grey VR6 just coming out of Winterbourne Stoke, nr Stonehenge on Sunday. Think reg began L910. I was in a hired van and realised a bit late that my big grin and thumbs up were probably a bit pointless!

thanks Bill and well done on 12 in a row 8) ooh yes please Jim! I won't be swapping the interiors for a while yet and I'm sure I'll break/lose a few, so maybe I could buy some from you at one of the shows this summer? Would certainly save me some hassle with part numbers at the stealers! thanks very much Rob :D Plenty of work to be done yet, but I reckon that's half the fun! I'm looking fwd to crossing some more off the to-do list this summer :sunny:

a great achievement! Nicely done Bill :)

A couple more things sorted recently... After falling out with my local garage, the MOT was sorted out without too much hassle so I have that magic green ticket for another few months :) I’ve also been back to DG and CV boots and an ABS sensor have been replaced. He hadn’t been running well either, hesitating quite badly but that has been sorted too – he’s now sporting a different rubber carbon-canister hose (the old one was held together with lots of tape and a cable tie), some new Bosch plugs and new Dubpower leads. Very pleased to say that Dave said that the old plugs, although past it, were in good condition – a ‘nice biscuity colour’ apparently with no oil on them so I'm happy with that. Whilst I was there, Dave also very kindly let me drive his VRT 8) What a truly outstanding car that is! I already knew what a beautiful car it is and from the Nurburgring trip, how fast it is but what a fantastic car to drive! I was driving it back from the MOT centre on my own and was too scared of doing any damage to put my foot down (which Dave seemed surprised about lol) but the acceleration and noise were awesome just under normal acceleration. Thanks again Dave, big grin! :notworthy:  I also gave my C the first decent clean since last year in time for the AGM and took a couple of photos whilst I was there... climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfresized AGM Gaydon 04-04-10 1.JPG[/attachment:1nb2p8n5] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfresized AGM Gaydon 04-04-10 2.JPG[/attachment:1nb2p8n5] resized AGM Gaydon 04-04-10 3.JPG[/attachment:1nb2p8n5] This summer I would like to clean up the engine bay area a bit and also buy some decent wax to try to get the paintwork looking a bit shinier. I have also made a few purchases including most of an interior. It’s the same standard black cloth as I currently have but in much, much better condition. I’m considering taking the whole interior apart over the next few months (except maybe the dash cos I know what a PITA that is!), tidying and cleaning everything up and hopefully sorting a few squeaks and rattles before putting the new (cleaned!) interior in 8) Now off to buy 2 small, round pieces of paper, one for each car. Great birthday present to myself

All being well, I'll be there. See you then :D -
Does anyone know of a decent body shop around Basingstoke?
scarlet_vr6 replied to Dredgey's topic in Suppliers Forum
hiya. Can't vouch for either myself but I've heard good things about The Phirm's bodyshop (Phirm FX maybe??) and also I've recently heard that a couple of guys who used to work for Martin's VW bodyshop have opened up on their own in Andover somewhere. I could get the details for them if you like? -
superb :notworthy:

Could a clicking gearbox be a reason of MOT failure ??
scarlet_vr6 replied to emu's topic in General Car Chat
Is it just a one off click that happens just after you have driven off, usaly after being stationary for a hour or so? nope, all the time in 1st gear... -

scarlet_vr6 replied to emu's topic in General Car Chat
not sure if it is the same thing but the gearbox on mine clicks in 1st too, really horrible sound and makes me wince every time. I took it to a transmission specialist a while ago who said it's worse than it sounds and will last a while yet. IIRC, he said it was likely the layshaft bearing on it's way out. My car made it through the MOT last month with this noise - in fact it wasn't even mentioned as an advisory... :confused4: HTH -
Jim's Corrado - ciao to the Fiat! Hello to.. (P64)

Anytime! Although you can have the keys and drive it yourself! -
Loads to report in the last few days 8) got a bit of a girly chuftie at the petrol stn - saw a lady looking at the car and then in the queue to pay she started asking about the colour, saying how beautiful it is and that she is looking to buy a new car and none of them have such a nice colour available! Then I got a big thumbs up and a very long flash of the lights from a lorry driver on the A34. I assume it was in appreciation of the C rather than being over-zealous in thanking me for letting him out to overtake  2 yesterday from different estate agents - 1st guy surprised me by calling it a Corrado not a Scirocco, then got the usual ‘nice car, quick aren't they' comments but it was the guy at the second house who made me laugh cos he kept referring to it as my 'race car' Finally, a guy at work today asked if it was my new car and if I had got rid of the Jetta. I explained that I've had the C for nearly 5 yrs and that the Jetta is the daily and then we had a really long chat about how good Cs are and (again) what a lovely colour mine is :D Has helped make up for a rubbish couple of weeks :)

car looks great Jim, and so shiny :D Glad you're enjoying the VR so much! -
spotted a blue(?) C in the centre of Birmingham near the Town Hall on Sat night. Can't remember what time it was - maybe around 8.30pm? Only saw the car v quickly as you disappeared round the corner :)
-
green (poss blue - difficult to see in the sun) heading south on A34 at Oxford turn off about 2.20 this afternoon. Just saw you at the last moment as I was heading the other way in the Jetta

yeah come along and drag your brother down too! Would be good to see that Mk2, it looks lovely and rados are always welcome :D As well as the thread for the meet, there is also a blog and a flickr group for all the piccies 8)

I'll add that one to the tally then  It's fine... It's repairable and it could have been a whole lot worse... As Jon said tho, it's easily done... It's not like you did it on purpose....................... Or did you?!?! i mean with all the nice new shiny bits on the car...... jealousy is a cruel misstress! :ignore:[/quote:9kw669cg] just wanted to get a public apology in as well... yep, it was jealousy... jealous that all the suspension stuff is 4 months newer than mine

I think mine has come off more lightly than Kris'. The bumper is a bit scuffed (not the end of the world since the paint was peeling anyway) but it is pushed up at the sides so is prob for the bin and the grill is cracked although you can't see that when it is on the car. I'm not sure if there is any more damage - I will find out when I take the car to DG next week. The rear bumper on Kris' is concave and scuffed and there is a dent below the rear VW badge. I'm sure everyone is wondering so I'll say what happened. We reached a roundabout with staggered lanes. We were in the left hand lane and I mistakenly thought it was a filter lane. I checked to see what was on the roundabout but hadn't realised Kris had stopped. Luckily I had practically stopped anyway so I was travelling slowly but enough to cause the above damage. Still can't quite believe I have done this as I am always especially careful when convoying as I know how much everyone cares about their cars but I guess I wasn't careful enough on this occasion. Sorry Kris.

It was me. Another case of rubbish female driving I'm sad to say :(

not sure about the private plate and haven't seen the silver one either. I can't be very good at spotting! The only ones I ever see are the green one I mentioned and a blue one with clear rears which must be yours...! I think my jetta is great but the 2 door versions are soooo cool 8) Meeting is always the last Thursday of the month so next one is 29th April. Nick has just posted a thread about the next one. It's a good meet, usually 3 or 4 Corrados and a fair few Golfs etc :)

yeah I've thought that too - these companies must think we have nothing better to do in our lunch hours!

storm force 1 , on the road to exellence!
scarlet_vr6 replied to volksworld13's topic in Members Gallery
good work! Great to see another C getting the attention it deserves and looks like a lovely car too 8) Good luck with the rest of the work you have planned. I'll keep an eye on this thread for inspiration I think! -
someone has recommended Performance Direct on another thread... could try them too?

only the second time I've spotted someone on here! Car looked good :D I think it was mine anyway. Did it have polished wheels, quite low. Sadly its not looking as good as it was. needs a little tlc on the outside and the wheels need refurbing/replacing. Have you seen the N reg one up there with bbs rims, same colour as mine with storm badges (Not sure if its just a badged up as a storm or actually is a storm) looked like the one in your avatar. It was low with clear rears and iirc the wheels were black with polished lip. Looked v shiny under the lights in the car park :) and was parked at the end of the row, bowling alley end. Can't remember seeing the N reg around. Don't usually see any in Bstoke although there is a Classic Green VR in Chineham Bus Park which I see occasionally. Mine isn't out too often either as I'm usually in my daily (so if you get a wave from a red Jetta, it's prob me!) There is now a monthly Basingstoke meet (BaD-VAG held at Longbridge Mill on A33) if you're interested in coming along?
