  1. Was at a car boot sale (C's aren't the most suitable cars for this...) and this fella stared longingly at my C. Said he used to have one, but had to give it up when he had kids. I've got a two year old and a 2 month old. No plans to sell it as yet!
  2. Muchos Gracias Fellas. Really appreciate that. My engine has been trying to escape form under the bonnet for a little while now! Gear changing has been interesting... I bought the PDF from e-Bay. It's just a copy of one though - someone's obviously got a tidy line in copying them and flogging them for a fiver. Not that I can find it!
  3. My front mount has gone on my '95 2.0 16v C. After reading numerous different posts, I've gone for a Febi Bilstein hydraulic one. I also bought myself the Bentley manual as a PDF, which had the torque settings for the three bolts. Only now I can't find the manual!!! Also, as it's not a VW part, will the torque settings be different? Any help would be appreciated. Anyone got the page from the PDF they could post? I'm looking to change it tomorrow morning...
  4. Like the sound of these too. Keep us posted on the thread if you can...
  5. Try Duncan at DJ Auto Electrical Ltd.He's worked on my valver when everyone else failed, and it runs very very sweetly now. No courtesy car though... Number: 01782 374131
  6. I've found a garage that are masters at fixing weird stuff. My Valver has run very strangely for a while, and numerous trips to several garages, large bills, new parts (including an ECU - ouch!), didn't fix it. Another garage recommended a mechanic called Duncan who runs DJ Auto Electrical Ltd. just outside Barlaston in Staffordshire. They said that the BMW and Mercedes main dealers sent their cars to him when they couldn't fix them. I drove down there, and despite the garage being low-key, there was a healthy number of very expensive cars parked outside waiting to be fixed. Anyway, Duncan seemed to know about the engine in my Valver, and has fixed it up a treat. There were numerous wiring problems which other garages had missed. He also tuned it, and now it runs like a BEAST!!! Just thought I'd stick this on here, as a lot of people with Valvers seem to have dodgy running problems - if all else fails - take it to Duncan. His number is 01782 374 131.
  7. Looks good. Did you get it off eBay? How much was it to ship over?
  8. Was chatting with some folks about this at the Summer Scorcher. Vaguely remember Karl saying you could pick up an engine for a few magic beans, and put it in yourself. The expensive bit was getting it all connected, particularly the computer, etc. Was surprised how cheap this sounded though. My 2.0 16v just doesn't have the pace I need!!!
  9. Do I really need all that space in the back of my C? Maybe I could squeeze that Bentley engine in there...
  10. Good point Dinkus. I do want to take my C to Europe however. I'm thinking Germany. Autobahns. Can't see them limiting cars to 100mph there though  At least I hope not.
  11. I reckon the post him a turd idea was better. Or some anthrax. That's only if you want to get seriously militant on his ass. John Law will be onto you mind...
  12. Yes... But when these babies hit 88 mile per hour, your gonna see some serios sh1t... Would stick with my C,but if I could get a hover conversion on my Rado, then that would be sweet. Roads? Where we're going, we don't need... roads.
  13. Chavalicious! Good to see someone doing something different I guess (most of the cars at the Summer Schorcher were a tad similar - with good reason I know). But I'm not sure rebranding the car the VW Dwayne was a good move. It would be expensive to run. I mean, just the cost of shellsuits, Burberry socks and La Coste trainers would push me into the red, before I even started on the car :?
  14. My mum had several Jettas. She was in a serious crash in one. Someone hit her and her car did a forward+sideways somersault in the air, and landed back on it's wheels. All the glass had fallen out or dropped into the doors so it didn't break on her. She walked away without a scratch. Great cars. So don't be afraid to drop a real JETta engine in it and give it some power...
  15. WHAT is that? Doesn't seem to resemble the prototype at all. Looks like a Golf Plus. Does not look like the sort of car you can tailgate Porsches in. If you are reading this Meeester VW, sort it out. Give the people what they want. Then we will buy your cars. Otherwise we will have to keep ripping engines out of your new cars to put in your old cars, which won't make you anywhere near as much money...
  16. Looks like sex. And not just any old sex with any old lady :icecream:
  17. Ah yes... Try this for a handbrake cover: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/vw-corrado-vr6-2- ... dZViewItem Need to be quick - 37 minutes remaining! The brothel look could work. You just need some red lighting and some "ladies of the night" in the back...
  18. Very tidy. Are you doing the handbrake, gear gaiter, sun visors, etc?
  19. Cheers mate. So if my engine falls out, I'll direct the insurance claim to you... Just kidding! It's been knackered for a bit. I just didn't realise. I thought my gear changing had just gone a bit crap. Will be getting it fixed next week.
  20. Car still playing up. Battery light keeps flickering, and it keeps stalling at low revs. Searched on here about this, and read about getting the alternator tested. Took this to a garage today, and the battery and alternator are fine. Bit of a head scratcher this one. The garage said for electrical problems like this there was only one place they ever send cars to, so I got the name and number and trundled up there. The bloke there really seemed to know what he was talking about in terms of Corrados. Have booked it in for Monday for him to sort (hopefully). He said a lot of interesting things like not to adjust the flow metering head (which I've seen some garages do...) I can't remember a lot of what he said, it was a lot to take in, but the test will be on Monday I guess.
  21. Thanks for the tips. really want to have a go at this myself, even though it's a cheap job for a garage to do. Most of the stuff that's gone wrong on my C so far has been big stuff that I can't do, and I'm itching to get under the bonnet with some spanners... Is it safe for me to drive around with the front mount knackered? I've been driving super smooth so the engine doesn't jump around too much. Want to go to the Corrado Summer Scorcher on Saturday, and won't be able to fis the mount before then as I'm waiting for the new part to arrive. It's an hour and a half journey according to Multi-Map, mostly motorways. Any ideas?
  22. Cheers mate. Just to clarify - I place the jack under the sump, with a block of wood on top, and then jack this up, and this will be ok to support the weight of the engine whilst I replace the mount? No need for axle stands then..? Thanks for the picture. Have ordered a copy of the Bentley manual in PDF myself. Waiting for it to arrive!
  23. Have been searching lots of posts about replacing the front engine mount. This one is the most relevant (for a valver), but I need a bit more help! I've got a 2.0 16v, and it's the front engine mount by the oil filter that's gone. Andy at PSI said he could get a new one for about £30 I think it was (for a hydraulic one), and half an hours labour, so around about £60 I think. I reckon this is something I can do myself though... So - is this correct? 1. Jack up the engine (where do I place the jack, axle stands???) 2. remove the engine mount 3. replace it, lower the car Seems too easy! Any help greatly appreciated - I don't want to jack the engine up in the wrong place though and screw it up. Also, I read on another thread that I might have to remove a few other things (lights, etc.) to get at it, but that was on a VR. Not sure if it's the same on a valver... Cheers.
  24. Some joker had obviously had a problem with the ECU in the past, and had hard-wired the fuel pump into the indicators. PSI have sorted out the wires, but it's needed a new (second-hand) ECU. Over £300 in total with labout and VAT. Ouch. The mrs was not happy...
  25. Good luck with the project mate. I come to Derby sometimes so might pass you... In terms of your dodgy idle, check this out: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58758&hilit= It seems to be a common problem on the valvers.
