  1. Surprised you got stopped at the VW Festival, the Leeds lot are usually sat in there nice warm cars with a cuppa or propping up the traffic lights by the main gates watching the Festival Stewards do there job of sorting out the traffic jams. :?
  2. If they are not carefull this season will be remembered as a complete farce, rather than for the great races, (especially in the wet!), and title battle. Just when you think F1 is finally sorting itself out, the usual politics, power struggles rear there head yet again. :(
  3. 'SUV' is an American term and a marketing one at that, 'Sport Utility Vehicle', WTF does that mean?! They are just wrong on so many different levels. Go past a School in the morning or mid-afternoon and their everywhere. Yes, great, the mother feels safe with little Johny sat in the back becuase she's high up in a big vehicle, but if you hit a child at 30mph in a 4x4/SUV theres no need for an ambulance. Warrior owner = little d*ck. My old mans got an old Land Rover which he uses for the purpose it was built for, towing, off-roading and carrying heavy loads. The only time it gets washed is when it rains. :)
  4. If Lewis wins then maybe he should say shove it and go do other kinds of motorsport. Think their would be alot of takers.

    0-60 times??

The Sky Car Programme had that 'Horse Power Heroes' section with people coming along with their kitted up cars that they'd spent thousands on, remap, exhuast, injectors, turbo upgrade, and most of the bhp figures went backwards. Remember a woman who'd got the new Corsa VXR and spent £3-4000 on engine mods. Stuck it on the R/R and the car made 4bhp more than Vauxhalls book figure.
  6. Why do BMW keep doing this, as by the time you've specced it up you could afford a proper car or buy a cheaper one and use the spare wedge to mod it to your hearts content. At the end of the day its so people can say they've got a 'Beamer'. But these days so has everyone else.
  7. Its also American and bloody expensive, new about £70. Try Ebay, Amazon or on the forum for a 2nd hand copy.
  8. I have a sneaky feeling that Raikkonen might just nick it from everyone. Hasn't he also won more GP's than anyone this year, with five wins? I know he seems to have had a 'charisma lobotomy' when a microphone is stuck in front of his face, but I remember earlier in the season when the commentator asked where he'd been just before the start of the race and he said "I had to go take a sh*t".
  9. James May in a bucket seat & race harness while starkers & sweating. An image not suitable for Sunday TV. Pity I missed most of the programme due to the Mrs going on and on about Hamsters mid-life crisis, ie. hair grown long, beaded necklace, dodgy printed jacket...........and on and on...............! PS. The Golf still looks like that racing spec Clio. :(
  10. Fast lane is also apparently for anyone in a 4x4 'Sport' or 'Warrior', which surely shows that car companies have a sense of humour to stick either on the back of a tarted up mud plugger. Although take comfort in knowing that their is something with worse mpg while cruising at 70mph. :D
  11. To be honest I have to agree with the thing with the screw cap covers and people spelling things with them. As you are really changing what your registration is. But then again its all for the benefit of the cameras anyway in the long run. :?
  12. As you point out, won't this also apply to everyone driving around with the name of the garage they bought the car from on their number plate?
  13. My C is lowered mate and I had the same problem with my exhaust clunking over bumps on the frame. But just had a new set of rubber hangers put-on and the problem was solved. :D They weren't knackered but the slight sag made all the difference to clearance when you were sat in the car. Maybe worth a quick check.
  14. Great to see all the old footage. But surely the man deserved an up-to-date profile AND not to be tucked away on ITV4? :?
  15. Is it just me or are the most exciting F1 races always the ones when it p*sses down? Seems to show who are the real drivers. :D
  16. Been trying to source a few bits of internal trim for my C and getting nowhere with these guys. Emailed them two weeks ago with the list of parts I was after and the offer of sending some pics so they would know 100% what I was after. Next day I got an email back saying they were fairly certain they had the bits but to forward some pics to make sure and then ring and talk to Simon. Pics were sent. Day after I tried ringing, with the only result being an engaged tone or no reply. Second day, again engaged tone or no reply. On third day actually spoke to someone, but "Simon's not in at the moment, he's out on personal time"?! Fourth day, engaged, no reply. Fifth day, rung the place as soon as it opens at 7am and I got 'Simon'! Result, I thought. But got "sorry mate I'm a bit busy at the moment can I ring you back later?". Gave him my number, but I could tell he wasn't taking a blind bit of notice. Three days later, still no ones rung me back. So again, I rung as soon as the place opened and again, result, Simon answers the phone, "oh yes mate, I'm still busy, can you ring next week?" At which point does poor customer service turn to taking the p*ss? :?

    Bloody hell

Yes, the 'speeding copper' debate could be a very long thread indeed. As I followed one yesterday on a dual carriageway with no blues & two's flashing, going well over the limit. Did wonder if I should match his speed and see what the outcome would be, but realised I would be onto a loser. :( These things always prove to be great marketing for whichever car has the latest speeding record, so Porsche dealers will be rubbing there hands together. Not sure whether the guys a complete pratt for being caught speeding in the companies car or applaud him for not using his own car to get to that speed. :?
  18. Ah yes, the good old producer notice when all else fails by the police. :D
  19. Demo car = used by garage employees, salesperson, etc. Coupe/Sport Demo car = thrapped by garage employees, salesperson. Went to a local dealership recently and the sight of childs seat, shopping, in the demo Leon FR car parked out the back was a bit of a give away.
  20. Is that VW adding the 'Hairdresser' catchment to their sales targets then?
  21. Can see your point about certain media frenzy deaths, eg Princess Di, which still rumbles on to this day. BUT, this is a car forum, and McRae made a real impression on the car world and not just rallying. If you work out 'care = people you actually know/knew' then the world would be a terrible place to live.
  22. Yes, what happens to normal people when they climb into a Beamer, whether man or woman? :? Do they emit some kind of Gamma radiation as soon as you sit in the drivers seat and turn you into a complete tosser? Don't want to even start on X5 drivers!
  23. Great sportsman and Scot. Still lived where he grew up, which I though was testimony to the bloke. Unlike so many other sportspeople or famous Scots that live 'abroad' for tax reasons. Sympathise for all the families involved.
  24. Isn't this all a bit hypothetical with NCAP though? As real world crashes have an immense range of differences, not just the cars but road conditions, etc? And the all important angle of the impact.
  25. If only they weren't all true.................................. :(
