If plugs are getting oiled then it does point to either stem seals or piston rings. With good comp tests that should rule out the piston rings so looks like stem seals. Not sure on the breather system on a 16v so cant help there.

Well Ive just ordered some more wrap and some Silicone spray. £65 against some of the prices Im seeing sounds good to me.

Fook me this things trying my patience. Got a call from the fab shop doing the downpipe to say it might be a little more difficult and asked me to double check my dims. :brickwall: Thought about measuring all axis but knowing my luck at the moment it would be out when changed so with bloodied knuckles I squeezed and fooked my back getting the whole manifold out. God that was a job, I just hope I remember how it all goes back together now!!! Dont get a better (or more expensive) jig than this. Lets hope they take care with it. Some of the wraps a bit damaged so that more stuff to order, beans on toast for me this month. :(
-
I'll clean up the wrap then and get it ready to go on again  . Im guessing there motorsport exclusive then.
-
Let me know how much as Ive currently got the downpipe off.
-
Theres arguments for and against but the main one for me is limiting the heat in the engine bay on the other components in and around the manifold.
-
Did you get the head properly checked after you set it down?
-
Only when they work, :( .

Impressive figures. Whole car looks very good.

Thats the fange Ive ordered. Its more a case of juggling a pot than just spending willy nilly. I do make sacrifices but as said you have to enjoy it while you can. Krakow was amazing. Lovely city and even lovelier women :norty: . Id recomend it to anyone. Managed to get a shot of a Glock 9mm, AK-47, PPSH and some other sub machine gun. On a polar opposite I will add is if you go make time to visit Aushwitz and Berkinau. Its really somber but a must. Humans really are our own worst enemy.

Seems a day does make a difference. Managed to get enough room to get an allen key in and using an extended socket and handle I got the bolts out. Took a bit of wiggling with the probe still attached but its out  . Just need someone to adjust it now. Got the turbo mounted up and figured out the lines. Another £80 odd quid on fittings. Anybody know the oil return flange bolt spec so I can get some of them ordered? Decided to get myself another road bike at the weekend as I was missing it too much so bought another one today. It was a total bargin and yes it is really that green. Ones of these days I'll save some money but hey you cant take it with you!!! 4 day stag do in Krakow from tomorrow to take my mind of cars and bikes :gag:

Good job there.

Tried this briefly last night but there didnt seem to be room. Will try it again tonight.

Thats good to know. Didnt want to start getting bolts out and find it didnt come out. Just replied in my other thread, Im just getting hacked of at work and other things so this isnt helping my mood. Maybe a wee break would be good.
-
Still have to get the other bolts out do I not? Thought about the irwins. Maybe grind down the allen key socket. Plan was to get the downpipe cut and rewelded.
-
Ok needing to get some allen head bolts out as circled in the photo below. I cannot get a socket allen key in as its too close to the downpipe, tried getting allen key in as well but lower bolt sits at too much of an angle. Any suggestions on what I could do? Only thing I can see is extended allen key socket then some universal joints back to a socket wrench.

Well if I cant get the turbo housing changed that might be a while as Im starting to loose patinence. Amazing what a little £40 oil line can do :censored: .

Some photos of the new stuff. Old Turbo Vs new and some bloody expensive fittings to go along with it. Bought some heat sheilding as well to form over the turbo and they sent a bag of Haribo sweets with it   . Anyhoo turned the exhaust housing round to match my manifold and attempted to put it on. TBH as soon as I looked at old vs new I knew it wouldnt fit and it didnt. The V-banding on the new one sticks out about 12mm further than the old one :( . I was going to take the downpipe off but I cannot get into the bolts to take the wastegate section off. Next option was to get the whole manifold off but I dont think it will come out car with engine in situ so it looks like engine out to try and get the manifold off. I'll be honest Im getting hacked off not being able to use the car so Im not doing that right now. Going to speak to GT3 tomorrow to see how the turbine housing is made as they mentioned having to get the V-banding put on so Im wondering if they can either replace the current housing with one with the V-banding further in or I might just buy another XS power one, run it till winter then take my time over the winter getting the engine out to get the Garrett fitted.

Difficult one. 4mo turbo would be brilliant as long as the chassis is sorted as well, perfect Q car. Mk5 is a nicer car to drive and as you say bit more modern. TBH my head says Mk5 but heart says Mk4.
-
Turbo's here  . Will need to turn the exhaust housing round though. Will trial fit tonight.
-
Foook me  ,thats a fair kick in the nuts.
-
Tempted to get one of these as no ones going to steal a car they cannot steer.
-
Currently Mobil 0w-40. There is a temp gauge monitoring before and after IC already plumbed in. Bloody hot up here today but Ive just heard some thunder  .
-
Yeah I do like the stock look and TBH putting the plate back to the OE position didnt seem to effect cooling. They should provide some real cool air into the engine bay though. No turbo till monday now :( . Im like an expectant father for this little turbine to appear.
