New Car Time - My hand has been forced Alfa here I come!!!!!
mattosmond replied to Blue_Joe's topic in General Car Chat
sounds like a real beast.... it is a more reliable choice than the alfa..... And tbf looks good -
i think the going rates are around £2500-£2700 for a low mileage minter, but some jokers ask £3000 which is a bit excessive, at the endo f the day it's only a 2.0 8v not a VR!

i was going to buy a black cc in the summer....... But it fell through, they are lovely.... i have a mk3 gti 8v it's not a bad engine really, it is pretty economical and can be quite nippy.... If it feels a bit hesitant with the revs then the throttle body might need cleaning out, this is a common problem on these engines... they've got nice bbs solitudes on them aswell..... good luck, oh and the one i looked at was 96 'n' with 109k on the clock, air con, etc £2100.. incase you needed to know other cc prices...

GOLF GTI MK5 ANNIVERSARY - WHAT YOU ALL THINK?
mattosmond replied to iow_corrado_g60's topic in General Car Chat
looks sh!t! bland, boring, unoriginal, and most of all anniversary doesn't mean much now days! The mk3 anni was ok, mk4 poor, and this one really is scraping the barrel..... -
looks cool, i bet it won't cost that little over here! :(

New Car Time - My hand has been forced Alfa here I come!!!!!

thats a concept car! All manufacturers have cool concepts, but the cars that get produced are all very much within the box! Look at Alfa's concept cars, then you'll see some real design... -
if you search on google for hpi checks there are places that do it properly for aroung £15 instead of 30 or 40...... If you don't mind not having it on paper you can text a number and it costs £5.... i will try and find out who this is!! :)

mattosmond replied to Blue_Joe's topic in General Car Chat
at the end of the day if you buy an alfa and keep it for 3 years it will be under warranty so if stuff does go wrong it won't cost you a packet!!! and it does look much better than the saab.... saab are like merceds now not quite what they used to be,,,,, poorer build quality etc..... i know it's not quite as 'cool' but the new skoda octavia vrs looks pretty nice,,, they have slighty rounded it a bit so it's not so harsh to look at and pretty good value for money! -
or a caddy van!!! :)

Please may i recommend Barry Swift (Mobile: 07944605055) i have been using him now for two years with a variety of vw's and he is by far the best mechanic i have used. His rates are very reasonable too... he is a mobile mechanic, and is vw trained, worked for merc etc etc... very knowledgable... will diagnose your problem over the phone most of the time! For example: this work was done on my mk3 golf GTi 2.0 8v New timing belt and tensioner New water pump Coolant Cleaned out throttle body New alternator belt and PAS belt Parts and labour came to £183 But he makes sure the car is running as sweet as possible, rather than just doing the work quoted for...... To bloke.... :thumbleft:

Yeah. The thing is people in this country are massive brand snobs, and seem to think that VW aren't as good/posh as audi/bmw. I'd rather be a dude in a dub than a tw*t in a beemer any day of the week! :) but hopefully vw will price it right and for all the intelligent people who want performance but don't want to pay £40,000+ for it, then it will be the perfect tonic!!! i wonder what the fuel figs are? Seems strange with all the hoo hah about big gas guzzlers that vw would even both developing this!
-
saw this the other day, looks pretty cool.... should give bmw and audi a run for their money in the estate market!!!
-
where would the busies put their doughnuts in that...
-
how much will you be wanting? With that mileage and in very good nick i would have thought yours would be worth more than others out there.... i think people are quickly becoming wise to the fact that there are lots of people trying to ask top dollar for high mileage vr's..... (and by yours being a low mileage example it should be pretty sought after!)

do you do micra? :D
