another smashed in corrado.......all fixed!!!!!!!
toon vw replied to randomist's topic in General Car Chat
Hey thats great news Garry by the sound of it, its funny though is'nt it how this smash has seemed to boost your enthusiasm for the old girl just when you were about to say goodbye to it, although i know you did'nt really want to get rid of it anyway. Regards autofix, i think i might try them in the future seeing as though it is literally about 5 miles away if that & obviously they would'nt just stand there scratching their heads when i roll in with a VR after having looked after you for so long. -
Michael your car just gets better & better everytime i venture onto your gallery, hats off to you matey :notworthy: That sounds like a plan when Garry gets his car sorted, kind of a mini meet again sometime. Your brakes look fab by the way !!! Andy
-
No big plans at the moment really, just want it looking as good as possible (like everyone else), just inquired about some 288 brakes so might be upgrading sometime in the future maybe. I have some money set aside for a suspension set up so will probably be getting something sooner rather than later, but i don't know what yet  Just been out trying to change my wheels over to put the speedlines on but the previous owner has put these metal covers over the locking wheel nuts & could i get them off :censored: ...erm no !!so it might be off to the garage to ask for some assistance :camp: I might even get them refurbed before they go on aswell cos they are'nt the best tbh. As regards the colour, i think in the summer when i can keep it clean it will look stunning but tbh i think i have been spoiled with the colour of my previous 2 c's, first was my aqua pearl vr then my blackberry valver which arguably are the 2 best colours around but i bought this one with the mileage being in the forefront of my mind & tbh the engine is very quiet indeed unless i play with the loud pedal that is :norty: Thanks for the comments guys.

Looks lovely that mate, is it sherry pearl? I agree about the wheels aswell i may well look into a set of those myself :luvlove:
-
Thanks mate i've just googled them & they are the very same, they do seem pretty popular like, i just checked ebay & saw there was none so just stuck them on parts for sale on here for £100, do you think i'm gonna do myself like?
-
If only.... :(
-
Thanks, i was'nt particularly looking for that colour, its not one of my favourites if i'm honest but when its clean & the sun hits it then it does look beautiful 8) & you're right there is'nt that many knocking around either. Hey mate how you doing or more importantly hows your car doing ? Yeah just got it yesterday & gave a good clean this morning when the sun briefly came out (it bloody needed it aswell  ) Its not mint i would'nt say but it ain't too bad either, a good base definately with the mileage on it. You got shot of that pile of jap doo doo yet then ? If it helps, I think Stealth quote around £476 for that kit, fitted. I'm assuming that doesnt include any extra bits you might need when they build up the shock - like if your bump stops or worn, or if your spring plates have had it, top mounts etc.. I built mine up completely using all brand new VW suspension stuff (every single bolt, bit of rubber, etc) which added another £170 odd to the cost of the suspension kit but that was offset by doing the work myself rather than getting it done at Stealth. Its nice to know I can pretty much forget about suspension on the car now. Cheers for the info Jim, wish i had the ability to do it myself but i would'nt have a clue so need to rely on other people i'm afraid
-
Thanks Jim i was actually thinking about that set up, i'm not really bothered about adjustable height , just want it sitting a nice ride height with a good quality ride & feel & of course the price is about right by the time i get someone to fit it aswell.
-
Thanks for the replies & positive comments guys, regards the lowering i know what you mean about the ride quality David which i reckon is pretty good as standard but its just the height i'm not a fan of, reckon about 40mm lower & it just about looks right but can still be used everyday without too much trouble. Goldie mate i think the KW's are out of my range for what i want to pay, i'm maybe looking around the £400 mark, but i know you get what you pay for in the end.

Well after quite a while & after viewing a few i eventually picked up my latest aquisition from welsh wales!! Not really much to tell you about it at the minute as its a very standard '94' VR6 other than the 17" alloys but i also have the speedlines which i think i'm gonna put back on anyway. Its done just under 64k miles by 2 owners, the guy i've just picked it up from has had it 8 years & used it mainly as a weekend car as he's only done about 20k in it, i have all the mot's & a full service book full of lovely stamps  As i say i picked it up from wales yeasterday which was a lovely drive other than when it rained or snowed & could only see about a 1/3 of the windscreen  so the obligitory aero wipers have already been ordered  Short term the speedlines are going back on i think & i will be lowering it somehow (open to suggestions on that), not sure about coilies or just springs/shocks as it will be my daily runabout so don't want anything hardcore. Anyway a few pics i think......
-
Yeah my guess is sherry pearl aswell but when i asked the guy who owns it & has for the last 8 years all he knew is that when he went for a touch up stick a while ago he was given 'hot chilli red' but i'm sure i've read somewhere else on here had a problem getting a sherry pearl touch up stick aswell. I'll find out tomorrow anyway as i'm going to sunny wales in the morning to pick it up
-
Well whatever it is its gotta be good news for buyers but not so good for sellers !! I reckon it'll settle down again soon......i bloody well hope so anyway :?
-
Has anyone heard of 'Hot Chilli Red', i'm going to be collecting my new vr on friday (touch wood) & i've just been chatting to the current owner & when asked about the colour he says that what it is ??? :confused4: To me it looks like Sherry pearl effect LC2U & its a '94' so it tallies with the year, just wondered if it was another name for that maybe ?
-
I think whichever one he WAS looking at must have fell through for whatever reason because he is arranging to see a blue low mileage one that is up in the classified section in Kent !!

I'm going to view a vr6 on sunday afternoon & just wondered if anyone had any advice on one or two issues. Basically its pretty good on paper, aqua pearl, '93' k reg, grey electric leather 'recaro' interior (that works), mahoosive brakes like 320mm or something almost new apparently, fsh & loads of reciepts etc etc......the only potential problem is that it is currently on 144k miles with no big engine work been done or chains etc, the guy has owned it for 5 years & has only done 100 miles in the last year so its been sitting under cover for most of the year & it has 11 months mot on it, he says that he has it checked at every service & there has been no significant chain noise, he is actually an ex forum member from a while ago aswell. Basically what i'm asking is what kind of work & costs could i be getting myself into (or not) & how much do you reckon would be worth paying for it? :help: Thanks
-
Well this valver was always gonna be temp thing anyway while i was looking for a vr again so thats why i bought it (oh yeah & because it was cheap..lol), thought i had sourced a good one, few telephone calls etc & it was all looking good hence the sale of the valver, but sods law i rang again tonight & it was sold yeasterday evening :? ...oh well saved me trip down to essex i suppose  So its back out looking for another vr although while searching the classiffides i have been side tracked by a spiffing Audi coupe 2.6e, i know they are no vr but they look fantastic imo & could be worth a go, can always sell again if it does'nt suit. By the way you're not in newquay are you?
-
Haha, he who dares....etc etc
-
Well spotted tha man, to be honest i think it was the wheels that attracted alot of people, i only put it up on sunday night & the phone has rang off the hook just about since then, right time to sell i suppose
-
Nice purchase, i was seriously interested in that one myself....oh well can cross that off the list then  I reckon its blackberry, just looks much lighter in the ' showroom ' lights, it is a 'M' reg is'nt it iirc?
-
Just a thanks to CorradoRun for the lightning speed to which the sony head unit i bought from him arrived, he kept me up to date with everything aswell, its now in my dash looking very retro...lol Thanks again mate Andy
-
Bought kr cams from just_say_meth & was very happy with his communication & speedyness of the delivery. Top bloke, thanks a lot. Andy
-
Yeah thats the one, he had it up just before christmas but i guess it was the wrong time of year then he put it back up a week or 2 ago so i thought what the hell & bought it  Yeah Jimmi had his hands on it last year, the slam panel had a slight dink in it so he sorted that, put a new headlight on & some paint on the front so it looks quite fresh really! I'm not sure about the wheels myself, i think they might be a bit ' blingy ' for me, they've got a hell of a dish on them tho' probably about 2 or 3 inches, i might look for something a bit more OE if you know what i mean, i also got an almost mint set of Estorils with the car aswell so might try them on for size first. I had my first 'spirited' drive in it tonight & to be honest i was very impressed indeed, i previously had a vr6 before this one so was'nt expecting too much but once the revs get up its a little flier, just need to keep it in the power band & some fun can be had, feels pretty good for its standard 136bhp or whatever it is 8)
-
Well it went in today for its MOT & i must admit i was a bit nervous after buying it with no MOT or Tax, but it did well & passed with no problem, even the mechanic commented that it was a 'goodun' which is always good to hear from someone who knows there way around the greasey bits, so it looks like the slight risk i took has paid off

Satin Silver VR6-Ex OSV-Steering/Suspension overhaul 16/04
toon vw replied to MK1Campaign's topic in Members Gallery
Love this car, kinda looks a bit more modern in silver i think. -
What did they cost mate i need some new wipers got a part number or anything? :)[/quote:3hu4nc32] I got them off ebay, a guy called 'Lesray' , he sells loads of VW related stuff, these cost £72.99 + 6.99 postage. I've had them before from the same guy on my VR6 & they were great, genuine stuff. Sorry i can't do links or owt but if you go on ebay & stick 'vw corrado wipers' in then they'll pop up & i can highly recommend them
