went to the local dealers on friday and thought i'd pop into the sales area and ask a few questions, after sitting down with the sales manager (who apparently spends most of his life on vw vortex  ... not a bad job it seems) he just mentioned again about a tsi engine but said the latest photo he had was this one... slightly more coupe shaped in a more neutral collour the profile looks a lil bit a5/ aston v8 vantage to me, not a bad thing :D o and he took my details saying he'd send through an info when he got it and email any new pics, sales talk probably but helpful none the less!

cheers dude... yeah dont look bad for a family car ;) lol it was a fun drive home with you in my mirrors... need to get some of your brakes for mine now :) yep i know they'll be looked after! and constantly cleaned and polished  cheers man, yeah the turn in is less sharp and its not quite as nimble, o and if you lower it as much as i have attacking bumpy corners scrubs the wheels on the arches... apart from that it feels far more stable at speed and is far easier to live with on my daily commute to work and uni, speedhumps arent an issue unless they're the tortoise shell ones, i'll pick a different route 8)

looks sweet on the new wheels man, you could think about doing what i was about to with em though... space them out so they fill the arches then they'll look even cooler 8) either way they look like a good oem+ wheel!

these are the last pics of my toy with the rxII's at players this year :( ... the new wheels are awesome though 8) 17x7.5 BBS RC's... i can get over speedhumps now :) just boring driveway shorts ufortunately, drove past a golf club and thought i'd take some more scenic shots o well now i like the outside and it stops well i need to find my new seats 8)
-
erm any pics of the new wheels on there mate?
-
looking very smart... could do with a petrol cap though  (sorry!) looks very sweet on those wheels and its sitting just right 8) i love the way that 17's work so well with the curve of the arch... when its lowered right it looks like they're all concentric circles, like you say really fits witht he shape of the car!

cheers fellas but i ended up ordering some from the local dealers, apparently they had one part in stock but not both but i needed some new sensors as well so i just ordered the lot and at the end of the month i'll change it all and put it in for its service before it goes away for winter :)

I yeah i thoguht they have the same carriers, possibly the best place to reseach would be audi forums cos alot of the a4,a3 t's etc came with 312's so might well be a common upgrade... intreigued though as i've just got similar sized wheels and like karl have the 312's :D

Right due to the fun and games of moving house i havent got my arse in gear to fit my newly blinged inlet manifold in time for the super bling players show on sunday... anyone know where to get one on next day delivery for sat or around the south east area that might have one in stock? O and has anyone used this awsoem gti one... i dont believe claims of 5bhp for a gasket, but if it truly does cool intake temps it may add up? http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/vw%20corrado/engine.html Cheers for you helps boys and girls Andy

have a look in the for sale section i seem to remember there are a fe wsets going atm

yep i'll agree with that, the hicon gt's i've got are superb for the money, not too harsh eather, obviously its a different different ride to the standard set up but the lower you have it the harsher it'll be!
-
i think you can get plus has from halfords but i got mine from a friendly inddependant one, much more use of proper stuff like that, o and i'd agree on the bloody great pole... it took me a breaker bar and a 1.5m length on old galv pipe and i'm no midget!

if the body's just dented and scratched then give dentmaster a go, even if it doesnt work you'd only be paying for those dents to be pulled when you got it sprayed by the bodyshop so it's gotta be worth a go!

i'll keep my eyes peeled over this side of the country, and if you do locate it dont call the police as they probably wont be interested, i'll quite happily lend some assistance if required though :D

Biggerbigben - Golf sold.. another new project!
yeti replied to biggerbigben's topic in Members Gallery
ooo nasty... hopefully its just the limitations of the casting, hopefully you know a friendly machinist? -
The renesis engine won an award if i remember rightly, it is a comepletely new development of the old rex 7 engine and is a much more civilised beasty, the bloke who sits behind me at work has an 06 one and seems to love it, its in that lightish blue colour too and looks stunning! o one thing to look out for is the alloys and silver rotary shaped badge corroding, the wheels are a mazda fix and they will order a new set for you if yours are fooked, not sure what age of car this covers but worth askking the dealer

karl i have a feeling these were only supplied in mainland europe and i suppose the states where they have harsher winters, may be wrong though! canadas a long way to swim!

i think they're 112 if i remember right, look bloody awesome mirror polished on a mk3 i saw a while back, good choice... 8)

£800 thats sod all for a turbo set up! all i can find on there is a suprcharger set up for about £1450 without postage and import tax... i'd love to know if that 8v turo kit is still available!
-
erm what are you trying to insure and what modifications have you got? i'm the same age as you but my policy was from when i was 21 and i pay double that (but i only have a yars no claims and a minor accident on record :( ) if you have a vr you are a lucky lad with that price!
-
sweet as, cheers guys, i'll pop in and get some tonight :)

I fitted some new arches to my mk3 all round earlier and have since remembered i need to trim most of the lower plastic sections where the rivets go to allow the tyres to fit (7.5x17 with 80mm drop) i had 2 of the old arches flapping slightly and i want these new ones to be solid, i'm sure there is a body sealant or putty or something you can use as i used it on the rears but that was a few years ago and i cant remember what the stuff was called (no chance of finding it in the garage :( unfortunately) ideally i need something thats available from a halfords or similar, i have a feeling if i pop into the bodyshop next door they'll change a fortune for the stuff they use! thanks alot andy

yep agreed you should be fine, i have 215 40 16's on 7j rims the offset is e43, lowered about 60-80mm its got loads of clearance, easily a thumbs width between the inside of the arches and the tires, this is on a vr where the standard wheels are 6.5 x 15's et43 you'll actually notice your tires are now smaller than originally especially with the slight stretch on those 215's so it seems like it'll be a nice fit 8)

yeah cheers tom, thats what i was thinking basically all the engine bay components and electrics, i'd hope the fusebox would be the same i'm just wondering about engine mounts and subframes, cos its looking like it might be best to buy a very rear ended one and canibilise the front!

Hi guys quick and to be honest a bit of a vague question, has anyone ever changed their 8v into a 16v, i have a 2.0 8v agg at the mo and i'm in the process of putting the 3rd replacement box in it (yes i know 2nd hand box's are a mugs game but the last one went due to an unfortunaely placed pot hole!) its been played with a bit and as such is a very pokey little 8v (3 years ago it achieved just under 140bhp on the rollers) As the title suggests i've been thinking it might be a better idea to put a 2.0 abf in it as it has more horses out of the box and i'd have thought with my induction kit, decat and aftermarket exhaust it'd make a few more still. I know you should'nt build a car you can buy but its an anniversary model and i'm kind of attached to it after owning it for 3 years i'd really love to put a new pd tdi engine in it but i'm under the (possibly deluded) impression a 16v swaps fairly easy cheers andy
