Thanks for the suggestions. Your pic mate looks the right shade compared to the pics I've seen for Light Grey. Cheers.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Car in bodyshop at the moment and my boot stickers awol for the Colour Code, (had a bump up the backside at some point and been repaired in the distant past). Looked on the club info page which gives me either Light Grey Metallic or Pearl Grey Metallic for a 91 Corrado. How do I tell or find out which one? Had heard mentioned that it may be on the original Log Book for the car, but obviously that's in my glovebox, at the Bodyshop. Any help appreciated. *Done a bit more homework on the Tinternet and I think it must be Pearl Grey Metallic, seen a few shots of the Light Grey which is a completely different shade and alot lighter, even with the unreliable nature of downloaded pics. But would still like some help to avoid an expensive cock-up. Changed my side-pic to give you a better idea. Sorry it's a bit crap but its the only one I have at the moment. Cheers.

Worst thing some has said about ur Corrado
Jay2 replied to CorradoDriver's topic in General Car Chat
The boyfriend of one of the Mrs mates wanted to know "how come I've not seen that grey Mondeo on your drive lately?" Obviously my first reaction was that the Mrs is having an affair! But no, the guy was serious, as he knows nothing about cars, and is quite happy driving around in a Ford KA. Which is his and not even his girlfriends! -
Hello mate, Is that one of those Mr Gaitor ones off of Ebay?

Can anyone help or done the same? My C has a few signs that at some point it has had some accident repair work done and I was wondering if its possible to find out any details? Or even if it was knicked and damaged? Been on the DVLA site and you can get the normal details which are on the logbook and you can pay £5 and get a list of all the previous owners, but what about any other info? HPI check maybe? Any help appreciated.

Yep, I'm in the same position, cover or no cover? Live close enough to walk to work so car only gets used a few times a week. Previously owned a Capri and heard some real horror stories with keeping the car covered from other owners. Although old fords rust even if there is just a cloud in the sky. Waterproof covers protect the car from the rain, but also trap moisture underneath at this time of year, so your car ends up rotting anyway. Breathable covers allow air to circulate around your car so you don't end up with trapped moisture, but they are then not fully waterproof. So its a bit damned if you do and damned if you don't. There was a company at the VW Festival selling ones for VW's including Corrado's, if anyone picked one of their leaflets up? The other option is to look through any of the Classic car mags as there is usually loads of different styles and types in the back pages, from covers to vacum sealed bubbles?!!

Got past the problem of the parcel straps by using steel wire which has a plastic coating, so doesn't look too industrial. Couple of washers to stop it pulling through the shelf holes in the corner and job sorted.

Anybody seen or even got pics of a C with a matt black finish?
-
Yes, I have the same problem, but mine seems to stick in reverse and needs a good pull to release, whether its cold or been on a long run. Should I get ready for a big bill????

Thanks Martin, will try this out. Cheers.

Maybe we should have a league table as a permanent site on the forum so that people can compare labour rates? I know it will depend on location but might be handy for finding smaller VW specialists or garages that know their V Dubs. My problem is that how much are the mechanics on? For example if I pay £50 phr for work on my car, how much of that is for the guy doing the work or the person sat in the nice warm office answering the phone? At the end of the day all I want is quality workmanship and good service, is that too much to ask? Anybody work in a garage or dealership with some insider info?

Recently bought a MOMO steering wheel with Corrodo boss off of Ebay but need advice on fitting. The Momo steering wheel only seems to have one wire for the horn function, which is attached to the push button and then to the big metal boss base ring. But when I remove the cover on my original VW steering wheel there is two wires for the horn function. Does the Momo only operate on one? How do I wire it up for the horn to work? Cheers.

Good question. Why is the letter and voting slip only if you disaprove of the change to get rid of the magazine, why not more open and ask for suggestions? Or people have to send their voting slips in for Yes or No. I think the problem is that the changes have already been made by the Club and that the voting slips are just some way to justify them. The people who don't want the changes are simply going to vote with their membership renewels and hurt the club even more. What exactly will I be getting for my £10?? I can already get on the ClubGTi site, go to the shows and their isn't that many places nearby to take advantage of the club discount scheme with some traders. Clubs can be a great thing, look at some of the other car based owners clubs that have been mentioned. Why can't we have something similar with the number of VW fans out there?

I agree, that its great that the internet has led to more, smaller splinter groups along regional, car/engine models, etc. Which are all well and good for social meets and stands at the shows, but having an all encompassing umbrella group, such as Club GTi or CCGB is surely essential, if only to have more clout to actually organise bigger events, track days, group buys, etc. I'm also a member of the Capri Club, (too much Professional's when I was younger), which publishes a monthly club mag, discount card for members, organises shows and has the clout to get parts made which have long been discontinued. All for the same £25 annual membership. With the club acting as a central point for all the various regional clubs to organise more local meets and events. Is it easier for the members to say what they want and take the Club GTi forward from their? I'm also worried that if you go to the ClubGTi Website, there's nothing on about the changes? Am I the only one they want out?? On the subject of mags, I've never yet suffered with connection problems, crappy BT customer service, people trying to knick my details and bank info, slooooooow connection speeds for photo's, ................

I've got a free complimentary ticket to this weekends British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone if anyone wants it? Got to work so can't make it. First to PM me with an address will get it. Will post tommorrow 1st class. Would rather it get used by someone. Was a freebie with PS2 Toca Driving game, so there's a few on ebay as well if you need other tickets. Allows access to grandstand and paddock. Cheers.

Just thought I'd try and get some feedback from some more Corrado Owners. Got a letter through today saying that Club GTi is skint, basically. Due to lack of new members and internet sites?! The change is to do away with the 'Rabbit' magazine and stick to the internet, to get any news and features to the members. Membership would then be reduced to £10 a year. Now my immediate thoughts were that anything is better than the club going to the wall, as I've been a member of Club GTi since I had a MkII GTi many years ago, and even though I've changed cars a few times I've always re-newed my membership so as to keep up with the VW scene, which I've eventually returned back to. The internet may be a cheaper option than sending out proper printed magazines but its not the be all and end all. For a start I still need something to read on the bog. Is this the start of a spreading trend?

Not sure if this has been done before, but thought it would be interesting to see what the highest hourly labour rate someones had from a garage? To start the ball rolling, C&R Enterprises at Nottingham charged me £50 +vat an hour. Also billed me £1.20 for the grit paper they used?! Any higher?

New shelf is black and already had the holes cut in it. Bought another one, as the old one had the holes cut out towards the back of the shelf, which had broken the rear parcel shelf supports, which I've also replaced. Gone with a bit of MDF and see how I get on. Thanks for all the advice. Stealth shelf looks a good upgrade. Have you got one fitted?
-
I am in the middle of re-building my boot after some welding and trying to tidy up all the ice bits from the previous owners handywork. Do I need to strenthen the rear-parcel shelf with a length of MDF to add support for the 6x9 speakers? Or will this just end up adding more weight to the shelf and moving the strain to the supports and straps? Advice urgently needed so I can put the car back together again. Cheers.

Alot of MkI Gti owners are after them for that 'old skool' look. Seen a few with them re-done to a polished mirror state and look great. Only trouble with red is that it does tend to fade and is a bugger to colour match if you have any new bits put on it. But worth a look as a run about for £600 mate, if its T&T. Good luck.

The wiring looms from VAGingit are, or were last time I looked, £45, which includes postage. Yep, thorughly agree, the quality is top notch with proper connectors. After upping the bhp on the G60 at some point too. But also got a list of minor faults to sort first, which is sensible but really boring. :( The G60 tuning bit on the Wikki is really usefull and gives you a step-by-step guide on upping your bhp, without blowing the engine.

Hello mate, Are they geniune P-Slot rims on it as well? They are worth a few bob on there own.

Hello, Fairly new to Corrado ownership and had the same worries after having it serviced, but I have come to realise that its all part of the experience. :D Because when its on song and you find a clear bit of road then the niggling faults and garage bills dissapear and get replaced by a huge grin. Can recomend the up-rated wiring loom from VAGingit on the Suppliers bit. Took about half-an-hour to fit and make sure all the wires were out of the way. Was doubtfull about the benefits of a few bits of wire, but the transformation was amazing, even when fitted in the day-time I could actually see my headlights on! How do you put up with the turbo lag after a supercharger? Ps. Sorry, realise that sounds like the worst chat up line ever

Hello mate, Had a MkII 8v GTi a few years ago, and missed it ever since selling it. Great as a daily driver, still plenty of go and if lowered-very nippy, but obviously no match for a VR in a straight line. But then again it won't drink petrol either. The 16v has a bit more at the top end, but the 8v is better through the first few gears. Loads of room both front and back, and always amazed by how much I could get in the boot. Had no serious problems with the engine, as long as you get it serviced properly and regularly. Obviously with the age of the car then parts will wear out, but you can get most at GSF or local VAG dealer, alot easier and cheaper than parts for your C. Got to be very unlucky to find one with a knackered engine. The Matey-Matey website have a good section on buying advice, which has a bit more detail on what to look for on the engine. Including the infamouse rattling tappets. Hope this helps and good luck.

Yep, had thought about this as well mate, moving the CD Changer to the armrest. Wasn't sure how to get past the problem of folding the rear seats flat. Anybody got any pics of this done? I was then going to put some connectors on the amp and bass box in the boot so that they could be removed quickly for lugging stuff around in. All the suggestions are a great help. Cheers.
