  1. right first update for ages....firstly i changed over my interior over from the older style greyish seats & door cards to the newer black stuff which is far nicer imo & it looks brand new aswell  i've also put the newer chrome badges front & rear...*bling* security wise i've added a full thatcham cat 1 toad system on it, now i feel alot better leaving it every night on my driveway!! also added th g/b uprated headlight loom...& we have light   then started having a few problems...too say the least :( :( to cut a long story short i had a blown head gasket & chewed up piston rings...not good! every cloud has a silverlining though & today i have just picked up my car from jimmi who has fitted his 64k milage engine into my bay as well as massive list of other bits & bobs fitted at the same time ie; new clutch, new brakes, engine mounts etc etc & lets just say its come back like a new car....mega mega thanks to jimmi for his hard work :notworthy: all i can say is keep an eye on his members gallery aswell  just really enjoying playing with my vr again now after spending the last month driving the mrs's deisel scenic (thnks luv), i forgot how much fun it can be to drive again   planning on lowering the car slightly next & maybe some different wheels ....although i am partial to the originals, so this will have to be thought about for a while :silly:
  2. i'll vouch for this one...looks better in the flesh aswell, & full black leather interior...nice one steve

there are a set of D90's i'm interested in 7jx16 et55 & 8jx16 et52 , any idea on ideal adaptors for my vr which i have speedlines with et43 on at the minute, would the same size do all 4 or would i need 2 different sizes for front & rear, they also have 225x50 tyres on all 4 not with much tread on them, would 205's be more suitable if i changed them aswell?? any help would be mucho apprecio' thanks Andy
  6. good luck with them mate, its like a minefield out there with so many available, i'm sure you'll keep us updated with you're findings :)
  7. what did you end up ordering then, did you get a decent deal :?:
  8. looks just like the view from my front door....
  9. Thats spot on bojmobile, some of thes cars can be 17 years old so i think a bit of modernisation such as wipers,cd/mp3's, headlight looms & maybe a midgies off the 4x4 look are allowed, while essentially keeping the standard look which imo has stood the test of time better than anything else i can think of !!
  10. i have'nt done anything to my standard vr exept change the interior from that greyish colour to the newer black one, changed the red badges over to the chrome ones & put a mk3 highline rear vw roundel on the rear, so yep mine is pretty much as vw intended.....although the ride height might need to be reduced a tad soon (after i get my car back from having a new/used vr engine fitted after mine started eating itself :( )
  11. so if the storm carries a premium what happens if you change the looks a bit, larger wheels, tinted rear lights, lowered etc...then does it start to actually de-value the car as you lose the standard storm look?? I know most storm owners seem to keep it as vw intended....is that part of the reason?, just wondered really.
  12. there's always the likes of these; http://www.performancedriven.co.uk/shop ... 0&CatID=48 i know there not coilovers but they are a quality set up non the less...& a damn sight cheaper!!!

    Brock B2 wheels

they do look spot on mate...but then again you do have a head start with that colour!!!! I'm planning on getting mine dropped 40mm i think as i don't want to go daft with it being a daily, but probably not for a month or 2 & will keep my speedlines on in that time...but do you reckon archwork will be imminent with a 40mm drop? what cost for that? How's the rear reds coming on then...watching with interest :) Andy

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... &rd=1&rd=1 what do you make of these, i reckon top jobbies....trouble is how much work will be needed to fit them ie; rolled arches, spacers etc & how much d'ya reckon there worth? I have a standard vr with no droppage as yet!!! cheers Andy

    Newbie

yeah welcome raddovr6, looks like you've got a beauty there, top colour aswell....enjoy
  17. yeah thanks can't wait, its just that the kids & wife will have to go without chrissy presents this year  oh well we all must make sacrafices sometimes  just a shame i'm not going to be sorted for next weeks little get together, oh well i'm sure we can sort out another in the new year maybe?
  18. Thanks for the info boys, but just to update, i have found a good low milage vr engine with history belonging to a forum member who is willing to do a engine swap for my knackered jobbie including fitting it, making sure it is running perfectly all for a fair price. he wants to take mine & bore it out to 3.0 or 3.1 rather than mutilating a perfectly good engine....good for both of us i think, can't wait to have it up & running again now :-P :-P
  19. always loved this motor mate, loving the rimmage although i equally loved it on the the speedies, i reckon the height is also about spot on & don't get me started on the colour mmmmmm :-P
  20. i know what you're saying mate, but i know as much about ballroom dancing as i do mechanics (nowt) so i do have to trust the garage to a certain degree but it has come well recommended by mates who have used it as well as a number of good write ups from people on this forum. i do intend to keep the car anyway so i do want the best job that can be done which in this case is probably finding a low milage vr lump to get fitted plus a new vw clutch to go with it....but saying that i am obviously on a budget!!
  21. probably false economy i would have thought, would still need an outlay for an engine & fitting costs & then the same again when i got a vr lump, i think i've got 1 or 2 affordable options open to me at the moment anyway, wife might disagree like   (could'nt do without that v6 roar either!!)
  22. to be honest i have'nt got a clue what state they're in, i'm just bowing to the proffesionals advice which was it'll be cheaper to replace like for like as opposed to a rebuild.....like the fool that i am
  23. hope you bought that YTS lad a shandy then   seriously though how the hell can they justify that then, still not that you had to worry about the bill though eh
  24. yeah DiTch you may well be right but unfortunately thats not the case for me, heads off now & the piston rings are well chewed up :( time to dust off the wallet!!
