  1. or if we're qued out the gates like usually happes at E38 or the pod we're law breaking, they're not gonna enforce it really!
  2. you/ve hit the nail on the head there... they're just gonna move us on from car parks, now this is just theory but Jon you mentioned those rave laws, they can use it to pull us all over and inspect the vehicles, the police can find something they believe to be illegal on a brand new car so i think we/re shafted! :( But the police have got to find said evil meet and quite frankly if we're all behaving meeting in places where the owners approve hows the police gonna find out, are they going to scoure the forums? i'm sure there are some corrado owners, probably on here who are also policmen but they arent going to inform they're colleagues are they. its those high profile events like Ace cafe (the kicking the poop out of a guy kind help screw that up!) that'll suffer as said above. My local police station has signs up appologising for the poor quality or service due to lack of staff... cant see them wasting more staff stopping people driving along the street... as long as we're not breaking normal road laws... say trying to find out what a VR sounds like in a tunnel at full chat  lol
  3. I think by 5 spoke polished you mean the 'Competition' Wheels... they're 17" in diameter and 7.5" wide, they come with 225 profile tyres as standard so if your looking at getting any second hand off the oh so careful TT owner - dont know why audi put polished wheels on a car who's owners never seem to look after their cars! i cant remember ever seeign a TT with a set of good condition Comp's! THESE ONES?? I dont know the offset as i've just put mine back on my mk3 and sorry but its raining and i cant be arsed to take them off!... might find some time this weekend To fit them you'll need some 4-5 stud adaptors, there are various kits available, ally's better, its lighter... but it costs more, there are cheaper mild steel kits but i'd go for H&R' 4-5 stud adaptor kits, about £200 i think, the problem you'll hav is pushing the wheels even further out into the arches where already they sit closer to the inside lip of the arch, if you wanna slam it you'll have issues! you can probably get away with 215 45 17's if you only go 50mm lower (got these on the golf with a 90mm drop but slamming it wll need 205's probably?? help anyone?
  4. New cars and shapes always look good in white cos its light it shows the fresh new design off the best... but when they get a bit older they can look quite dated for the same reason... used to work for a car company and even the cheaper priced cars look cool when new even once they're seen over 100k (in only a few months after a bit of enthusiastic testing :D ) its still got the new factor once its washed, but 5 years down the line it will show the age of its lines against the new emerging rivals. Rant over, got nothing against white cars just would buy one!
  5. I'll have a dig around at home then at the weekend when i get some time try and write a wiki on it. tbh there must be a quicker process, each wheel took hours to finish! but at least by hand you have the control not to damage anything
  6. Maybe i'm just lucky or maybe this is a lot of uneccessery fuss about indicators flashing redy orange but i have yet to be pulled for my indicators, i have red sprayed rear lights, with standard bulbs, they indicate completely red, i fitted them in december and cover 400miles(ish) a week in my C i put it in for an mot back in march (i think) and the car flew through without an issue. I understand you want your cars to be legal to the letter of the law to avoid unwated police attention but surely this is in the same catogory as wheels which stick out of the arches and plates with incorrect fonts/spacing/colours etc which seems to be generally accpeted as ok on here. I dont want to piss anyone off but i just cant see what all the excitement is about?

    Arches!!!

Sorry again about that dude, i completely forgot you cant go normal speeds with those 'special' wheels, seriousl though you need to get the arches sorted else you may as well put a 1.3 in it
  8. I polished the outers on my RXII's by hand and it was a pain but really did give a fantastic mirror'd finish, they were refurbished by BJV Engineering but they couldnt polish them for me so just fine diamond cut the rims and lacquered them, the dreaded water got in though and they started to go cloudy. The process was (i did this without splitting them - possibly not the best way but i didnt feel compentant resealing them!) 1. Remove wheel and deflate tire 2. Thoroughly clean and scrub and dirt off wheel and tire and allow to dry (important for marking to stick properly. 3. Mask off any area that you don’t want Nitromorse on, i.e. tires, centres etc with newspaper and masking tape then double up with duck tape as its water resistant and will hold your original masking in place when you're stripping the paint off (its a wet process) 4. Now the most important part of this is you protect yourself so I’ve found Tesco Durable rubber gloves are the strongest to use (also a unisex black colour) and cost about £1.50. Wear long sleeves and goggles. 5. Apply the nitromorse with a toothbrush (again Tesco came up trumps with a tesco value hard bristled one) to the entire area (can work in smaller areas on larger jobs like polishing TT comps or something) 6. Leave for about 15 mins and go check the progress, it should have lifted most of the lacquer off in a crinkly skin, using a bucket of clean water use the toothbrush to scrub the area to remove the lacquer and remove from the surface. (this is a wet process hence the duck taking over all the masking) Repeat 5&6 until all lacquer is removed. 7. Now wash down with a scouring pad/sponge and remove all masking, again wash down the entire wheel with a sponge and plenty of clean water. You can now start the polishing! You can ditch the marigolds and protective gear now! 8. Providing there is no kerbing on your wheels you can start at 800grit wet and dry, ensure you have a bucket with plenty of clean water – a sunny day and cold beer also helps! Get sanding and do the whole area you wish to polish to this standard before moving on to the next grade. 9. Move up to 1200 and 1600 again do the whole area you wish to polish to this standard before moving on to the next grade. 10, I found this provided a mat metallic finish with no visible scratches so I moved on to the autosol. You’ll need an old t shirts cut into bits and autosol or equivilant metal polish. Basically just apply the polish and keep rubbing and reapplying till you can see your face in it (no really you can!) Then refit the part/wheel and stand back and feel pleased with yourself! You may wish to do the polishing over a couple of days as you do get very tender skin on your thumbs!! Hope this helps

    Wet Belts

after driving around in the fantastic weather this weekend i went to get in the car this afternoon and noticed the portion of the seatbelt which stowes behind the rear quarter trim panel was very damp, i presume this means a seal has perished, has anyone experianced the same issues, could you advise where the wet stuff might be getting in? thanks

    I smell Fuel?

I'm glad its a common problem... i've been smelling fuel for the past week, hopefully the rain'll hold off till tomorrow eveing and i'll do it tomorrow morning! :D cheers
  13. Hey have you thought about doing what KADVR6 has done with his seats? order a load of that redye/seal stuff and refurbish the leather, presuming the stichings ok. The standard wheels not a bad bit of kit, i thiught it made the interior quite dated though and i just couldnt operate the clutch properly as it was in the way!

    Which Seats??

Sounds like the best excuse ever for not pulling a fat lass (lorry ladies!) But tbh i'm 6'5" and weigh over 15 stone and i had room to spare when i sat in the pole positions, as far as being hot in the summer i'm a bit skeptical that they'd be any warmer than the standard leathers?? O but those alfa recaros look 8) i like the adjustable front bolster Good idea dude, in fact if i get some pink leather in there i can accessorise with gingham centre panels and matching dash lights... wouldn't that be pretty!! I was told that they are the Pole positions, i know they may look a bit racy but they really do provide the sort of support i'm looking for, i had a sit in their orange demo car (TT Shop) and they're the seats in it. feels strange at fist with the bat wings around your shoulders but i recon i could get used to that

    Which Seats??

I think i'll have to scoure ebay... went to the TT shop sat to pick up my new brakes and i asked them about the seats, well over £600 a shot 2nd hand apparently but rare as rocking horse manure - they've only heard of 2 sets changing hands and they did 1, i think i'll bust a few months of OT and have a look towards the end of the summer (i'd rather take my time rather than changing them for changes sake!) Cheers for all your advice guys, i'll let you know when i find some i like! :)

    Which Seats??

ha ha that requires patience, i'm far to impulsive for that  , fingers crossed though, think i might go hunting round the jap owners club sites

    Which Seats??

Jay2, its a never ending argument... but if it helps the xr3 i used to have  was crap compared to friends mk2 gti's i'd been in (doenst even compare to the C!) Paulr1980, i've had a look at the evo seats and they do look cool, are they all cloth though? cos if not i've really got to factor in the cost of retrimming them and tbh i wouldnt attempt the sowing marathon of KADVR6, I've just remembered a friedn of a friend has a rocco bought for £5 from a local college as spares for their gt2, are the standard subframes the same as the C's?
  18. yeah i havent been able to make it up to mk for a few months but with a bit of luck if i dont have rugby commitments i should be there next week. I'm afraid i havent had my C long enough to suggest anything else, o well good luck dude
  19. All most certain the suspension is identical, plus the wishbones are the same part number and i've heard numerous times they're the same
  20. Hey bally before you go ordering any motors chekc the fuses, i know it might sound a bit to simple but when mine went, the passenger one worked, the drivers didnt and i could hear clicking when i operated the switch. I cant remember the fuse position... Anyone got a diagram to hand?

    Which Seats??

cheers man, i'm sure i've a bucket and spade in the garage i could use as matching gearstick and cupholder
  22. yeti

    Which Seats??

Like it! but i'm guessing you have sacrificed the back seats as being a 4 door i'd imagine they dont recline? Just so i know when the subframes do come up how much do they normally go for? I think they look great but not for the C, they dont fit with any of the lines of the car or interior. I'd like the seats to fit in and look oe.. not stand out like a set of crystal lexus lights on a chavalier! (Saw one on the way to work this morning so fresh in my mind  ) thats whty i like the look of the TT ones or Recaro Speed style, if you look at the headrest shape it matches the profile of the headrests on the C's rear bench (Warning - geek!)
  23. yeti

    Which Seats??

Well it seems that even for recaro's you have to be creative and make new subframes from the remains of old ones (not to difficult by the looks of it its just welding up some angle or box and attaching it to the C subframes with the relevant mounting holes to ensure the seat sits right) so in theory yeah, any holes a goal! Corsa seats do look awesome (did i just say that  ) look similar to the old s3 recaros maybe? http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/images/fro ... 1529_5.jpg

    Which Seats??

ha ha the thoughts were already there, think of it as the kick up the arse i needed! :D Like the photo of the ford seats - looks as if they're been left out in the rain, quality marketing from the seller there  Slightly confused now you say the cloth seats have better support? do you mean the cloth recaros? cos the leathers i have are the standard non recaros. _leon_, tbh there's probably no way in hell i could ever afford GT3 seats, plus i'm 6'5" so getting in and out would be a chore with those side plates! O and does it get hot in Dundee? ;) Jay2, which Ford RS mate, theres been a few! Cheers for the advice guys, i think i'm gonna have to spend a while looking into this! Andy

    Which Seats??

Yeah i was siding towards the R32 seats as i like them but i'm a bit concerned - they have side airbags dont they? so they'll be fookin heavy! thats a bit of a hardcore option and yeah they dont really fit with the rest of the interior! But i like the idea of the lightweight seats... anyone know if the lightweight TT that was released a few years ago (two tone black and silver i think) are significantly lighter than the normal ones? pic of them below... look the nuts IMO
