  3. that little 's' bend pipe is good for perishing.the one off the front crack pipe.'o' rings inside the crackpipe/thermo housing are good for splitting.and jubillee clips dont seal alway round under pressure on a modded vr-trust me i know.spring loaded does the job.
  4. bonnet to top of wing[battery side] is the other earth strap buddy!
  5. i would double check the connections to and from the coilpack/plugs.if the leads are not pushed on correctly they will throw these symptoms up.worth a try b4 you throw any more money at it?
  6. RS VR6-the 248s are the best match for the vr with the sc,vsr mani in my opinion.
  7. my power/torque graph is similar to Radostormvr6,but where his torquue/power tails off-mine climbs a little more.think its the efficiency of the bvh on full throttle.gunner have to get a smaller pulley than the 8.5psi :(.just a bit sceptical of those mafless maps. i would post the graphs but dont know how to.its done a 317bhp/279torque and also a 303bhp/279 torque in recent years :D .

  9. if you had lsd + racelogic launch/tc you would beat it easily in the dry-but in the wet it would be pretty even.the above set up puts ALL 303bhp john!you can hold 2/3/4k revs press the launch -and your off with virtually no slip. :D .
  10. my obd1 sc golf is exactly the same as your pic.mine burst an O ring in crack pipe that goes into the back of the themo housing.surely when FI the cooling system is under more pressure when driven hard?so likely to burst a seal/pipe or 2?
  11. soldered joints on some relays crack/fail-109 voltage stabiliser and 167 fuel pump are a common fault on vrs.

  13. could the mechanic who refitted the plug leads incorrectly have damaged the round housing that the lead fits into on to the coilpack[hairline crack=arcing when warmed up].

  15. i dont think i prodded the tiger,but the shutters went up and everybody went on the defensive :) . i would have bought one 18mnths back,but my mate wanted 6k for his 95n,102k fvwsh that was standard-maybe a bargin then? :cry: waited a while and got a 2.9sc golf with all the toys,thats had 8k worth of mods,mostly done at stealth.to boot the car only cost c storm money :D . if i could have bought a c storm with the same mods,i'd buy one 2moz :) .i guess demand for a pristine example pushes up he price :mad: .
  16. the c is a cool/capable machine.but its basically a mk3 golf floor pan with coupe body.i just carnt get my head around the void in prices for the 2 different vrs?you could buy a mint mk3 vr for 3k,and chuck the 3k you saved by not buying a storm and use it for:turbo/sc/248s/shricj... its got to be the cult/demand/exclusivity thing?
  17. its mina/anoraks old car.8.5psi pulley.it was fitted with the greens/walbro so it would always fuel properly.been thinking of getting the 12psi mafless setup but heard of conflicting reports.need a new aquamist pump-but expensive.trying to source a shurflo pump that does the same thing,but cannot seem to find an off the shelf uk supplier-any ideas chaps?

  19. 8) 8) got green injectors on my golf vr6 sc[think stealth sourced/fitted them].it made 303bhp/278 torque at stealth dec 04.but it does have 248s-vgi-2.9-stealth BVH-V2.dont you just love vinces toy cupboard! 8) .
  20. try cleaning the intake system out with carb cleaner:isv,throttle body.
