Neuspeed 160 Degree thermostat questions
BeavisJem replied to Son of a Beesting's topic in Engine Bay
don't want to hijack the thread but my water temps never go higher than 85, normal driving it sits around 75-80. It used to sit at 100 all day long before the coolant change. Is this something to be concerned about? Its just a standard gsf stat Cheers Beavisjem -
83mm pistons? Can anyone shed some light on what different pistons offer. Are 2 sets of 83mm pistons from different companies different? Cheers Beavisjem

What advantages are there with the more expensive option. I just want a New big valve head from Darren and was wondering what the best match was for the bottom, not too interested in going to the extremes of the engine. Just a nice reliable quick G60 I like the idea of a brand new engine in the bonnet, Would it be worth finding a nice new block and put new internals in it, i think darren can provide a brand new block for about £900. If so i might do that, just wondering if there is a performance option that is not silly money. Would rather build another engine and put it in and keep the original head and block from my car together, Not to interested in the 1.8t conversion at the moment. I might go turbo in a couple of years so i want a nice flowing head and good bottom end so that i can take advantage if i ever get bored of the Supercharger. Still looking for somewhere that will do a centrufugal (sp?) cluch for the supercharger that disengages at 3500rpm and keeps it spinning. Then i wouldn't mind the turbo G60 and run a small pully for the low down grunt and the turbo for the top end :) But that's a little time off in the future. Cheers Chris

I am going to go for a big engine overhal in the next coupe of months and i was wondering what are the options for the bottom end. I was going to look at the CNC head from g-werks and was wondering what options i have when it comes to the block. I wanted to go for somthing at the same time as the head and basically Have a new engine. Is it worth going to 1940 bottom end or stick with the 1.8. What kind of prices am i looking to pay? Do they come with the internals, pistons etc Cheers Chris Beavis

Hi Nick I went for the full respray. I had quote ranging from £1000 - £3000 I settle with a guy who normally does insurance jobs and was willing to do the car between his other jobs for £1000 cash. Only problem was it would take 4 weeks to complete. It should have cost alot more but i stripped the car myself. I took the whole interior out except the dash I removed all the windows - front windscreen was helped out by my foot :) insurance repalced it :) had a big crack in it anyways. Just cut very carfully round the other windoes, they are all siliconed in. Took out the sunroof and sunroof assembely. Bumpers, grill basically everything except removing engine or wheels. Was a scary time but so glad i had gone to the effort. Just give us a shout if you want any more advice.

Woo Hoo just found my car outside my studio. Must be about 4 months old Beavisjem -
I know what you mean about G60's being up and down. Unfortuantly i never seem to have everything on my rado working at the same time lol.

Refering to the top vid. Is that the normal kind of acceleration for a 68mm G60. My 3rd gear seems much more sluggishat 60.

Hmmmmm Went to have my full supersprint cat back put on and miltek decat pipe. First of all the brackets on the supersprint were the wrong way round so you couldn;t put the rubbers on it. :| (thank you mr fabrication man) Couldn;t fit the miltek because who ever changed the lamba sensor on my car screw it in on the wonk and ruined the threat  and suprise suprise little old norwich wouldn;t have one anywhere in stock. so i had to put the cat back on and drive away without the miltek fitted. Getting it fitted start of next week will let you know how well it fits. Beavisjem

lol no one aproched me, i sat in the drivers seat trying to pull the fuse out or the alarm to reset it so the fob would work (doesn;t deactivate when you pull the fuse) so i did look like i was hot wiring it. Under the dash and all. lol But i am 6'1" with long hair and swearing alot so they probably just left me alone :)

 My clifford alarm has now just given up on me, couldn;t disarm the alarm in the middle of a busy underground carpark. Not amusing when everyone thinks you've just broken into your own car and you realise the siren is really loud in an underground carpark. Took alot of swearing and about 2 mins of the alarm going off for me to stop it. Drove off looking a little red faced. When is it going to end Beavisjem

you will need to undo the driveshaft bolt on the hub to give you enough room. There is a circlip holding the driveshaft on. Just need to undo the 8 splined bolts. Beavisjem

lol i don't mind, might take my mind off my car Went to get me a new tyre after the flat and had to buy 2 new ones. When he inflated the flat tyre it had a large bulge in the tyre wall :( And while cheking the other front he noticed it was very low on tread Only have the money for some elcheapo tyres. so i got a couple of Kings ( ) 205/40/17 at £35 a peice. And a local heads up for Havers tyres. Best inderpendant tyre fitter in Norwich. Beavisjem "looks at wallet shakes head" then "looks at carrado, nodds head"

Check to see your injectors arn;t weeping. They will cause the car to act like its flooded when you try to start it -
Hmm starting to annoy me now. Got up this morning and the thing wouldn;t open. Wouldn;t disarm, opend the door with key set off the alarm sitll couldn;t stop the thing. Had to get another fob. Going to replace the bateries in both alarm fobs today. Did this about a month ago. I really don't want to go to Norwich InCar Entertainment (NICE) in norwich to get it sorted. They seem to be the only clifford dealers near me. When i went in before they wanted £60 to look at my alarm and just from what i had told them they diagnosed it as a faulty siren (£80) and they still wanted £60 to look at it. It wasn't even the siren that was faulty........ Anyone?
