a white tatty g-plate rado with orange wheels and lex-arse style rear lights passed me on the M42 around junction 3 earlier with a massive gumball 3000 sticker filling the rear window, whats the story with this one?? anyone from here??
-
anyone know wheres best to get a replacement from? i havnt tried the main stealers as i dont want to confuse the person behind the dest asking for a "ecu pipe thingy for my g60" or better yet does anyone have a part number? 8) cheers, karl.
-
i always thought that it was, 1.8 16v early, 2.0l 16v and 8v and vr late then most g60's were early exept some later g60's which had later bonnet, wings, headlights, grille but had early bumpers and interior im sure someone more in the know will comfirm/correct this

well not really as since ive had it,(bout a year) its had a slight bottom end knock, car was off the road for 4 months early this year as the shells needed changing, (was in no rush to get it done as i had another car to run around in) while it was knocking i never put it above 3k revs, had the shells done around may, and have spent best part of june driving it steady to run it in, only recently really been able to put my foot down so its only now im really noticing the lack grunt. is the crank bolt the one thats problematic??, the one that needs replacing for the dx code bolt?? karl.

ok, will get the cam timing checked first, was going to be looked at on saturday but my car is stuck at a local garage til monday night being MOT'd . i have taken onboard what you guys advised, but as its not something i could do myself i just wanted something to keep me busy, so not this weekend, but next weekend i will get all the timing checked at the garage ps if the cambelt is a tooth out we all get to take the pi55 out of Darren a little bit as he changed it for me last september when the charger was done  will keep you all posted how i get on. cheers, karl.

im guessing by AFR you mean the graph they give you??, no i dont have one of these. a mate has just bought a golf country chrome edition? from germany with a g60 under the bonnet and he will have it over here on saturday so im going to try swapping bits over from that to mine to see if i can cure it that way. if its not something i can simply "swap over" then i will put it on that rolling road again for a graph and book it in with you for the day to fix it i have 4 branch manifold and exhaust system to go on this car but i want to get it running rightbefore i start modding it. karl.

right guys, bit of an update, checket the guide on matey-matey on how to check the boost and these are the results settles at 500 on idle (guide states between 550-750 on idle) in 3rd and 4th to redline i get 1800, 11.6psi, (guide states 2000 for a good charger with 68mm pulley, mine was rebuilt 3k ago at g-werks so can assume the charger is spot on). although mine hits 1800 at around 5k revs and stays at 1800 to the redline, :? but does seem to pull better after 4k revs 8) does this seem low toy you guys?, im only going on the guide on matey-matey.com

yes, there was a huuuuuuge fan infront of the car, after the initial panic of "balls to it, it must be fooked" ive calmed down a bit now. as suggested im going to check the boost and set the co pot (will have a look through the how-to's for this) will let you know how i get on. cheers, karl.

right, bit of a prob with the raddo g60 and was wondering if this sounds familiar to any of you guys the car is standard exept for smaller pulley on a rebuilt charger, a suspected sns chip and k&n panel filter, and its running a bit strange, first the car seems a bit flat till it gets to just over 4k revs then it pulls better, not as well as expected though, i know of a lad who has just had a rolling road setup installed in his unit and put the rado on for a go, put out 145bhp at 5.7k revs. so theres definately something wrong as its underpowered , he commented on the way it seemed to rev like it had no limiter??? does any of this point at an obvioues fault?? i think that i should send the ecu away to have a new sns chip fitted (just a guess as im no mechanic) but wanted to get an opinion from you guys first. cheers in advance, karl.

first car at 19 was an mg metro, awful bit of kit, got rid after 5 months and bought a mk1 golf gti. get in!!!!!

the one i have as a spare is 6.5j wide, i picked up a 15" 7j one of these at inters today (for £30) thinking that it would be the same as my spare (just a little wider obviously) but no, the ronal r15 has flat spokes where with my spare the spokes curve slighly in towards the middle of the wheel (just so it looks like theres a bigger dish i guess) so i dont think the one i have is a r15 unless there was a design change between 6.5j and 7j saw a mk1 with a set of the 6.5j ronals and asked him if he fancied flogging me the wheels, and bonus hes getting new wheels soon so they are mine for £100, they will need some work as they have been painted and im looking at a 200 mile round trip to fetch them but cant be bad for that price
-
well after doing a bit of googling it looks like im going to have a right nightmare finding another 3 to give me a matching set. dont suppose you know if these came as an optional extra from vw do you? in 15" or maybee i should pass it on to someone with a set of 4 so they get a matching spare? i saw it in the boot and thought , "never seen those before", didnt realise they were this awkward to get though
-
cheers for that, looks like im going to have to keep scouring the bay for them then
-
i bought my rado with 15" tsw wheels on it that look a bit poor, this was in the boot as a spare when i bought the car and i quite like it so i need to find another 3 so what are they called?? sorry for the poor pics, camera is older than the rado

my drivers handle packed up so i picked up a brand new one off ebay, this new handle had no wiring on it for the central locking. so i have picked up a remote central locking kit, i have fitted this and it works fine but there are wires with this kit to connect to the indicators/hazzards so that when lock/unlock the car off the button the hazards flash. this is just a visual indication that the car is locking/unlocking but i have no clue what colour cable im looking for by the fuse box. so does anyone know what colour cable goes to the hazard light relay so i can at least get something 100% done on this car cheers all, karl.

does it come apart easy enough? might have to get mine out of the box ,cover the seats in dog hair, dent the front wing and paint it pearl grey -
F457VRG would work on a vr instead of the one up top
-
yes mate, bought by accident by me  will look at the pics in the ad properly next time
-
cheers for the reply's , ive bought a remote central locking kit off the bay to make it work off a button instead. must be one of those for a rado with no central locking.
-
had my charger rebuilt at 96k (when i bought the car) by darren at g-werks, he said it had never been previously rebuilt. so they can (on occasion) do a bit more than 60k 8) 2.5k for your car sounds about right though mate

love the old escorts, my dad used to have a gold colour mk1 1300E when i was a kid, from what i remember it was pretty tidy. he swapped it for a ..... wait for it........ brown austin princess just cos he wanted something "a bit newer" i keep reminding him how much the old escorts are worth nowadays, hes not too happy
-
just got hold of a new handle off the bay but it has no lead on it for the central locking, is there any way of taking it off the old handle or am i going to have to get me one of those universal remote central locking kits and fitting that? still, at least i can get in drivers side now
-
ok im up for that, look me up cos i dont know how to set up stuff like this as im relatively new to the 360, have pm'd you my user name
-
dont pull your rado off the road to break it, sell the drivers handle and then decide to put it back on the road. yours truly guilty of that one
-
so your down £120? then let him know that its going to cost him the £120 in "storage fees", and he can give it to you when he collects them.
