  1. well yes and no, i have a vw eos loom powering the audi ecm, and a vw r32 pedal which may be a mk4 that controls the audi horses . but some components are model specific such as the maf sensor (im led to believe). So with a little research and gut feeling/luck you can use a combination of parts. Yeah I suppose a lot of the parts would just be shared, but I just know that Vince had a mk2 R32 conversion at his when I was getting my wiring done and it had an Audi lump and used some R32 parts and he ended up having to get all the correct bits. Not sure which bits exactly though. Mine was fussy with the lambda probes, I got ones for the audi lump 2nd hand but my ECU didn't like them.
  2. I will say, if you are having to source parts, try and get the right parts for the right engine i.e. if it's an Audi lump get the Audi parts and same with the Mk5 lump etc. Reason being is even though they're the same lump, they're not happy with different parts here there and everywhere so if you want it to go smoothly stick with the correct parts, you'll only end up buying again otherwise (or so Vince has said!).
  3. Karl's was a Mk4 lump I believe so wouldn't have used an FPR as the MK4 has one on the fuel line like the VR. Just the Mk5 lumps need an FPR. Good luck with the conversion though dude, if you're handy with a spanner you shouldn't find it too difficult, the mechanical side of it is easy really, it's the wiring and the faffing about getting it running right afterwards that takes the time!
  4. What have you done to it? Thats not a bad figure that could tempt me over to running one Nothing fancy just a mk5 R32 lump with Dubpower 6-branch, no cat, miltek cat-back and a crappy open air filter, plus a Vince remap = 278bhp NA 8) Mine however is suffering from a flat spot in the torque which no-body else seems to have, no idea what is causing it, thought it was the inlet manifold but I tried another one last weekend and although first impressions were it's better when I put my inlet back on it was pretty much the same :(

    Rota wheels

Too much girth does cause a little friction mate  At the end of the day, they are MASSIVE wheels compared to the stock 6.5x15s  A problem I have quite often ;) Yeah they are big buggers, I wasn't expecting absolute zero rubbing really, but they're pretty good, it's literally just when reversing a bit quickly when turning I get a bit of rubbing. No catching over bumps with people in the back though, but like I said I have had the arches done!
  6. It is a much cleaner engine though, when I had mine MOT'd the emissions were only just over the limit and I have no cats or anything, it very rarely pops and bangs any unburnt fuel on overrun etc so they are improved, but mine is kicking out near as damnit 280bhp so it's using 280bhp's worth of fuel at the end of the day. On a run I imagine it would be similar to the VR but I've not really had any big runs in mine yet and I can't help but squeeze the throttle on all occasions

    Rota wheels

I've not had any issues so far but as Kev said I had my arches rolled back in the days when I had uber wide Brocks on (and they did catch!). I seem to get a bit of rubbing at the front when reversing though with these

    Rota wheels

    sorry dude!
  9. Yeah the 3.2 is a thirsty engine when giving it some. Mine's thirstier now than the VR was when Rotrexed! :(

    Rota wheels

Yeah here's is mine on 8x17 ET35 Rota Force's: You wouldn't want them any bigger than this really, they're c0ck on imo! 8)
  11. Yeah the leather interior is much heavier than cloth! Kev weighed his car and it wasn't much over claimed figures and he has all his turbo stuff and charge cooler water tank in the boot etc.
  12. Thanks guys! I'm really happy with how the car's looking now. Just got to get it driving a bit better now, it's getting there though. Cheers mate. Nope arches are standard, the wider wheels just bring them out a bit I think, the RX's looked weedy  That's interesting! Well Mort came round yesterday and I tried his inlet manifold on mine and initial thoughts were that it was better, when we first fired the car up it sounded different but when driving it was quite similar. I thought it was fixed but I detected some flat spots still and when I got my old inlet back on and took it out it was actually pretty much the same. I actually think it's getting faster now, I keep forgetting that it had only done ~6k miles when I put it in so it's still running in! I know exactly what you mean mate, I initially thought white would be wrong but I love how it looks, it works so well with the blackberry imo!
  13. Looks like a really tidy install mate! No worries about not making it to mine, I'm not a million miles from you so you can pop round any time! If you want some help writing up a guide gimma a shout, I might have some useful pics as well.
  14. yeh the sump is low mate, but with even doing the gearbox mount it raises the one side of the sump by about 10mm, and flattens it out nicely, you can raise the front mount by 15mm max then it hits the bonnet though. must pop down to yours sometime mate so i can see what i never had the chance to drive. Well it's not that the sump is too low because it actually sits higher than the std VR one did, it's just too far back meaning it's quite close to the subframe where the wishbone bolt is. Me and Kev discovered it the other week when I replaced my wishbone bushes. I wondered how far the front would be able to go without touching the bonnet! Pop down any time mate, i'm still in same town as my old place you would have last visited.
  15. Yeah I thought about raising the mount slightly with an adaptor of some kind. Think I'd need to do the same for the front so the sump isn't as close to the subframe!
  16. Yep I'm about all weekend, I have no other life now I've bought a house AND drive an R32 rado daily  PM on it's way mate!
  17. I'm in Rushden mate not a million miles away from Peterborough, you're welcome to pop round any time and have a gander at mine! I had the same issues with mine, it was originally resting on the tunnel. Pete came over and we heated the downpipes up and tried bending them but we barely budged them so we end up taking an angle grinder to the edge so it didn't touch the tunnel. Pete was baffled by why mine was touching as well and even suggested I'd put the engine in on the piss ... not sure how I would manage that considering it can only go in one way when all mounts are lined up! What mounts are you using? If running different ones they might have one side of the engine ever so slightly higher? I originally had a VT front and VT gearbox with std rear, I hated the vibrations so changed the gearbox to a MK2 diesel mount from GSF which made the engine much smoother to drive but also slightly moved the position of the downpipes again. Actually whilst on the topic of mounts etc, have you seen how close your sump sits to your o/s wishbone/subframe? Mine's hitting the subframe when letting the throttle off violently as it's only about an inch away!
  18. Yeah I think I just used a big screwdriver, gradually levering around it until it pops off.
  19. It should just come off Andy, mine did easily enough when I had to transfer it to the R32 lump!
  20. Yeah it was pretty dirty as it hadn't been washed for a few weeks  And yeah they look reeeeeeally white when cleaned up, I love them more and more the more I see them, especially when clean! 8)
  21. Gave the car a wash at the weekend and took a quick picture of it with my phone, thought it looked pretty good so thought I'd share it with everyone
  22. Yeah it's essentially a turbo compressor housing with supercharger gearing and back end attached!
  23. Looking good dude! Glad you liked the trip out in my car, it was driving quite nice that day I'll admit, still does my head in though  Your car's going to be a beast when it's done! :luvlove:
  24. Here's how mine was with the exhaust all on. Also what engine mounts are you running? I was VT front and gearbox and std rear, I changed the gearbox to a mk2 golf diesel one (which certainly helped with engine vibration and smoothness!) and that helped the exhaust alignment slightly as the solid mount was slight higher I think.
  25. Dubpower manifold by any chance? Mine's the same, I even had Pete out with a fcuking great gas bottle and blow torch and we tried bending them slightly, we budged them just enough to not touch but they're still too tight and they push the rest of the exhaust out and mine now rattles on everything! :bad-words: The problem is, Pete developed these manifolds for the Mk2 Golf and is selling them as Corrado ones as well even though the alignment is clearly not correct. When I was last at Stealth they had a Mk2 with R32 and Dubpower manifolds and they fit perfect on that, mine was exactly the same as yours.
