Yeah me too, its always great when you get no advisories either cos it means you can spend your hard earned on the ' nice stuff '
-
I like the way you think Stan

Do you mean this one? It doesn't sound too bad, and with the problems listed you could possibly beat the price down to £3k. The lack of interior pictures makes me wonder about the state of the inside though - especially as it states there are some trim bits missing. If you don't do too many miles, then I'd probably go with a corrado (vr6 or not) over a golf - or else you might end up in the same position again and not really enjoy the car after a couple of months - back to square one. Thats the one mate, cheers for that. Yeah i would like to see the interior aswell but allowing to spend a little bit on the problems mentioned its probably not a bad price in my view, if i went for a corrado it wound definately be a vr6 though!!

Well.........its gone already, it just never really lived up to my hopes so thought i would cut my losses sooner rather than later, infact i made a slight profit on it   So its back to the drawing board & its currently running between my head which is saying golf 150 gt tdi & my heart which is shouting out for another creamy VR6 &the latter is starting to win over i think 8) There are some cracking ones up in the classifieds at the minute, also seen one thats just been put up on clubgti.com in silver, if i had the skills i would put a link up for any thoughts on it.....but i ain'y got the skills :( Any thoughts on which direction to go ? Updated: Car trailer required - Cambridge area
toon vw replied to mrbeige's topic in Suppliers Forum
Well, I found a couple of companies that will hire a trailer, ranging from £45-60 for the hire and £100-250 for the deposit. I'm using neither, as the bloke who is helping me with the towing has managed to find a local farmer who has hired the trailer for £30 and no deposit! How lucky is that!! :D The sun shines on the righteous my friend  -

Someone told me to put it in the oven for a bit to soften the silicone then just run a sharp knife it & hey presto !! Think you might have to do it when your lass is out tho' Andy

Hey mate i'm diggin your beigeness.....I actually had a '02' plate 3 door 1.8T in that very same colour before the corrado & i thought it was great, mind not many others did like :? Defo go for the LM's & it will transform it, i like it btw :thumbleft: Andy
-
Yeah that sounds like a plan, the wood does'nt exactly turm me on like, i feel like lighting up a pipe sometimes when i get in !! Will have to look at some of the options to replace it with but i agree the R32 stuff is a bit on the pricey side :(
-
Hey Steve how you doin ? No complaints about the seats in my corrado, definately worth the 2 trips ha ha!! I can see the appeal of your recaro's mate eapecially in this weather   Good to see you're still live & kicking on the forum anyway & no doubt still enjoying your beasty If you're ever thinking of getting something a little newer i would definatley recommend the 4motion for the performance, handling & just being a bit more modern in the way of having a few more creature comforts & a few less squeaks & rattles :D but it still does'nt compare in terms of sheer character tho'........i will be back, i'm sure. Andy

Hi mate, yeah i've seen you on the mkiv forum aswell, a definate step forward with the santas on, the standard alloys are far too small imo. Still getting used to it at the minute, but loving it already, the amount of grip you get from a standing start is unbelievable especially in the wet  I've read Jay's thread about his 4mo already, very interesting reading & if i only had a quarter of his knoledge/ability i would be getting stuck in right now but as it stands i'll wait till the spring time then maybe a modest brake upgrade of some sort might be on the cards then have a look at the handling perhaps. I am missing driving my VR6 very much at the mo especially when i see it sitting on my driveway everyday, never mind at least i have the luxury of these heated recaro's to warm my bum every morning as way of compensation   Andy

Very very nice, are they 18's? much of a drop? I gotta get a rear spoiler fitted me thinks !!
-
Yeah it does feel a bit flat at high revs in comparison the VR but then again what would'nt!! Apparently a good remap would sort that out a bit & it does'nt cost the earh either :D Really enjoying it at the mo although its not without its problems either, the rear wiper does'nt work (very common problem apparently) & the rear discs are down to the limit but then again that opens options aswell  Greeny, Keep a hold of your motor mate, its a complete beauty man !! I am definately regretting getting rid of my VR already (& its still sitting on the drive) but i think overall i am making the right decision for a car that i use every day but never the less would love to be able to keep my VR aswell :(
-
Well just managed to get out & put a sponge over the new 4mo in between storm clouds!! Whad'ya reckon ?
-
HA HA my first car was a fiat 126 with a 650cc ' lump ' which went a damn sight better than the toon at the minute :(
-
Yeah michael its staying local......to you anyway, its going down on the south coast mate  , all i'll say is it 'll be staying on the forum so thats great for me to see its progress! I'll get some pics up as soon as the weather lifts a bit. Well chuffed with it so far tho' :D Andy

Well after having my vr6 up for sale for a while, a deposit was taken a while back & it will be picked up in a week or 2 :( After a bit of searching & debating on what would replace it (wanted something of ' similar ' performance but a bit newer)i opted for a golf 4mo. Got quite a good deal i think aswell, x reg 2000, 61k miles, fvwsh, full recaro heated leather :D :D etc Thoughts on it so far are pretty positive tbh, i find it very torquey from very low down even in 6th, don't know if its quite as rapid as my vr but then again i don't know if it just does'nt ' feel ' as quick if you know what i mean. Only down side i can see at the minute is the dreadful fuel economy, around 25 or 26 mixed driving which is about 5 or 6 mpg less than my rado, but i did know that before i bought it so can't complain too much :? I can honestly say even now before my vr has even left my driveway that i am missing it & will at some point in the future be the owner of another one, probably as a second car tho' next time!! I will still be on here quite a bit as there is a hell of a lot of general vw knoledge knocking around....not to mention its a bloody good laugh reading some of these posts aswell. Andy

Yeah the round one is from the late models, as in..............

Picked up my Corrado tonight.................
toon vw replied to NomoreGT4's topic in General Car Chat
Welcome to the forum & corrado ownership, on the subject of candles....erm i mean headlights & i can highly recommend Phillips Xtreme H4 bulbs, i have just replaced my osram silverstars which were supposed to be an improvement on standard bulbs anyway with the Philips bulbs & they are really fantastic & these are without the loom, so for about £25 they are definately worth a go :sunny: Andy -
Nice one Nick, looks like you've picked up a little beaut.....best colour too  Enjoy. Andy
-
Ha Ha i was always taught to steer into the skid too......10 out of 10 for that one tho'
-
Is there a way of removing the front fog lense of the late model to replace it? Is it a sealed unit? Cheers Andy I have tried a search but to no avail :(
-
YAY......happy days, i now have 2 fully functioning mirror switches :thumbleft: I did a quick search as suggested, got a bit of green pad & just gave the contacts a little rub down to get rid of the oxidising, put them back together & bingo  A very easy fix that took about 20mins in total for 2 of them including testing them out. Thanks Andy

Thanks for those thoughts, i'll check both those suggestions in the morning. Ta Andy
