  1. I average 50mpg in mine and Ive regulary seen 62-63mpg on the motorway when sitting at a about 70mph. It does 45mpg at a constant 90mph!!! This is all MFA readings though, Ive yet to back it up with simple fuel distance calcs.
  2. Bloody hell youve kept the conversion quiet. Brentacre I was just under £500 fully comp with value at £5k, 6kmiles a year.
  3. All of which can be fixed for less than £100. Start crying when you break one part that costs 10 times that.... :( Its all relative mate.
  4. Whats wrong with the one thats on it? I wouldnt change it unless you have to as I dont think there have been too many people happy with the fit on the Corrado.
  5. Nice, good choice. There getting popular right now.
  6. It does sound they are not perfectly central. Not a huge fan of spacers either. You can take some material of the calipers but not a lot.
  7. I'll wait and see what the Mk4's MOT uncovers tomorrow but TBH I think Im asking for trouble with my run of luck at the moment. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll happily take a look at the car.
  8. Id be more inclinced to think otherwise myself though. Especially if its a local car as its very hard to avoid getting the brown stuff up here on something that old. Seen a few local guys with Mk2's that appear fine but they have soon found them to be quite bad one you start proding. I'll go have a look but Im probably 90% not going to buy and I did say to the guy I was hoping it was a 16v but he didnt mind me just coming for a look. If its solid enough I can get the charger done for about £400 it seems so that could be a solid G60 for less than £1500. (who am I kidding!! )
  9. Mk3's are alright but they rust like a mofo from what Ive seen especailly sills and tailgate but then thats up here with all the salt etc in the winter. Cost wise they are pretty cheap but early Mk4's are maybe getting close to them price wise and they are a far better daily car.
  10. Sold my motocross bike at the weekend and wasnt sure what to do with the money i.e. bank it, house stuff, bike stuff or car stuff. Ive seen a few cheaper Mk2 Golfs however I bought the local Steal and Sell paper and saw an advert for a 1990 Corrado in good condition at a cheap price. Rang up and its a G60, dark blue with about 170kmiles on it and apparently has no rust on it all all with good bodywork. Due to the cars age Ive had an insurance quote of £170 fully comp for the year!!! Im guessing the charger wont have been done but is it worth it or am I just getting myself into a whole lot of hassle with that sory of mileage on the G60? Ive had a G60 years ago but dont really know engine wise what to look for other than the charger. I spoke to the sellers dad (its his daughters car) and he sounded like a decent guy. Im thinking of looking at it but I know I cant help myself if its in decent shape. Anyone intersted if I dont buy it? Its up near Aberdeen and when I say cheap it will be sub £1k.
  11. This is the perfect Mk2 combo in my eye with the G60 and BBM paint. I would try and swap out the trim back to standard though, colour coded doesnt look quite right.
  12. If you want to space out the back best way is to use stub axle spacers, theres a guy on clubgti doing them fairly cheap. Keep the bearings from getting stressed more than they need. Wheels look good although if it were me the gold would be long gone.
  13. Lovely car, I know the feeling. Many a time Im just like why the hell do I bother. You always come back to it though. Would be a shame to let it go after your hard work but there is a young lad looking for one up in my area so I'll be keeping an eye on the classifieds.
  14. Nothing worse than a manky front flange..... :norty:
  15. Random thought but is track distance not taken from hub mounting points and not outer edge of the wheels? If thats the case the rear beams are the same.
  16. Yeah but you have to ask yourself whats damage could be going on. The noises like described dont sound like light rubbing. Get the caliper of and inspect the pads and handbrake mech for any signs of rubbing / damage first.
  17. Yer mad, ones bad enough to look after!!!
  18. Wheels look so much better, woudlnt be able to tell theve been done.
  19. I was wrong about those wheels, they do work well on the Corrado.
  20. I remember there was a discussion about Holset Turbos before. When speaking to the guys at AET today I asked what they were like. The guys response wasnt to great. He said they are perfect for diesel applications however for the hotter petrol applications they do not last. A brand that they mentioned to be good was Borg Worner.
  21. Looking to maybe fit one of the short round silencer boxes (in link) to my exhaust to take the edge of the noise as its quite loud at low rpms at the moment. http://www.jetex.co.uk/website/custo...s&dia=3.0+inch Is this likely to make a difference or should I be looking at the longer one? Its currently 3in bore with single rear silencer and no cat. Plan is to get a high flow cat in there at some point as well which will also help take the edge of it. Too many dissapproving looks from the fairer sex for the noise at the moment  :norty: .
  22. How can you take all day to do that!!! Takes me 5min.
  23. I'd be surprised if that was the case, rather embarrassingly before the first time I went to the 'Ring I spent a few nights driving around in my girlfriends Pug 306 wearing my helmet to get used to it, never got pulled over but got some very very strange looks. Funny how few people try and race you out the lights when your wearing a crash helmet :) I think it is illegal for the helmet thing. Id fit foam to the bars around the drivers section.
