  1. WOW lots of response  Thanks everyone, I'm really pleased with it so far and have really pleased myself doing it all on my own (apart from wiring obviously and have had The Wire's help with getting it running god love him ), just a shame the ECU is naff but that should be easy enough to resolve once I can source one, I'll ring a few places up tomorrow and see if I can get one. By the way the ECU I need is: 022 906 032 CD which is for a Mk5 Golf R32 BUB engine code. I haven't had a drive in it yet, I might wait and get the clocks wired up first as I don't want to go cutting in to the carpets just yet as they'll be coming out to swap with Pat McCrotch for his beige interior (soooo glad I got in there first, sorry Jim!) so he won't want holes everywhere! I'll just have to stick the pedal on the dash and press it with my hand  Or just use shed loads of velcro for now maybe, might be a bit floppy though
  2. Cheers guys, yeah I'm loving how well it's looking in the bay, suits the car/colour perfectly! Pete the cone I got on it now is only temporary really, had it lying around from when it was charged, I'm getting a BMC for it. Good shout on the vag-doctor, i'll give them a bell. Haven't really looked at the inlet manifold whilst revving it hard tbh :confused4: Coullstar, I think it sounds really tame in the video actually, it's much much raspier in person, sounds fcuking vicious!! 8)
  3. I'm getting there, will be very chuffed when I can drive the thing! Won't be long though (although been saying that for weeeeeks now )
  4. Update time! Took the ECU to Stealth today to test it in a working Mk2 R32 (with the same mk5 engine) to see if the ECU could be the cause ofit not revving ... and yes it was! Plugged it in and was exactly the same, idled fine but wouldn't rev. So Vince then took the chip out my ECU to check the software but he couldn't see any issues. He then tested my chip in the other ECU and it revved fine so wasn't software. We think something was damaged in the ECU when the donor car had the fire ... so it's new ECU time :( :( Vince has kept hold of my ECU to see if he can salvage it but at same time is keeping his eyes open for another ECU as will I. For now though, Vince has lent me a spare ECU he had, it's not perfect though, it's from an Audi and the ECU number is weird, he said it's not mk4 but not mk5 and so the maps are a bit dodgy. It's just had the immobilizer removed and everything else is standard including the map, car runs fine with it on but obviously it will be erroring due to rear lambdas etc, but it'll be drivable to get the car finished. Got it back plugged it all back together and she now revs  So took a few more pics and this time a video 8) [youtube:jjw3v9i8] [/youtube:jjw3v9i8] Just a few more wiring bits for the clocks and bolt the pedal down and she's pretty much there! Now some pics 8)
  5. You can get a CAN-BUS converter for the clocks, I've had to use one for my R32 conversion keeping my old clocks. I got mine from Stealth when Vince done my wiring loom so not sure where you'd get one from  Good progress though, I'm looking forward to seeing what's to come!
  6. Well when you put it that way
  7. Not sure what he had to repair tbh, it was the internal stuff that was burnt, the engine loom was perfectly fine and he tested the ECU and that was all ok. It should hopefully be something simple! I bloody hope it is, it's starting to do my head in having it sitting there running perfectly fine but can't do feck all with it :censored:
  8. Still no luck and am out of ideas now so I'm going to have to take the ECU, pedal etc to Stealth and they are going to test them on a working R32 conv they have in at the moment. Hopefully they can shed some light and it's only a minor issue!
  9. Go for the BBS, putting heavy replica wheels on will ruin just about everything with the ride/handling etc! The lighter the wheels the better, especially with 17's as the corrado doesn't really like them and tends to tramline more, much better with lightweight 17's though.
  10. Nice one Toad mate! Glad it passed and you can finally drive it  A credit to your hard work :notworthy:
  11. Yeah as mentioned really, it'll be an air lock. Run the car with the heaters on full blast whilst squeezing pipes, let it get to temperature and when the stat opens (about 90 degrees) the level should drop, keep it topped up. Keep squeezing pipes (as said they'll get pretty hot so wear gloves or use something to squeeze them!) and air should gradually work its way out, you'll know if you have a big air lock as eventually it will come out and the water level will drop again.
  12. Yeah I imagine it is, think a chip takes it to about 220bhp but the torque would be huge! 8) Will defo get this chipped at some point, we want all the colour coded skirts etc for it as well at some points, expensive though from Audi
  13. I know, bloody cars, chuffing love them though  Yeah we scanned it at Stealth when I picked my wiring up, can't remember the code but it was something like Inlet Manifold Pressure Sensor that was throwing an error. Vince reckons it could be this little map sensor that he's replaced before on other VAG diesels with similar symptoms but he's not done a V6 one so couldn't find it to show me. I need to have a look really
  14. You're not kidding! When I followed you back from Stealth the acceleration wasn't proportional to the amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust  Exactly! It'll go well when it's sorted out though, the torque it had before was immense being a V6 diesel! My dad wants to get it chipped at some point, that'll be nice 8)
  15. Yeah forgot to say in my post that it's not mine  It's my old mans but he NEVER uses it as he lives in his work van  so it sat there on the drive for months and months so I'm giving it some good use now my car's off the road! My parents bought it new for like £28k or something, hardly worth that now, probs worth about £7-8k maybe at it's best :confused4: It's the 180bhp Sport one although it doesn't feel as sporty as the C, i'd rather be driving that any day of the week, much more feel when driving at pace whereas in this you have no feedback at all from the steering so have no indication as to whether it will grip when entering a corner quickly! The 4wd is nice though, but the tyres are on their way out so you can get some nice 4 wheel drifts in the wet, but never very long ones as you run out of revs just as you get the tail out  I might end up keeping it as a daily at some point though I reckon, I have a feeling when my car's done it won't get used at all and my dad won't get rid of it so i might offer to keep it going for him  When running properly and when not thrashing it so much the fuel economy isn't that bad, not great at the min though, 30mpg at a push I reckon it's doing :gag:
  16. Yeah heard about the variable vanes being stuck, thank for the info on the Innotec stuff though, will give that a try!
  17. I've tried Googling the error codes but anyone else who's had them have had other faults at the same time and when they cure them they are all fixed! Nothing so far has linked in with the pedal :( Hopefully Vince will have some ideas! Meanwhile I thought I'd post some pics of 'The Daily' as gave it a good clean yesterday and thought it deserved some appreciation. Not a bad daily, certainly better than the Mk2 Polo Squareback I had last year  It's not perfect though, something is dodgy causing the turbo to just come in whenever it feels like it and only at about half boost when it does, so it's gutless at the min :( comfy though and quiet 8)
  18. Not sure really, i'm guessing the contact wears down. You can see on the pics that as the arm goes up and down with the fuel it rubs a contact along a sensor, this must wear down causing irratic behaviour at a guess :confused4:
  19. The arm that clips on mate :)
  20. On the car or on the pictures of ladies? Oh are you doing something to the car then?
  21. Jeez Chris read the thread a bit before posting   already got the new pedal and it still doesn't work so won't be making it to edition unless I can figure out in the week what's wrong, fix it and fit the pedal etc by the weekend!!
  22. Jesus, i'm glad I looked at this thread   Good work dude!
  23. You wouldn't need to change the pump as long as it's still working fine and not noisy or anything, it'll most likely just be the sender that's playing up. AFAIK you can get just the sender from the dealer, no idea on price though :confused4:
  24. Yeah the car stars and idles fine mate, just won't rev and VAG-COM error is saying Accelerator Signal Too Low or something along those lines. Stays the same with the pedal disconnected. But if you say yours isn't throwing errors when the pedal is disconnected then it must be something else  Well Kev will be ringing Vince tomorrow so hopefully he'll have an idea! Haven't tried the mk4 pedal no, not sure if it works with mk5 or not :confused4:
