Out of interest Simon, you mention that it would be better to go for a 10w over a 5w for a track based G60 but surely by the theory, it's better to run a 5w 50 on a track based G? In a sense, running an oil that is less resistant at start up but has the ability to not thin out to much at higher temps. Why the need to go up to a 10w? Just curious. Great reading though, thanks!

Ummm I'll be the first to open myself to ridicule then. A brown 1.0l OHV Vauxhall nova with gold 15" team dynamics monza's What. was. I. thinking?

well the slightly iffy thermostat housing that ive been stockpiling bits for (thought i might as well samco everything at the same time) finally gave up so the car did a big wee in the aldi car park in cheltenham! So i call my breakdown monkeys. They ask if there are any special things they should know, i say yes and that the car is low and will only go on a low-loader. Fine the monkey says., So we fast forward an hour while the recovery idiot finishes his dinner and what does he turn up with... A frigging tow rig thats only suitable for 4x4s. So i send him away and ive got to wait another hour for his 'mate' to finish his tea to come and take me home! Arrrgh! Anyway rant over, ill just sit here like some gimp till i get bum raped by the local scum!

Has anyone put a Mocal cooler on a 16v C? Just interested if the consensus is that it's a worthwhile mod. If I did get one it was thermostatically controlled. Thanks

Could be that he's been offered that much or less on a px deal and wants it to go to a good home. If that's the case then your in! Wish it'd been around when I was looking.

That's interesting.. I was looking at a rad on fleabay.. one of the Aluminium cored jobbies See the link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-ALUMINIUM-RAD ... dZViewItem As an idea it's less likely to degrade I would have thought. What's people thoughts on this?

WOW another Karmann leather interior!!! Super rare!! looks aok to me though.

Or you could get a g60 for that money... Between the two though, I'd go for a 2.0l and chuck a 1.8 cam in it. I did neither and bought a 1.8

someone's jizzed on your car dude  Looks nice though, love the last piccy (might have to nick that idea)

I'm going to be using N02 when I can afford to buy a WON kit. I wish people would refer to nitrous as N02 or nitrous. NOS is a brand and not a thing. (silly rant over) I'll be using a direct port system run into the inlet manifold of my carbs. I'll only be going to 50bhp jets and a progressive controller. Cheap power I say.

Another one bites the dust... - Sod the cost, i need a rado.

Glad to hear that you got it sorted in the end. That red Vr looks fantastic. I'm sure it'll be great to be back in one again after the turbulence. I'm a bit worried now, I'm with Admiral aswell.. hmm think I might have to change as soon as my renewell comes around. -
I love these sort of projects.. I just never seem to find them. I quite fancy hunting down a slightly mistreated mk2 golf and seeing what I can get it like. keep the updates coming.

I just broke the tabs off and glued them in the right places with some uber strong glue. Worked absolutely fine until the gypo garage I used briefly broke the top ones off and lost them. The bottom's perfect though. I ended up buying a JOM one anyhow so the FK one is up for grabs if anyone wants it (saves breaking another!) £10 delivered. It can be done though if you are going to rip the tabs off, just make sure you use araldite or something.

Nice buy.. TOW BAR!!! ARGH get it off noW!! And umm yup they aren't mega quick but to be fair anything is going to feel slow after a 365bhp golf. :) I'm sure it'll grow on you. P

New engine, high compression, low weight, cage and a second set of wheels with ao48's on. For now, providing it's running I'm happy.

Check ol fleabay for 'breaking' and 'evo' and send the guy breaking the car an email. I always get good results that way.

Forgot to renew the MoT for 6 weeks...

lol... I always think people are a bit too panicy. I'm sure if you got pulled over randomly (how often does that happen????) and they checked, you'd get away with a producer providing you got it done within a week. -
Not all.. Mine are because they are from an Evo RS and the cloth almost perfectly matches the door cards. You just need to wait a little longer for leather ones. The 'rocco subframes are slightly higher but you need Recaro rocco frames with adjustable height.
-
btw did you notice the drift tyte yo bus knob on the steering wheel? :OMG:
-
OH DEAR GOD... Is nothing sacred?
-
Like it! but i'm guessing you have sacrificed the back seats as being a 4 door i'd imagine they dont recline? Just so i know when the subframes do come up how much do they normally go for? They recline aswell as they were adapted from the speed range which are universal. So you wouldn't necessarily lose your back seats. I got my frames from doing a swap with a set of old sebrings so I've no idea how much. Best to put a wanted in e38, club gti, rocco forum etc etc and see what you get back. That or keep an eye out for battered old rocco recaro's on ebay.
