  1. ummmm i like the black ones lol, it looked good before but with those wheels on... very cool 8) have you trial fitted them yet to see how badly they rub? guessing they're 17x8? glad to see and old rado being repaired not broken when the dreaded rust sets in :D is it a long term overhaul or will it make E38 in a month?
  2. erm why do you wanna de coilover it?? if they're ok why dont you just wind it up to standard ride height?
  3. Whilst a wee bit drunk at the scorcher Jon (vwdeviant) kindly offered me some polish and i spent most of the afternoon cleaning it, doesnt look too bad i think :) after this week i'll have the new brakes on and seeing other peoples engine bays at the weekend i think its about time i made it look a lil better under the bonnet and give it a bit more go :)

    Wheel Colour Q?

Dont go white dude, you'll be forever cleaning them, one of my mates has white wheels on his integra type r and he reckons they need cleaning every 50 miles! I'm liking the black and red ones though, something a bit different :)
  5. It was low speed so this occasion it was just superficial, there were some scratches on the front of the wing by the lamp but most of them were the previous owners parkign scars, it doesnt really justify a resprayed wing so i asked the bodyshop to machine polish them out which they did but unfortunately some are deeper than i thought but i'll have a go with some color wax and see if i cant hide them a bit! My brother is a student so I had to bribe him with some fish and chips so loyalty it seems comes at a price   i was very careful throughout the whole process to not let him know where i lived or was from, i simply told him i worked in a place near by hence i could just pop in, even made sure the copy of the bodyshop invoice had all my details tipexed out and then photocopied so he couldnt tell (i'm not normally parranoid, but i tend to be a bit obsessive when it comes to the C!)
  6. what a beautiful thought... he's got a t4 van though so despite the fact i'm a tall bugger mounting his windscreen may be a wee bit difficult. Thanks for all the advice though, appreciate it, i phoned the insurance company to ask for advice, there were bery pleasant but useless simply told me to go to the police as the claim would be less than my excess... didnt seem to underatand it not being my fault i wouldnt be paying!! advised speakin gto the police unfortuanely the police were rather disinterested as he had fulfilled his part of the law by exchanging details and by entering into an agreement verbally to pay up outside of insurance, apparently it was my own fault! I decided bollocks to the law so i decided to be antisocial and got my lil brother (6'8" rower :D ) and went and parked in the middle of his street with the windows opend and slipknot blaring and knocked on his door with a photocopy of the bodyshop invoice and photos before and after, he wouldnt answer the door despite all the lights being on so wrote him a lil note about my intentions to pursue it further with the help of my insurers legal team and posted it through his letter box... strangely i got a call 30mins later saying he'd had trouble with his mobile, he wasnt trying to avoid me and he'd have the money tomorrow for me just go over to his site at lunch 8) I'll pop over with one of the lads at work just in case but i cant see there being an issue. thanks again for all the help... useful and amusing! :D i'll post up tommorow once i get the cash!
  7. maybe i'm being thibk but it seems at some points in the video it looks to have 6 cylinders in each bank vr6 styly configuration yet in others it sems to have 8? so is it a video of a w12 then a video of a w16 put together? an amazing amoutn of work though!
  8. Cheers for the advice Yeah i've been thinking about going to speak to mr plod but i cant see them being intrested unless i mention that i think he's uninsured :D actually thats not a bad idea... i'll try ringing him again this evening off some different numbers... he's a builder after all and he wont ignor calls from unknown numbers! if not i'll take a quick trip to the cop shop and see if they can help
  9. no problem mate, just pm me your address and i'll pop them in an envelope and send them to you
  10. Hey guys a little advice please Two weeks ago on tuesday i'd just picked my brother up from work and we went to get a kebab from the centre of Bedford for dinner, health food in toe i went to turn round in a side street just behind a builder who was doing the same. i was waiting behind him to pull on to the main road as he went to pull away he instead rolled back and his towbar hit the offside front corner of my bumper, he pulled around and stopped on the other side of the road. I got out and looked at the car, couldnt really see any damage put he insisted on giving me his card just in case. Turns out in the light of day the morning afer i noticed he'd scratched it and smashed the bumper bracket. Not much damage i know but i didnt see why i should repair the damage he caused so i went to a local bodyshop a got a quote for it. then phoned him to tell him, he was quite decent about it and said just get it done and we'll sort the money out after so i booked it in and got the work done... Spoke to him after to arrange a time to get the money and his tone changed and started insisting to see the car and invoices... i sai this wasnt a problem and had before and after photos to back up the issue with a report from the estimator. But i've now spoke to him twice more to arrange a time to get the money off him hes now ignoring my calls... Not sure what to do really, i got his card so i have his name address and mobile number but didnt take his reg (cant believe i was so daft) any one got any advie on the best course of action short of taking my rugby team to his front door and demanging the money? not really the right way to behave! :( thanks Andy

  12. looks like a nice tidy vr... the wheels are odd looking, sorry but they look of like the side view of the top of a beer can with the rim sticking out so much  looks great on the speedlines though, good job! wheels might look cool on a bigger mk4 golf it was slammed, try putting them on e38 and clubgti?
  13. Evening.... I popped into the fasteners place today and the guy looked in the non collected orders bin and hey presto... stumbled upon 40 of exactly the right bolts for this conversion, look to have a black protective coating on them as well, so i bought the lot, waiting on my spacers to be laser cut at work but i'll have 2 spare sets of 4 spacers (20mm Outside Diameter 12.25mm Inside Diameter 6mm deep) to the first 2 people who want them... free to the first 2 people who ask in this thread, i didnt pay for them anyway :D and 36 spare bolts just tell me if you want them... pm, i'll post them to you :D I think its only fair therapor if i give you the first spare set of spacers, if you want them that is, hope this helps guys, o and mods do you want me to take some pics to add to the wiki at each spet of the process seeign as this seems to be a popular conversion?

    Wheel Colour Q?

yeah but not without luck and alot of friendly belgians... got too pissed on the train on the way there (drank the first crate of 24 bottles by midday... started at 7am :D )and lost all the tickets for me and my mates, as in the english intenal rail tickets, eurostar, festival and camping, my mates were gonna kill me so i went back to the local town whered i'd dropped the carrier bag with the tickets in to find them gone (supprising eh!) but managed to find all the train tickets dumped in a pile in a corner of the square (v lucky) someone swiped the rest put luckily they were willing to replace the tickets on production of the booking id, passport and most rediculous puppy dog faces ever! awesome weekend though! :-) on a more helpful note i'd go for a very high crome silver type finish or powder coat them black and diamond cut them next year after the winter? bjv did an awesome job on my rxii's, good price as well, just dont drive there in anything low! o found this on a french site if it helps
  15. yep must be marketing b0llocks... they always tell the truth dont they... ha ha ha ha The s3 has the same sized wheels as the new r32 and similar power at about 260ish bhp... o and vw only put 365mm discs on the gallardo so unfortunately i dont think they'll put these nosebleed inducing brakes on the s3! :( shame though as like you say i'd have really liked to see the calliper arrangement! my moneys on the same twin pistons set as on the r32?
  16. I had a word with the place again and it seems i must have spoke to someone who didnt have a clue last time! Dinkus you were right its difficult to get hold of the hex heads in that size and tensile strength, cap head only. The guy was dead helpful and suggested the best and cheapest plan of action was to get M12x1.5x45 bolts and turn them down and refinish them, i dont have access to a lathe but a frend does and will be able to do a few sets for me but not the whole box (they have a minimum cash order or £20) and its £29.99 + vat for 100 (not sure if theres gonna be that many people doing this upgrade) he has over 500 in stock whereas the 40pitch bolts will need to be ordered To get hex heads at this size from them it'll require tooling and machining, with a £50 blanket fee to start with before you produce any bolts, obviously the more bolts we could order the less they'd cost, but quite frankly they're gonna be too much compared to the cap head. Unless anyones got any other ideas i might order some in the correct thread length and just get a set for myself and therapor to be machined down, then people can just pm me and ask for bolts in the future?... i'll hopefully be able to bring them up to summer scorcher as well
  17. its alive! wicked the dvla finally stopped pleasuring themselves with your rolled up v5 and returned it! look forward to seeing it again next week, any of the wish list going to be appearing for the scorcher?
  18. :D always think its amazing what a good set of wheels can do to a passat! looking good man
  19. hey, wlecome! :) mmmm shiney, looks good... slightly partial to black ones, it looks like a pretty clean standard one, any plans to change it?
  20. cheers dinkus, i'll have another word with the local trade place, they might be able to at least order a batch... i'm sure other folks on here including therapor will be needing some seeing as its a relitively cheap brake upgrade - i'll put something up tomorrow when i've had a word
  21. man have you had any luck with your car recently! its the standard corrado disease... you were thinking of spending money making her prettier, she sensed it and decided to use your money on a new matrix! always the way! good luck getting it sorted, does this mean its curtains to what you were talking about yesterday for a while then? :(
  22. Hey after 2 months of waiting i'll hopefully be getting my braided hoses in the next week ... got the rest of the set up sitting on the bench in the garage and i'm still struggling to find the high tensile bolts needed for this conversion, kind of slipped my mind for a while but with the penultimate piece of the jigsaw on the way i'm itching to get them on. Is it really only possible to get high tensile M12x40x1.5 12.9 bolts in cap head seems strange that there arent any hex head jobbies available? if so would any body be able to point me in the right direction of a fixings supplier that is able to sell just 4 of high tensile bolt that'll fit? thanks alot in advance! Cheers Andy

  24. gotta agree 6.5 is just too thin, 7 looks factory in my eyes (i do need glases!) mine's pretty low on 16x7 bbs's and its so where near the arches but judging by herisites tires recently, i'll stick with skinny 7's... Robs looks cool though so its all good! lol
