Heres me at a britney spears concert
-
you've probably looked at this already but how far off the hubs would 7.5" brocks be? could you not space them out a wee bit? you'll probably see some new wheels you want at e38 anyhow

well i wasnt planning on driving to the slopes this year so i think i'll be safe.. cheers dom

Hmm i'm concerned now, i just put mobil 1 super syn 0w-40 in mine as it'll be due another oil change before winter so it was just intended for summer use really and thought this'd be the best for the job... i know oil technology has come along way and you can run the same oil in summer and winter comfortably but is it not better to have a an oil in there more suited to conditions? besides as long as you let the car warm up even in winter wouldnt a lower w rating still do the job?

wrap some electrical tape around a flat headed screwdriver head and as phil says work from the back forwards, should just pop out without scratching anything, be careful putting the aftermarket ones in though as the little tabs tend to be quite brittle

hey filski i'm glad the elusive 2l 8v is still running strong (if a lil hot) i had this problem on an old golf with the same engine, maybe the thermostat was faulty? and try flushing the coolant system and fill with some new g12 (or g8,9,10,11) the pink one, should bring the temp back down to 90, unles you've renewed the collant recently? could hve an airlock??

Does anyone Know where to get Chrome bonnet hinges and catch
yeti replied to C. Will Corrado G60 2's topic in Suppliers Forum
i remember a company called blingtastic do some or can chrome them for you, the dude you owned the show winning white rocco that was/is for sale runs it (or at least when golf+ featured it a few months back) cant find a number on google but his forum ad has a number attached, rocco-jocco ... could always pm him? http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=59839 or maybe trimsport http://www.trimsport.co.uk (the website seems to be down atm) Tel: 01460 242294 found this one on ebay http://stores.ebay.co.uk/LMR-Chrome-and ... ed-vw-shop hope that helps -
you should find more of a selection in 215 40 16's, they're what i'm running and according to those calculator things its reading 1.3% wrong... i can live with that though, btw dunflop sp9000s are good :D

best one i've ever been to is VeeDubs in newcastle (well gateshed quays) its enormous and they have large stocks of sets of used vag alloys engines etc go out of newcastle over the bridge and head towards sunderland down shields road, its left at a roundabout, head past morrisons and its down a pokey backstreet, basically head back towards the water! I dont know if this helps but the knobs are the same fitting, i have a passat one in mine and it fit perfectly
-
Hey rob i dont know if you've sorted this yet but if your stck for a place to go locally, autotronix in bedford are spot on, fitted my alarm just before xmas, sound blokes and all know what they're talking about + its a ice and auto electronic place really but they also supply and fit window films... u gonna go for limo tint this time :D
-
Right i finally got round to fitting these this weekend, i went for the combo of the TT callipers and carriers of of vehicle that had dont only 30k a full 6 set of goodridge braided hoses, Brembo vented 312 discs, EBC greenstuff pads and dot 5.1 fluid to really sort out the braking, with a standard engine atm i think it'll do :) This was the standard set up Shiney new bits ... they dont fit, it seems 16" BBS are a wee bit small for the 312s... i unfortunately painted everything first so i had to take them all off and file knuckle off the back of the callipers, A very snug fit! they look cool imo 8) very pleased now i just have to fit the other 4 hoses in the week and hopefulyl should be ready to take it for a spin :D

i have a spare unused sigma fob upstairs, can you post a pic of the needed bit???
-
cool, i'll try it if i get the chance but at the moment its stuck at the back of the workshop and i havent a good enough excuse to take it out, although as soon as i do i'll check it, i noticed theres a bit of rust bubbling round the rear arch and the rear lights got a hole in it, the plus drivers barrels missing... all help make it look tatty as, but it seems pretty solid and even with the little trips its getting ave 45mpg hence perfect for a tatty motorway mile muncher :D Problem is i darent be seen fixing it before they decide to get rid of it, it'll end up costing me more!

had to stick my 2p's worth in here, the mk3 is a great little car as a runnabout out the factory, you just have do a lot turning inot a propper hot hatch, my gti was a hoot and that only had 139bhp by the time i'd finished with it, cos it was an 8v it was great fun around town, plus it has the modern car comforts that the mk2 lacks... pas, leccy windows, aircon, sunroof, driver and passenger airbags etc. Besides i cant fit in a mk1 so screw you all
-
sweet, cheers guys, that doesnt sound too bad, nothing terminal anyway, it pulls like a normal tdi in 1st 2nd and 3rd around town so i might try and push the issue as i'll be taking the C off the road after E38 and i'd like to get it sorted and once runnig properly tweaked to how i want it... couldnt leave it standard

I somehow doubt any of the profit from new ones would go back to repaying the british taxpayer for the millions wasted on an underpowered poor handling relic (i dont like them by the way  ) the new ones like the original will be left hand drive and the prospect of driving a delorean around modern city's kind of scares me... we think the C's brakes are bad... a huge Stainless body's never gonna help the car stop! and as said above that engine is truly terrible but it ceased production a long while back so i wonder what they'll use instead (used to work next to a guy for a year who's dad was an engineer for delorean and if anyone mentioned them he never shut up so i've heard a few stories!) i'd imagine a new gm engine, vecta v6 maybe? or maybe a small block v8
-
ooo que super geek engineer  1 ps = 0.986 hp basically used as a marketing ploy as we're constandly told they're pretty much the same, a bit like but opposite principals to selling something for £9.99 rather than £10, i.e. mk5 golf gti i think is advertised as having the magic 200ps which is actually 197bhp, but it sounds more impressive to say you have over 200 than 100 and a bit

Heya following a weekend sat in a field imagining what a passat looked like... well they turned up sunday  i started to really like the idea of one... (was too much booze and sun! :D ) By chance i drove the workshops passat workhorse today and found it wasn't pulling at all in 4th and 5th beyond 60mph really, about 2200rpm plus it feels like there is absolutely nothing left! It might just be the fact its used to do random trips around and not looked after (noticed the cooling light flashing and had to put 2 litres of water in it before i drove it!) apart from the obvious power issues i was well impressed with the brakes and ride, its a 1999 plate and done 125k which doesnt seem too bad for the age really. I mentioned the enggine issues to my boss and he said '...o that old things still coked up eh? dont fret the new passat arrives next week we'll be binning that one...' i said i'd take it off their hands if they just wanted to scrap it as its too good to bin with alloys, cental locking climatronic and all that (dont get me wrong it is a shed just a well specced one  ) and i'm sure the problems could be fixed... but can they? I've joined the passat forum but i'm waiting on my account to be activated so i presumed theres plenty of tdi boys here who may know do these symptoms sound terminal? :(

Yep love the wheels too, had them in the garage when i bought it, never looked quite right at the standard ride height but the coilovers helped that! The last pic highlights a niggle i've always had, is it just me or does the front bumper sit low on mine, i've noticed a few valvers with the shut lines a lot tighter, if this really is standard does anyone know is there anything i can do to make it smaller? its always noticed by fellow car nuts and they ask if its been crashed, i was told and it looks like original paint apart from one rear corner which i noticed had a bit of overspray at the weekend :( but thats almost impossible to spot
-
i'm rathing tired this evening so my spelling usually goes up the spout! no plan of switching to a pint of Mobil 1 smooth just yet  Ta for the help, i'll pop in to get some at the weekend, hopefully the probs with the search'll be ironed out by then?
-
Hey guys did you manage to get these to fit? taken the C off the road for 2 weeks to sort all the brakes out so instead of the normal new vr discs and mk4 callipers solution this sounds much more up to the task of bringing the C's brakes into the relms of modern motoring!

I have tried searching but cant find what i'm after, I need to change my oil after a recent rather high temperature incident after some spirited driving last week, not sure what the best brand is to put in the VR the wiki says 'VW Silver Synta (10W/40) is recommended and Silkolene Pro S 10W/50 Fully Synthetic is also reported to be excellent' but i was wondering if anyone has better experiances with others.... o also i have always used vw oil filters on my golfs but i know a few friends with jap cars swear by 'performance brand' filters such as trd and hks for mr2 turbos, are there any better to use for the VR? thanks andy

hey just thought i'd have a perv at the ill fated wheels, i really hope they get them sorted cos they look awesome! :( o and after following you on friday and listening to other people sugesting getting a non-vr rado to run everyday i've been trying to find a yellow one all week... b*stard

Pretty sure thats the monster that was running in low 10's at gti spring festival at the pod earlier in the year, just seen in in the golf mag that dropped through my door this morning, i cant find the thread from that show but i'm pretty sure someone asked the same question in that thread... sorry cant be more help the ending line of '...veyron owners beware...' kind of misses the point of the car in my eyes! still like the golf mag though so i'll forgive them
