Anton Sobriquet replied to Critical_Mass's topic in Parts for Sale
£10 for the rad cover posted? -
PM'd you
-
Found them this time, as you said, under 'Electrical'. Thanks again, Ian.
-
Thanks, Ian. Actually thought I may as well go for heated since we've got the wiring... Assume that'll be an 'A' or 'B' suffix on the part no. I couldn't find them in VAGCAT although I looked carefully. Where did you find them?

Hi guys Just about to get a new carbon bonnet fitted and want to use Mk4 screen washers to avoid drilling it. Anyone got the part nos for Mk4 screen washers and will I need any other Mk4 parts to do the job? Thanks.

Badgeless Grille & Left door mirror plastic cover
Anton Sobriquet replied to Anton Sobriquet's topic in Wanted
Deal at 20 quid, mate. Can you PM payment details, please? -
Hi Just broke the lugs off my badegless grille trying to get the bonnet open after the release cable snapped, so need a replacement. Must be mint with all lugs intact, of course. Rear plastic cover for passenger side door mirror, ideally in moonlight blue but any colour will do. Drivers' lower door pin would be handy, too, if anyone's got one that isn't as worn as mine.

Bottom door pin & pass door mirror back cover
Anton Sobriquet replied to Anton Sobriquet's topic in Wanted
Yep, just the plastic cover on the back - passenger side. -
Anyone able to help me with a bottom door pin and a passenger door mirror back cover? Colour of the mirror cover not important.
-
Sounds good, mate. Can you post a pic?
-
Caught the passenger door mirror a glancing blow on my mother's driveway fence and broke off the lower section, so looking for a replacement for my late VR. Would ideally like one in moonlight blue but any colour will do.
-
I could certainly be interested, if it's a rolling late VR and depending on how far into the future you're thinking.
-
Shame about the inspection covers, otherwise it would be quite straightforward. How close are they to your boundary, ie, what will become the entry point to the new driveway - the part which is not still pavement?
-
Repair kits can be had from the dealers. I just bought both sides for a Passat moonroof for £81.60. Would've thought Corrado ones would be the same price or very similar. 90 quid for a sunroof with all new or nearly new parts is a steal. A new motor alone cost £247 and I think they're now obsolete.
-
I have a pedal box from a late model Corrado, which I bought for a Mk2 project but was unable to finish. It's sitting in my garage in excellent condition. I'm looking to get my money back at £45.
-
I bought mine on eBay for about 45 quid a couple of years ago. Genuine VW posted from Germany. No idea which ones they are but I've got the part numbers somewhere. They're different sizes. Perfect fit, driver and passenger.

Take the plastic trim off the A pillar and around the top of the door (with grab handle in it) and the plastic underneath the A pillar forward of the door, then pour water across the corner of the roof where you think it might be leaking in. If it is, you'll see water running down the A pillar and either the adhesive that bonds the screen to the flange is bad and/or you've got rot in the flange. If it is leaking, when the plastic trim's in place, water will collect between the end of the dash and the door card (when the door's shut), and then drip onto the floor. Keep the water away from the sunroof while you do this and then when you've tested the screen pour water over the sunroof and check whether the front drain is clear. You should see water running out from the back of the arch but check inside the car at the same time. If it's bad enough to soak your carpets I would have thought you'd see damp on the headlining, too, so chances are the water is getting in elsewhere. You said in another thread it was wet around the pedals. I'd check out the arch bonding when you've got the carpet and felt out.

There was a VW screen listed in TPS' system at Gilder VW but it had long gone. They've been obsolete for a time. Price would have been £218 + VAT. The local guy quoted something like £250 all in IIRC. Didn't make a note as he's supposed to be sending an estimate. There are 2 makes, I believe, Sekurit and Pilkington. There's a windscreen thread knocking about where someone warns off Pilkington's as they're not the right shape and don't fit. I may be wrong but I think Sekurit supplied VW and just put the VW logo on them. Autoglass offered me either green tint or plain, which were both originally available from VW. I suppose green tint was maybe an optional extra.

Discovered the foliage guard seal was still available from VW after all, thanks to another thread, so I got one from TPS and then orderd another as a spare for good measure. It's the foliage guard itself which is now obsolete, not the seal. Managed to get the rubber piece off I'd stuck on and replaced it with the VW seal, poured water all around and, thank you god, no sign of anything leaking into the car. I also poured water over the sunroof, which drained as it should, and nothing came in from that source either. The door drain is working, the membrane is OK as are the door seals and the arch bonding looks excellent from the inside. So, hopefully, apart from the leak in the screen, which will get sorted when a new screen goes on, the car seems to be watertight again. Typically, it hasn't rained at all since my repair, let alone rained hard. I'm getting an estimate for the screen work from a local guy recommended by the bodyshop to pass on to the insurers, who may be amenable to me using him, but my policy says £100 only for anyone other than Autoglass (actually Highway Glassware). I called Autoglass for an estimate and they quoted me £678.57 for a non-insured repair. Not cheap. As luck would have it the screen developed a crack just to the RHS of centre, vertically down from the roof, around 50mm long, so it's now junk. I probably did it (unintentionally, honest!) when gouging out the mastic but didn't notice at the time. My MOT is up in about 10 days but I don't think the crack's a fail as it's outside the designated area. Hope not anyway.

There used to be an 'Outbox' on the old forum where sent messages went until they'd been read, so I would think your assumption is correct and they have to be read before they appear in 'Sent'.

VAG800M - vibra technics front engine mount wanted money waiting!!!!!!!

I think you've postedin the wrong forum, mate. Shouldn't this be in 'Wanted'? -
I've recently had similar problems but on the passenger side. Culprit seems to have been the foliage guard seal in the scuttle. That's now fixed and the car passed the hose test the other day. Another likely source is the heater matrix, but you'd probably know because the car would be full of condensation and steam up a lot. The door membranes are defo worth checking, as are the door and window seals, the door drains, the sunroof drains, and evil of evils, the arch bonding to the body. It can rust and rot at the bond and seems a likely candidate in your case. The outer windscreen rubber is really only cosmetic. The screen is bonded to a flange, which seals out the elements and the rubber just sits on top. What can happen, as it has on mine, is that water gets trapped behind the rubber when the screen isn't fitted properly and rusts and rots the flange. If it's really bad it can then leak wind and water. If you carefully remove the rubber so you don't stretch it you'll be able to see what I mean. If there's mastic in the flange holding the rubber seal in, it's likely a poor windscreen fit, because it shouldn't need any, and might just be leaking throught the bonding adhesive. If both front and rear carpets are wet, though, it would be a serious leak and it seems unlikely to have all come thro' the screen without you noticing, although if it runs down behind the plastic trim under the A pillar, that is a possibility. I found the soundproofing felt was absolutely saturated when I took it out even tho' the carpet felt dryish and after draining and drying it, it looks pretty nackered. I found this while looking around for something to replace it:- http://www.automobiletrim.com/sound-proofing.html Hope this helps.
