http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/17/new- ... -and-info/ What do you reckon??

not tried a magnetic pen, doubt it would pull them out tho, they're in too tight. the bent wire trick almost worked, but kept un-bending?? before it even moved the buggers. thought about maybe trying to screw a self tapper thru the end cap and removing the end cap with pliers. i'll try anything to avoid gettin the inlet manifold off...

OK a quick (maybe) update, finally got round to swapping the injectors Saturday mornin, all went ok and as planned until coming to fit the end caps to my new injectors. The old injectors were not a matching set (3 of one type and 1 of a different type; they were all Bosch jobbies however) i.e. 3 of the injectors had a flat end (the end which the fuel sprays from) and one had a concave end (the new set are concave ended), so only 1 out of the 4 end caps fitted (the other 3 had a gap between the endcap and the injector). So i'm looking at this thinking it can't be right but i'll never know if i dont try them in the engine. So try it i did. The engine took some cranking to get going but after about 20 secs fired into life. Took her for a quick run round the block, and the car had about as much power as a pushbike and was kangarooing like mad. Gutted. Went to Midland VW, who told me the end caps should come with the new injectors and if mine didnt then they are designed to be used without them, and said i should try them with the endcaps removed. So i heads home to remove the endcaps and, you've guessed it, the injectors have come away leaving the endcaps in the inlet manifold. So i now need to remove the lower section of the inlet manifold to get the buggers out. Unless anyone here has a suggestion to get the swines out. Tried some long nose pliers, tried fishing them out with a bit of bent wire but they're stuck fast. Happy days...

So, apart from losing power, using the 95 won't harm the engine in any way? Cheers...

Hi all, read somewhere that the 16v should be run on 97 ron (super-plus) unleaded. Is this so?? I've been using regular since owning my valver (3 months) and starting to wonder if the fuel may be a contributing factor in the recent probs i've had (probs with hot starting) I'm about to (this weekend hopefully) swap for a shiny new set of injectors and don't want to knacker them using the wrong fuel. Is there anything that can be done to "convert" it to run on 95 ron?? Cheers guys...

Thanks again, mind is now at rest... Cheers...

Def more pics required. Intrigued now...

Cheers Henny, appreciate that, i think i'll rest easy now, looked at the shut lines and the fit of the front bumper closely last night and they all look sound. Guess one of the previous owners just prefered the new style bonnet. Didnt realise there was a differece til i saw a post in the for sale forum refering to the style of bonnet. Lovin the forum, useful for all sorts and always good for a giggle...

Whatever it turns out as, i agree with whoever said they thought the raised tailgate looked like a Landy defender! Seriously though that looks like a mad project. And here's me sweatin over a simple swap of injectors!!! Keep the pics comin....

Very nice indeed, how much approx for a set of 4? Really like the look of them, do wanna go the OEM route tho (as per your red C, very nice too) How much did the suspension job cost, and how much was it lowered front/rear?
-
ben16v love those rims, what make/model/size are they? Have you lowered it? If so how much? Cheers...
-
The reason i suspected front end damage, i looked for the VIN plate under the bonnet yesterday and couldnt find it on the slam panel of the bonnet (or is that known as the front panel?) Is the VIN a stamped metal plate on the C? And where is it located? (and is this a stupid question?) Cheers guys...

My 1990 valver has (i think) a new style bonnet. Is this correct for its age or would it indicate previous front end damage? (where they couldnt find an old style one to replace? Is the new style "bulging" in the middle anf the old style kind of indented? (if you follow me) Any ideas???

Bloody Hell!! What more can i say?  -
Hi all, just had a look at the plastic dipstick holder. Thats intact and fine, looking at the cables going to the 2 oil filter housing sensors, both spade connectors are corroded and both leads have cracks in the insulation/corrosion so i'll fix these up at the weekend. Thanks again for your help.
-
Thanks for the quick response, i'll check both, hope its not the pump thats knackered, sounds costly...? (already pending a PAS pump swapout when funds allow, but i reckon if this persists and turns out to be the oil pump, than that'll have to take proirity) Thanks again... I'll keep the forum posted....

Didnt know whether to put this in Engine Bay or Interior as it seems to be oil/sensor related (maybe!) Anyhoo, was driving at a steady 50mph on way to work on monday, (flat road/no hills) and the oil light started flashing at me accompanied by a beeping coming from the clocks. I'd checked the dipstick the previous morning (sunday, first time in a month  ) and the level is fine, nice clean oil too. Since then this flashing/beeping has started. It only lasts prob 10 secs max then ceases. Doesn't happen on sharp bends/islands so i'm pretty sure the levels ok. (the dipstick cant lie can it? or can it?) Could it be some kind of sensor i've disturbed with the dipper?? Please help as i'm totally paranoid of my little valver (i'm sure she's got it in for me) :(

Toad, just phoned the other B'ham branch, they've got them at 60p each. 16vradge, thanks m8, got em on the case now. Cheers both...
-
Supercahrged: Thanks for that, i'll give em a bell again and quote that cat no. Thanks. Toad, my local GSF refused to sell them seperately?? Said the O rings come as part of the injectors and cannot be bought as a seperate item... The guy sounded like an arse tho so maybe he was having an off day, might try them again today, see if i get a different response. Cheers..
-
Bugger! My local GSF don't sell the seals seperately, you have to buy the complete injector. My 2 local VW stealers cant source the part either. Will the existing seals do the job or is it essential to get the new ones??
-
Not sure, looking at the photo's i would say not. I'll take a trip to GSF i reckon... Cheers, i hadn't considered this...

Toad, quality story, same where i live (only corsa's) Sounds like it couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch!!
