound of this as well. :) Although think you would have to live with the constat taunts of "when you getting the paint finished?" Or coming back to it covered in chalk?
-
Yep, most wins and a storming second half to season. Consistently shows that he is the fastest driver in F1 when everythings on song. Just a pity it means Ferrari have won both titles after all the BS this year. :( Don't think Raikonen's a robot, more that he doesn't give a sh*t for all the 'showbizz' and sponser plugging that they need to do just to drive in F1. :)

Did Porsche have anything to do with the design, build, selling of the Corrado, Golf, etc? NO. I just don't like to see cars covered in products from other vehicle manufacturers which still have the wording, badging, emblem on etc. Porsche rims with the centre badges on are just an example. Porsche rims without centre badges no probs, as I said before thats a style choice. You wouldn't put an old skool jaguar bonnet cat on your C? Oh bugger...........maybe that would work?!

Still got a soft spot for a Lupo GTi for a nippy little everydayer, if it wasn't for the fact everytime I see a bloke driving one I instinctively think he's in his girlfriends motor. :? Fabia VRs anybody? Chipped & lowered as a street sleeper? :) -
Always seem to ponder this every time I'm not sat in the Corrado, as logic says that the money I spend on keeping it on the road would pay for a loan for a more reliable modern motor. Although suspect this may be the Mrs brainwashing me with this idea every time it has to go to the garage. But what? I don't mean 'money no object cars' like a Veyron or Merc, but an everyday car? Something for the daily slog but will also put a smile on my face when I want to be a bit lairy. :? Maybe even a diesel!

If you saw a Pug or C*rsa with Porsche wheels then you would split your sides with laughter. But just because there is some tenuous link with VW and Porsche then its ok. :? If you take the porsche centre caps off then I've got no problem as then it becomes a matter of style and individual opinion, but obviuosly then everyone doesn't know YOU have porsche wheels unless their a car fan. Is this making sense? :? Feel I'm moving into another post...........?
-
This may upset quite a few dubbers but for me its the same offence as putting other bits on your C, (or Golf for that matter), which still have porsche, mercedes, bentley badges or wording on. Such as Porsche door handles with 'Porsche' stamped on them?! Why? If you want chrome handles get chrome handles. :? Obvioulsy its not tat, but its the same argument in my opinion.

Yep, don't think he held Plato up but once he was passed he suddenly discovered alot more speed to keep Plato defending his line rather than attacking the leaders. Should make next season very interesting. :)
-
Yep, me too. Boycotting buying one in protest at there F1 attitude. :D

For anyone who has no idea about engine mechanics!

Ordered one after seeing this post. Hope it will clear a few 'thingy me'jigs' and 'what'cha call it' explanations up for me. :D -
I know there is no love lost between Neal and Plato but that was just so blatant, waving the Vauxhall's through, Plato battling his way past and then Neal up his backside for the rest of the last race. Surprised there has been no enquiry. Can you imagine that in F1!
