I've just seen an ad for a VR for sale here in Dubai. :D Just sent an email asking for some pictures and more details. It was only two days ago I saw an ad for a Mk1 Golf Cabby too.. I'm pretty sure they're like rocking horse poo here. Watch this space...

I was just about to post this one... his ploy seems to be working too, 3400 for a 2005 1.2 Clio.. WTF.

Jim's Corrado - ciao to the Fiat! Hello to.. (P64)
ziderapple replied to Jim's topic in Members Gallery
to quote Sonicriots current thread title - about feckin time too!! Am actually really pleased to see your getting a VR Jim. Seems like you've been on about it since I first started lurking on the forum years ago! good work. -
If I was still living in the UK I'd be all over this. You can't import UK cars into the UAE, steering wheel's on the wrong side :( Good luck with the sale, however in truth I'm hoping you hang on to it for some time and I'll buy it on my return. :) I think you should just sell your (or the wifes) kidneys to fund the S3 and dry store this..

I went to a really great gig recently, I'd never heard of the guy before, Brett Dennen. Awesome performance, great stage presence, had the whole crowd singing along, laughing, it was just a really fun gig. I downloaded his album Hope For The Hopeless the next day and its getting played alot. The musics a bit folky, he has been described as the master of the new soothing music genre. Check him out.

James. I want your car. :luvlove: Its looking so fresh, gotta love the stance, the arches, the wheels and the fact its got a few extra ponies. Fair play to you mate, one of the best C's around IMO. :salute:

should it stay or should it go?? vr6 /1.8t.......
ziderapple replied to C488ADO's topic in Engine Bay
Get yourself a 2.8 block, you can pick them up dirt cheap, condition is not really important as you just get the bores machined to match your 2.9 pistons and re-use them! Like having a new block with no ware on the bores. easy peasy lemon sqeezy. :D -
I want some of those trees.... seriously! They have to be the Chuck Norris of the tree world - the shot facing down the road shows they are all intact.

Hello again I'm back and have a quick query

Agreed, its nasty stuff. Crack a few eggs into the coolant header tank instead. :D On a more serious note, just change the matrix before it goes pop.

Living is not a problem really as I'm in Dubai and thats sorted, but the issue is it's a lot of savings to blow on a car!! The downside is its 5 door and red, but I can live with that. I've only seen 5 doors out here - I think the insurance on a 3 door model is significantly higher. I need to double check on the price as its been for sale for a long time now, but the one I heard mooted from the UAE VW club administrator means it a steal really, especially when you consider the kit costs over €20,000!

I have had far too much time on my hands and so have managed to join the local VW club / forum and started having a browse. Well in the classified section there is a 2008 Mk5 R32 thats had the the stage two HGP treatment by the local branch of MTM - I'm pretty sure they were responsible for that Chromed A8. I've contacted the seller who has said hes free for me to come and view it anytime... 495PS 610Nm 4 Wheel drive. DSG :D Or in old money 488BHP and 450lb/ft  Oh my.... It's affordable too, well if I spunk the house deposit!

Anyone thinking of going the ph sunday service?
ziderapple replied to lycara's topic in General Car Chat
I can understand alot of the sentiments on the PH thread, look at how much the ED38 show has changed in such a short period (chavs), and the VW scene in general; lets face it many of the cars now have had no real love, blood, sweat and tears poured in, nor are they special in the first place... A slammed mk4 on 18" RCs and some colour coded bits of bodywork. Yawn. I'll always be more interested in the older VWs, the rarer more special models, or ones that have undergone heavy (mechanical) modification to make them something really special. The last few shows I went to, I'll admit, I was soon bored of the row upon row of Golfs, with the exception of a handful, but, no not yours mate with the faux-leather trimmed head lights, tool kit, German number plate and boot full of neons and subs, but that scruffy ass Mk2 R32 DSG done in a garage in the evenings on the other hand, by a forklift driver from Kent, I'll have a good nosey round that one please. The comments that did grate with me a bit though were the people saying that VW owners are too inept to organise thier own meets. If only they knew. -
Update time please Charlie. :)

I just looked up the two on the Corrado register and remember one of the cars, owner was on here doing an audi 3.2 conversion user name - cralstc. emailed them both to see if they have still got them. :D

dukest = loon then. :bonk: I did sit and ponder the reality of such a task and, well, nope. Pipe dream. Maybe get one shipped in a container here yes, but driving one across desert terrain and miles of crappy roads, the visa and security issues, plus finding a decent left hooker from Europe to start with, the cost, piles of forms and legal issues. Plus lets face it, a 4000 odd mile journey in a Corrado    If it did get here I'd been doing a ground up resto! Oooh, will try and find them. Sorry for the thread hijiack!

Well, after Turkey there is Syria, which is fine, quite nice my boss tells me. Then you'd then have the option to take in Lebanon and Israel if you so wished but have to say, I'd steer clear and just go through Jordan - I've been there and its nice, but whilst there probably best to not stray to close to the Iraqi border. Then its just a happy "jaunt" through Saudi Arabia (just over 1000 miles) before you hit the UAE border, 6 hours or so and you'd be in Dubai. Easy! Jim, was that an offer to sell me your C with an offer to deliver it? Oh actually I'll need a/c! and Mr. Riot is right, its about time you bought a VR. :D
-
A weeks free accommodation, free food and booze during the week, flight home paid for and I'd say a £1000 would be appealing to any loon wishing to complete the drive! It only really gets "interesting" once you get to the end of Turkey... The rest would just be an epic road trip!! Oh, in seriousness, complete the G60 first, I've been lurking on your build thread and must say you've done some excellent work, it'll be great when its finished. I hope there is some good luck heading your way, you deserve it!
-
Doo it!! :D I'm really, really missing mine now. I've been searching the net for Corrado's in the UAE but there are just none! :( I really need a project, am thinking I might have to have a play and build a MkIV 4mo Turbo, but really, in truth my heart wouldn't be in it. I want a Corrado. Would any loons be willing to drive one to Dubai from Europe for me?? :)

I was considering getting my old C vinyled at one point - something different / for a laugh not as a replacement for a respray though. I gave up on the idea as I couldn't think of anything that hadn't laready been done i.e - camo / cow etc or wouldn't just look abit rubbish.

Firstly - Don't you just hate reading about cars in non-motoring publications or websites etc - like when FHM try to do a story on a car, the reviews are so bad, usually inaccurate and just pure drivel.... "its got more than 300bhp (how much more??) and handles really well" Really? Insightful. Anyway. From the pages of yahoo's coverage of the Detriot motorshow - the "Top 10 most Beautiful Cars" including a pig ugly Caddillac, we are presented with: :gag: Thankfully its apparently just a one off. http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/18012010/36/t9 ... oit-0.html

Hi James, Pleased to see you got it back (again) and are happier this time. 273 not bad..... I'd be well pleased with that, n/a and almost instantly on. I found the 24v lump in mine made town driving a pain, jerky etc - I think it may just be the nature of the beast, bet its a beaut on the open road. I did have a very cheeky qustion to ask you actually, I missed the boat on getting tickets for a certain event in June..... I was going to fly back for it too. Any spares? Will pay of course. Cheers.

WTF James! Just seen your ad for the engine... Get it painted and advertise the whole car for sale first... I might well be tempted :D

I think sometimes that I might actually love Annie Mac. Petite. Sexy voice. Loves music. Funny. Clever. Cute. :luvlove:
