  1. Quality link vwdeviant. Just sent it to my mate who is a farmer and who spends a lot of his time clearing out rivers, etc. after they've been. Someone nicked my dad's MG TF of his drive last night though. Feckers. He's gutted. Don't know if it was pikeys though, but surely nicking cars makes you a pikey?
  2. Hi, I moved to Leek in Staffordshire recently. It's a quiet, sleepy market town, but appears to be covered in wall-to-wall Dubs. I've seen two C's today, a Scirroco, and the number of sweetly done up Mk2 and 3 Golfs is ridiculous. Plus there's an insane number of Seats and Audis. Anyone on here from roundabout? Easily enough people to organise a mini-festival/get-together/piss-up. One C in particular was gorgeous. Blue, with crystal in-pros and Borbets I think (saw it from a distance)
  3. Come on! Or I'll have to don my blacksmith's outfit, and shoe my C like a pony (ie make something out of iron and then nail the fecker on...) Is it ok to buy an exhaust setup from ebay or will it not work (lambda sensor issues????)
  4. These are beautiful. But everyone I see driving them has their lights on during the day. I always think "tit" when I see that, but then I start dribbling over the car, and forgive them, which is even worse. Clearly my principles are easily bought...
  5. Would still love to spank a battered C round the fields. Surely, if all the people who are breaking them put in all the bits they can't sell (and are cluttering up valuable garage space), we might have enough to build a Forum Banger VR. Admittedly, we might need to get bits from other cars to make it work (front end from a Ford Transit, wheels from a steam engine and 4 pogo-sticks for suspension...)
  6. Where do you live Sonicriot13? Most of Suffolk? Once the team is up and running, we'll come down and take you on. And let me warn you now, my car will be powered by angry juice :bad-words:
  7. Like the sound of rear wheel drive. Any suggestions for a RWD banger that can be bought for £200?
  8. Hi, I've been looking into getting a car for track days, but clearly this is going to be ridiculously expensive. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=69126 I have a mate whose a farmer though, and I'm hoping to persuade him to join me and another mate in setting up our own (mostly comedy) rally series. Basically, just marking out different tracks in a field and then nailing it round in bangers. We're talking about setting ourselves a £200 buying limit (although more can be spent afterwards on "tuning") I don't think this is really feasible though. I'd love to get a battered Rado, so if anyone has a rusty old one lying around that they want to donate for some magic beans then let me know... Otherwise, have just done a search on autotrader and have found these: 1989 BMW 5 SERIES 535i 4dr Saloon, 3430 cc - £500 1992 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 1.8 GL 5dr Hatchback - £150 RENAULT Laguna 1.8 RN - £200 1997 P Reg FORD Escort 1.8 Si - £200 1994 RENAULT 19 RSi 5dr Hatchback - £350 Most of these appear to deserve being taken into a field and destroyed quite quickly. I'm wanting the power of the BMW, as the rest are a bit weedy, but no doubt replacement parts might be a pain to get. Does anyone have any experience of this type of thing? This will be a definite budget project. The plan is to strip them out, make them a bit safer (roll cages, fire extinguishers, etc.) then add ludicrously big wings being welded on for no good reason  Any repairs would be with parts from scrappies. Is getting these harder for particular makes, etc?
  9. Have been looking through this post and several others as have a problem with my exhaust. It's the original exhaust (95 2.0 16v), apart from last year, the cat went. I had this replaced at PSI Tuning, but this appears to have gone now. Andy is looking into it to see if it's still under warranty (it's just gone past 12 months). I recently had the back box and tail pipe replaced (stainless Powerflow). But now the middle box is going. ARSE! Silver Systems near me has quoted around £250 for a standard replacement middle box and cat and another bit (connecting pipe I think?) or £350 for a stainless set with sports cat. This is a lot of wonga, particularly after I've just shelled out for a new back box and tailpipe. There are secondhand ones on ebay though, which Silver Systems have offered to fit. What I wanted to know was, is it likely these will just fit on? Is there likely to be issues with the lambda sensors, etc? This is the sort of thing I've seen: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/_Car-Parts-Access ... 286.c0.m14 Cheers!
  10. Right, thanks for all the advice. Currently, I don't have enough money to be replacing tyres, pads, etc. etc. every five minutes, so I'm just going to stick to go-karting, and spend my hard earned cash on another vice (hard drugs, lap dancers, guns????) :norty:
  11. Get any further with this Mic? I'm interested (although my valver might not match your VR....)
  12. If I spent all the cashola doing up my C, I would want to regularly use it "in anger". What's the point of adding all that extra power if you don't thrash the tits off it, regularly? If you want a little runaround, don't pimp up your C! It looks a little scruffy on the inside. I'd want leather and a bit more for that much...
  13. Thanks gents. Not the news I was after though... :( Is there any other way of doing this? I spoke to a bloke over the road, and he said that by joining a drivers' club, you could bring the cost right down. He didn't know of any though for Corrados... How about an airport runway? Anyone know if you can get onto these for a spot of drag racing? Currently I only really measure my 0 - 60 on the start of the M6 toll. Anyone?
  14. Hi, A mate and I are looking at buying a battered C and turning it into a track car. I've been searching the net, and this seems like it's going to be very expensive though... All we really want is a bit of fun, thrashing a car round a track to try and beat each other's lap times, and race anyone else whose there on the day. I've looked at some circuits like this one: http://www.croftcircuit.co.uk/car.php Which is £169 (+ helmet hire) for a day. This seems pretty expensive when you can drive someone else's car (a Lambo or Aston) here for £79: https://www.driversdreamdays.co.uk/folder.asp?catid=52 I know you only get a few laps in the Lambo, but still... Anyone know a lo-fi track in the West Midlands where you can pay £20 and get a few laps in? If it's going to £169 each time, I'm not sure it'll happen (I won't have any money to sort the car out, buy a trailer, etc.) If not, I'll just have to start a street racing career...
  15. Going back to my comment about a track day though.... Anyone interested? Where is there a decent track that's not too dear? I drove a Formula Ford on a track (Three Sisters I think it was) which was fun, but the track wasn't really long enough, there weren't any huge straights. I know the fun is in the corners, but you want at least one big straight to give it some beans down. Any track recommendations?
  16. Don't know if anyone has seen this, did a search and nothing came up so: One modded French C nailing a Scooby. There's quite a few other Corrado vs. races on there which various Cs do well in (one vs an M3 where the Corrado gets spanked though....) Time for a Corrado Forum drag race event/track day? I've never taken mine on a track, but would love to. How about something at the Summer Scorcher (if there is one?)
  17. Welcome to the forum! If the mirrors don't work, bin them and get something smaller. Someone on here a while ago had some off a motorbike. They looked sweeeeet...
  18. Cheers fellas. Just need to get one of those tool sets now...
  19. Right! Thanks for the ideas. The £400 quote was for the bonnet and tops of the wings. The guy said they would need doing to to help blend the colour in. I don't really have £400 as I mentioned, but if I did get it together, I would rather get the extra £50 and get the carbon bonnet. My C is moonlight blue (very dark blue, looks black in certain lights). I know most modded VWs don't go down the carbon route, but my car could do with a diet, and I like the look of carbon (personal taste I know). So, I'll get on the phone and get some more quotes. I live in Staffordshire, so if anyone knows any good places (Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle, etc.) then let me know!
  20. About 18 months ago, my car died. The AA came out, and spotted that one of the HT leads had melted at the connector. I bought a new set and took it to a mate who helped me replace it (I was a completely novice back then. Whereas now, I'm in the total amateur league  ) It was only one of the cables that needed replacing, and his attitude was "The rest of these are pukka, if it's not broke, don't fix it". 18 months later, and there are still no problems, but I have a (nearly complete) set of new leads here, which I can't sell. Should I replace them, or just leave them be? Cheers.
  21. Right, some fecker has keyed my bonnet in two places, each about 6 inches long. I've already ranted about this on here, and had some sympathy and advice (cheers). Have looked at a re-spray, but appears to be around £400, which is pushing it. There's a post on here about carbon bonnets, possibly around the £450 mark, but not much is happening on that thread. So, am thinking of putting some carbon-effect wrap on the bonnet to protect it at least. I know that is very "chavved up corsa stylee", but it looks a mess now, and my own attempts at a respray aren't going to be good. Is this easy to do, will it leave bubbles, or will it just look shee-it? What are your thoughts? Need to hear them, including abuse (in case I need my head examining...)
  22. Mario Kart N64 - without doubt the greatest game ever. I played it so much I entered a higher state on consciousness, surpassing even Buddha. Golden skids around every corner, short-cuts galore, rear-fired green shells from range that could pick off a zit on Wario from a lap ahead, etc..... Not played the new one yet, as don't have a Wii. Will get one. Then the pain starts gentlemen (and ladies?). Be ready for the pain!!! In the words of the Great Wario "I'm a gonna win!"
  23. Aside from the rwd vs fwd, power, turbo, etc. issues, in a head-to-head I usually find it comes down to who has the most balls (or the least brains). I got absolutely nailed by a Ford Fiesta the other day. That was because he was prepared to do 90 down a totally bendy lane, straight past me on a blind corner at night. Chased him for a bit, but didn't really want to die so had to give up. Went home slightly shamed, but at least I'm alive...
  24. What was the final cost in the end then (if you don't mind me asking?!)
