Thanks to Carl, bigpants baby, I now have a pile of climate control parts including a large chunk of wiring loom from a Passat VR6 to fit into the Corrado. The mechanical part looks pretty straight forward, maybe major but straight forward, especially as the engine is out of the car right now. The electrics however look like more of a challenge. Of the people who have already fitted CC, has anyone found a manual with any wiring diagrams that are of use? Haynes don't do one for the Passat VR6 but does anything else give a general picture of it, I'm not bothered about wiring colours etc, just what goes to where? Cheers, Tony

Yesterday: Pulled head off, stripped and cleaned all the bits, checked valve guide clearance and happily don't need to fit new ones even after 110,000 miles :D and started lapping valves in :x Today: Ordered £380 worth of rebuild bits, cam chains etc, gaskets and clutch. Tomorrow: Picking up climate control bits as I feel like a real challenge!

After reading this thread I just ordered one from the local stealers as I've got the engine in bits at the moment. The Parts guy was really not sure about selling me a Sharan head gasket for a Corrado "On my own head be it" sort of thing! £41.87 +VAT anyway! Nobody replied to the question about torque settings when using this gasket although I see no reason for them to change, is that the case? Cheers, Tony

I'd been tempted to go further with upgrading stuff but I think I'm just going to keep it close to standard, I've got the S3 for that anyway :D PS Sorry about the S3 avatar, still trying to find a pic of the Corrado I can use!

Hi all, I'm new to this forum but not to Corrados having bought my first one in Jan 95, a Pearl Blue 1.8 16V, if anyone owned G43 KUH since then I'd like to know what happened to it! That one was traded in Sept 00 for a Classic Green VR6 that I have sat in the garage these days. The VR has been off the road since early this year when we bought an Audi S3 so I'm now getting the chance to fix all the bits that were getting shabby; a few panels are being painted, the wheels have been refurbed, driver's seat fixed where I sat down with a screwdriver in my back pocket etc. My next job is gearbox out to do the cam chains and clutch plus oil pump, top end rebuild, the usual for an 11 year old car. Hope to get it back on the road some time in the spring next year. I was a member of CCGB from the very early days until the end of 2002, member #058 if anyone remembers Tony Dolby from then?
