  1. hi u r the current owner of m81 jnp right? well, if he's still got the alpine single cd h/unit i stuck in it, there is an aerial adapter required to make it fit the alpine unit - it's a "din" adapter if i remember right, and only a couple of quid from an i.c.e. supplier...never got round to fitting one! u need one of these...http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... duct=21617 hope this helps p.s. how is the old beast? miss him
  2. jeez....really should get mine done, i'm on 139k
  3. mine fell apart when cleaning the dash back in the summer......i walked back into the house, opened my spares box, took out a mk2 golf headlight switch, stuck it in - job done - not one prob, and it dosn't heat up like a b'stard either....anyone else using one of these? much better quality, and o.e. - can't ask for more! blow paying for a new crappy one from vag

  6. ha ha! good one herisites lmao that is vomit enducing though...
  7. finally got closure on my problem (water temp on dash reading 100-102 when warm/crusing and rising to 110 in heavy traffic when the nosiy fan settig would kick in and drop it a few degrees) there was NOTHING wrong with it!!!! dash reading was incorrect! where it read 102 on the dash, it was reading 89 under the bonnet; believe this was due to a sensor in the thermostat housing giving faulty readings - oh, and the fans were all coming in when they should! so, if you've got the o.k. on your 'stat, fan settings and coolant mix - check this sensor out! i was sitting in the car with it ticking over and the diagnostics plugged in watching the car warm up and the difference between the dash/diagnostics was obvious, and i can tell you i'm glad to know it was just a dodgy sensor! wahey, i can go for a long drive now without fear of cooking my engine! great threads guys, it's helped a lot with the fault finding 8)

  9. just read the entire thread...what a bellend; jap cars cheap to tune?! yeah right! fella comes across as a proper gary boy racer and needs to get a grip
  10. if i ever meet chris or goldie - pints are on me nice one fella's - know what i'm doing this weekend! :D
  11. hmmmm.....i'm hearing more and more about the waterpump been worn coming into the equation here.....funnily, my car came with a new spare vag pump....not fitted yet; next target... GOLDIE - my water temp is always a steady 100-102 on the dash at 70+mph - never, never moves unless in heavy traffic when it hits 110 and you hear the twin fans- and the other fan settings def work i'm told... still running with the 'stat the car came with - unsure of age, but am told is fine; have a spare o.e stat that reads 82 deg and a low temp neuspeed that reads 71 that could be fitted car loses no coolant, has no overheating issues - mechanic said temp switch replaced recently, and no need for new o.e. i supplied (or any of the other parts - got all you'd need) - all electrics o.k. as well i'm booking in for the waterpump change and more investigation, i'm not happy with it reading this high that's for sure - dare not drive a long distance just in case  great info by the way!
  12. very nice - another local C i've never run into!!!
  13. this just gets better...mine was in for m.o.t/service on friday (passed mot with flying colours :D ) and mech was having a look at cooling system while it was in - symptoms were: warmed to 100-102 degrees in around 5-10 minutes and only emergency fan seemed to come on at 110 degrees when stuck in heavy traffic.... .....mechanic left it running for 30 minutes - fan came in at 90 degrees (i thought it didn't work - it does!) and temp appears same on dash, and it's had it's system flushed and fresh g12+ added...... .....so i said to my mechanic " i was convinced the thermostat was shagged" - "not so" said he, "nothing wrong with it, fans come on when they should and temp is o.k." now i'm really confused - used this guy for years and he knows vw's well! car warms to 100 now, where it sits and never really moves - oil is at 100-110 when pushed hard...is this really to high?! handbook says when car is warm the dash guage should show 90/90+ under normal driving conditions.....i've known my mech 15 yrs and his attention to detail is great - if he thought something was wrong he would have changed the stat for the low temp one i supplied  another thing to add is the car has never felt "flustered" and the temp needle has never gone above 110 in the 6 months i've owned car
  14. more great info! thanks mic, my mechanics gonna love u for this!
  15. ziderapple - thanks, that's sealed it for me, g12+ it is :)
  16. "vwspares.co.uk" list g11 (febi brand) and that's what i've bought this week from them.......but as per Toads comment...antifreeze is antifreeze in my book too
  17. danvw/gruven - great info guys - got my mechanic looking into probs this coming friday (got a new stat- NOT FROM VW!!, seal, housings) .....little question about the colant fluid - g12+? handbook says g11?! is g12+ a later revision from g11? or is the g12+ vr6 specific? little confused, as my vr has blue coolant, not pink, and the head was rebuilt last july by a local specialist who has good corrado experience, so i'm a little surprised that he would put g11 in if g12+ is the right stuff....could this be part of the reason i'm seeing 100 degrees steady temp when she's warm? hmmmm...... ......and i noticed a post on here earlier in the week - a fella said g12+ was essential due to properties in it that prevent hardening of coolant pipes? anyone clear this up? cheers!
  18. bought a new vr6 knob from vag two weeks ago - £22 with the vat
  19. local meet is at thwaite, 3rd sunday of every month - google "dubsuffolk" not been yet, but signed up on the site - check it out
  20. hi james - shame about the alloys  coilovers look quality - really rate weitec! r.e. exhausts - got a magnex cat back system on mine - great quality, good price and not noisy at all (unless you're at full chat) - good fitting kit and a lifetime warranty makes these a great choice - p.m. me if you want to meet up and have a butchers at it, and check the sound effects for yourself - i'm really impressed with mine (although having had a supersprint system on my mk1 gti, i can tell you that these are quiet too, and the quality is superb - can't vouch for milltek, but seem a popular choice on here)
  21. thought i saw another 'rado in felixstowe....and that makes two of us now! (i think) here's a wheel link: they quote 5x100 pcd as well...thought about them myself and had the link saved!! sweet rims 8) sweet price http://www.wheel-base.co.uk/proddetail. ... 18&cat=158 red rear lights look good - i'd add tinted side repeaters, angeleyes (love 'em), 90mm splitter and a shorter beesting - got weitec ultra gt spring/shock kit on mine and can vouch for the quality/feel - great kits - coilovers will be awesome more than likely run into u sooner or later, this is mine:
  22. i bought a mk4 1.8t low temp apr sourced (i think) stat from awesome for my mk1 gti a few yrs back - i'll check their site, give them a bell tomorrow and let u know
  23. ....and the inpros are sealed - don't pop apart like the o.e. ones
  24. think i'll be giving dubpower a call this week for one of those 'stats....some nice products on that site
  25. yep...looks and feels like glass - my hat goes off to the pro detailers - it's serious effort and took me best part of 3 days as my arms/hands felt like they were gonna fall off
