Yeah that's true actually. I know, I can't do anything without VAG-COM. I've got VAAG-COM just not got the proper lead. I have a cheap one but it doesn't work. Is there any way of getting it to work do you know? When I go in to the Options and test the COM port it finds the lead and says all is OK but when I go in to scan Engine Codes it can't connect.

I'd just pay the extra and buy original VW parts mate, remember buy cheap buy twice and generally with rubber parts like this and bushes etc copy parts don't last very long at all! You original top mounts have lasted years so if you buy original they will as well 8)

It's definitely when under load. At stand still it sounds lush when you rev it up, when driving though it sounds like a scooby! Forgot about injectors! :brickwall: It's only done 6k miles so they should be squeeky clean

Cheers Karl, I'll have a look for some of them. It's running on all 6 cylinders and the coils are all fine! Ran the engine hot earlier, idles fine but a bit vibratey. Disconnected the coils 1 by 1 and every one made it lumpy as feck when removed. Also tried disconnecting each lambda, which both made the idle go lower and start to die like it was before I put the new lambda in. Tried disconnecting the MAF and it died. So all 6 cylinders are running but it's not massively quick and sounds imo quite rough and not typical R32 (like Ben's mate's R32 Storm does for example!). I now know it's not the coils and don't think it's lambdas. What could it be? VAG-COM should hopefully clear things up!
-
Yeah was thinking about replacing the plugs as well. I'm not sure which ones it takes, should hopefully be able to get some from a normal car parts place tomorrow though.
-
All the errors were cleared by Vince last weekend and then re-scanned to bring up the lambda problem. I'd have thought it would have had the coil problem then though which they would have pointed out? I have a feeling it may be something else :( I haven't ran the throttle adaption through VAG-COM yet no. What's the procedure? I'll see if I can do it at a local garage tomorrow.
-
Well I spoke to Vince earlier and he reckons if it's idling happier and revving the whole range (which it is) but is lumpy and bit slow it could easily be a coil gone as apparently they are as common to fail as on the 1.8T's. VAG-COM should tell me this so I'm gunna see if the local VW specialist garage will accept pleasure in return for a session with his VAG-COM :camp: But I can test it easily enough by just running the engine and removing them one by one to see if any make no difference. So hopefully that's all the problem is and I will soon have some proper R32 goodness!

Coxys R32 4 Motion Corrado - On the Road!!!!

I'm so jealous :( mine's not half as quick as it should be!!! I reckon it's only running on 4! -
Yeah that's why I haven't put it in yet as I could hopefully get my money back for it if I don't touch it. Although I bet they'll be funny about it as I had to pre-pay for it as it's not a stock item. I will keep hold of it until it's been SHAG-COMed.
-
Just buy a bloody VAG-COM lead Rob!!!!!111111!!!! :camp: I will get the proper Ross-Tech one soon, I'm literally in the middle of buying a house though, I have 2 fees to pay at the end of the month and I have already forked out for 2 new lambdas and insurance deposit of £250 this month and need to tax it still! :pale: :help:
-
I don't know for certain  I'll have to try the new one then. Definitely need VAG-COM though!
-
Sounds like a normal R32 engine to me  Only kidding. Sounds like it's still a lambda issue to me as you said only one of the new ones is right? I ordered the 2 correct Bosch lambdas, when i got home I took my lambdas off and checked the Bosch part numbers against the new ones. One of my original lambdas had the same Bosch part number as one of the new ones, so I have left the original on so I can give the new one back. The other lambda I had in was completely wrong so I put the new one in. It now has both the correct lambdas (I hope!) but ones new and ones used.
-
Yep definitely not in limp mode as it revs to the top of the range but it feel like you only have the throttle part open and so it's not really that quick if you get me, and sounds rough. I have only been taking it on a few short trips, I've driven it to work today though to give it a bit more of a run. It's also got a big flat spot, on part throttle it feels like it has the urge to go and goes quite well, but as soon as you press the throttle it goes flat and then just slowly accelerates :confused4:
-
I don't think I need the CAN-BUS one
-
Yeah I think there might be another trip to Vince this weekend :( He's been really good so far though, I've been to his 3 saturdays and he's not charged a penny for helping with the ECU and checking lambdas etc :notworthy:
-
Already got a green on in mate, it's running the standard grey one, the green one and then the yellow VR one for the clocks. Yeah I need to invest in VAG-COM, I can't afford it at the min with buying a house at the same fcuking time!! :brickwall:
-
Well the car's a bit better but far from perfect. One of my lambdas (CH) was the right one, the bosch part number on it was the same as one of the new ones, so just stuck the other in for now. It still wasn't very happy when it got hot, swapped them round and idled much better. It's not in limp mode as revs past 4k. Took it out and it's far from quick yet, I don't think it's running on all cylinders. It sounds rough, definitely not normal sexy R32 noise, just loud and lumpy. Checked the plugs and all look the same and are in good nick  There's little I can do really without VAG-COM, it's doing my head in though! :help:
-
Got the new lambdas, they look like lambdas and the plugs look right so touch wood they work! I think to begin with ~270bhp will be quick enough, it's gunna be no way like ~270bhp I had when my VR was rotrexed as this thing wants to pull instantly in 5th gear sitting at 30 so it should be fun!! Hopefully tonight I'll find out!
-
Well I'm picking the Bosch ones up in a minute so I can test them tonight and if they still don't work I may have to!!
-
Not sure about on after run but when we had the car running getting hot at Stealth the fan came on. I don't think my aux pump works though, think that may have been controlled by the fan controller and we've ditched it, not sure tbh  Vince is the man who will answer all questions
-
Which ones the AD or AR or the new ones I got from Vince don't exist? :confused4:
-
Hmm might have been AR, I can't remember. I'll know for definite when I take them off tomorrow. So the CH is the right one then? The part numbers I got from Vince (who got them froma dealer) are 1K0 998 262 K for right bank and 1k0 998 262 N for left. This is confusing stuff
-
Leon I can confirm that my fan works without the nasty fan controller, if you are giving your wiring to Vince he will explain everything you need. Also worth noting, I have had to use 3 sensors in my stat housing, the grey R32 one, a standard VAG (got mine for a 1.8T) green one, and then the VR's original yellow one (which I now have working to provide the clocks with the temp). You'll probs need to speak to Vince about just using the 2 as can't remember what the green one's for.
-
Ahh that's a shame Neil :( oh well! You could do me a favor actually and probs find out what the ones I have are? The part numbers are 022 906 262 CH on the left bank and 022 906 262 AD on the right. I also have another lambda which is 022 906 262 BL and I don't know what any of them are for  If you could clear it up then it would make flogging them all a bit easier for me
-
Good stuff! Mine's in limp mode at the minute and still goes like fook  You can tame down the throttle response in the mapping, mine's had it done apparently, wouldn't know though as it's still ridiculous. You are right about it not feeling very refined around town, mine's the same, very stop start but I think that's mainly down to not being used to the sharp throttle response! I'm getting used to it a bit more now.
