just an update as you might have guessed i am no mechanic, drove to work this afternoon & the oil temp was all over 60 to 92 degrees, drove home tonight & there is no reading at all, the water temp is fine & again as soon as the engine was switched off the radiator fan kicked straight in. will i be doing any damage driving it, i'v never took it over about 2500rpm since i have noticed the low oil temp reading.
-
just come back from work tonight & noticed that my oil temp was very low in fact it was 62 degrees by the time i got home (about 15miles) when normally it runs anywhere between 90 & 102 depending on how i drive, also when i turned the engine off the fan came straight on....whats happened :( ....please break it to me gently

just to remind everyone that its friday 13th today.....good luck out there!! :norty:
-
oh i can't wait.... by the way, diversifying slighly i know but once i have all my old interior out is it just a skip job or is there any call for them, greyearlier style vr stuff all seats & 4 door cards all in decent nick?
-
felt like putting my head in the gap today after all those little fiddly screws and clips all over the place
-
yeah, you had me a bit confused there as i got most of the rear card off already with no probs apart from that 1 bolt, but then again it don't take much to confuse me :silly:
-
well if i forget i'm sure the kids will pop into the front to remind me.....probably at about 70mph
-

today i replaced my tired greyish/primerish vw rear roundel with a nice shiny mk3 golf highline one...very tasty  today i also fitted new style black vr front seats & door cards & took off my old grey ones, now you may ask 'why did'nt you do the rear at the same time'....well that WAS my plan but unfortunately after making a 320 mile round trip to pick up the asaidformentioned interior yesterday i unpacked it all from the wifes car this morning &...doh...realised i'd left all the rear section on the guys driveway  making the short trip again tomorrow to pick it up...again !!!
-
i am refitting from my grey old style vr interior to the black one, i have just about managed apart from the rear cards, i loosened all the screws & fixings etc then realised the seat belt ran through it, do i undo the big bolt at the bottom of the seatbelt attached to the body & if so does anyone know the size of the bolt....& if that is'nt how you take it off, then how the hell do you do it cos i have ran a few searches & found nowt really relevant to this  cheers andy

just got my vr back from my local vw specialist due to it running poorly, spluttering, missing, lack of power etc, anyway they have changed the spark plugs over to platinum plugs (£8 each) & showed me the old ones which were totally covered in oil & one was'nt working at all, he has advised me to get the leads changed over aswell, should i just go for the standard VAG set? And more worryingly, whats with all the oil?? am i in for a big bill imminently
-
thanks for all that lads, very helpfull, cheers

Yep i'm definately a fit & forget kind of guy, especially the forget part birthdays, anniversaries etc the mrs is always moaning about it! The weitec 40mm sports suspension shocks/springs does look good value & it seems to pretty popular choice with alot of the forum members, any idea on fitting prices?
-
thanks for that info, are there any particular shock/spring makes which make sound financial sense aswell as doing there job well? also would 40mm all round drop be a good balance between looks/performance & daily driving? for you guys with the height adjustable jobbies, are they any good? do you actually use them (adjust them i mean)? cheers
-
can some explain in very simple terms what the difference is between coilovers & damper & spring sets? thinking about lowering my c a bit, just need a bit of general advice, good height for a daily driver, value for money etc. cheers guys

What would your million pound car garage be?
toon vw replied to jedi-knight83's topic in General Car Chat
Not room in there for a nice little low milage c storm?? apart from that...pretty cool although i think i would change the DB9 for a DB7 for me like. -
Headlights from a late ' 82 ' would be the early kind i presume????
