will 2, Where did you get them from? That's a good price. are there more from where they came from?
-
latestarter2, I have the same problem with the same exhaust fitted by the same people on my VR. I have had it adjusted several times, but the knocking comes back eventually. The best and most recent improvement was as a result of uprating the rear exhaust hangar - I can't find reference to which one was used on the last invoice, Vince fitted it so you could ask him what he suggests. Or anyone else on here might suggest an improvement.

The Veyron....who else would sell their grandmother just to get a chance to drive it at 253 mph??? Unbelievable!
-
Yeah, your right. They were the thing to have. I know guys in the Forces who were based in Germany when the G60 then the VR6 came out; You get tax-free cars if you are based in Germany and so everyone drives new cars. They were definitlely the thing to have in the early '90's. I have met several blokes who said they bought them new. So many people remember driving one or being driven in one! Even my dad remembers being driven in one owned by a client he was doing some work for. A VR6, he thinks. He was taken out to lunch in it...got there rather quickly as he recalls!!

Just a word of warning, chaps. And glen, I hope this is not who you are dealing with. But have nothing to do with anyone calling herself Claudia (aka Claudia Schoeling) trying to sell VW parts on eBay. She is based in Germany but sells on UK eBay. Last year, I bought a recon'd VR6 2.9 engine off her, which never arrived, and lost £600 into the bargain! Still a source of huge annoyance to me.

Well done John, Good review. I know you love them! what should I put on my new 17s when I get 'raound to it then?! 8)

I am afraid I too would be fearing the worst. My 2.9 had done 102K when Vince took the head off to confirm what I had been suspecting. Like you, I had been using more oil than healthy and burning some on the overrun and when pulling onto roundabouts in 2nd, 3rd gear with low revs. There was evidence of pinking and some pitting, so needed a rebuild. Point is, this is the worst case. It may be down to something else, but it seems that the head will have to come off to be sure. Also, you are putting extra strain on everything with FI, particularly given the mileage it has done. Hope it turns out to be something else entirely, mate. You have my sympathies. :?

Biscuit every time, pal. Got to be.

The holy grail of dials - IMHO - are the OE ones that fit down just in front of the gearstick, made by VDO I think. They are a volt and oil pressure gauge combo. They have Corrado written on the dial face, as per the standard dash dials and the backlighting is as per the original dash lighting. I got mine from GPC in Luton, but that was a few years ago and i'm not sure they are still available. Cost me about £100 IIRC. The DDI dial set comes with the necessary bits to upgrade these dials aswell as the standard ones. Checked your link and the dial looks ok. Where is it supposed to mount? Don't think much of the one they advertise for the 'Rado that sits in front of the air vent either. I am very keen to get one of these DDI kits myself, with the aluminium surrounds and red LED backlighting. Cool.

That Claudia women owes me 600 notes aswell. I don't think I shall ever buy anything from abroad now, that is not from a company. Fidanza looks like a win, win mod.

Jeepers, Just spoke to HIC re my renewal. With cams and VW manifold mods on top of what I had before, they want just shy of £500 with ltd mileage, agreed value, 8 yrs NCB, club membership discount! Adding the manny and cams put the premium up 80 notes!! I think I too will have to go back to Brentacre, at least to get a quote.

Dirtysanta, I reckon that if you are going to go big when you charge it, then go big now. I have learnt with my car, that it is always better saving that bit longer to get what you really want rather than settling for second best and hoping that will do. Also, consider the Brembo set up that you can get from Seat that goes on the Cupra R. Not bad, a good range of pads available and decent size too. I am sure they are bigger than the 312mm off a TT...323 mm? I know Corozin on here has the setup on his car. I reckon I might go for that when I upgrade. Cheers.

Stainless steel VR6 6-2-1 exhaust manifold - whats the best?
chazrad replied to martyjmcfly's topic in Engine Bay
Oh dear, more ways to spend all that hard earned! Sounds very tempting....just like the Rotrex I saw at the Stealth RR Day 2 weeks ago...and the FK coilovers and the BMC CDA! Where do I stop?! I could almost be running a new GTI for the money I seem to sink into my C.....but I wouldn't have it any other way! .....My wife might leave me though. -
I got my loom through Trimsport in Somerset, a few years ago. It works firn. I think at the time they got someone up north to build them more or less to order. I had to wait a couple of weeks for mine. Worth it though for the improvement.

Voted. Corrado is still in 3rd place! C'mon chaps!
