  1. How foolish of me, why did I ever think plastic would be better than metal :(
  2. I'm using the VW Synta Quantum Silver 10w40 oil, which is what my local VW independant specialist uses. It takes 10 months or so the foul the plugs up so Im not too worried. The car has done 120k miles and has a full service history so Im suprised it has any problems like this, I've had Vauxhalls with 150k on that never used any oil and the plugs could last 18k miles, even then they were only changed because it was recomended in the manual. 3. My VR6 started to run a bit rough again, and the plug on cylinder 1 was really in a bad state. So I cleaned it with a spark plug cleaner and it runs fine again now. Last summer about the same time of year it happened on bosch plugs, but at the 12 month service I had NGKs put in. It's taken 10 months and 5000 miles for it to get in the same state again. I've heard of other people's VR6s fouling plugs on cylinders 1 and 6 and I was thinking some time in the future a head re-build might be in order, but as the car runs fine again now I probably wont be doing that for a bit. Unless anyone has found a better cure for this problem. Heres an interesting Haynes style spark plug photo anyway of the dirtiest spark plug I've seen for a bit. Cheers Ady p.s. oh yeah and the plastic HT lead removal tool is a bit naff, I defended them in the past, but it broke today so I'm going to get one of the metal ones.
  4. I guy in a 530d had a go the other week, I eventually managed to out accelerate him and get in front but it was very hard work. It was a new shape 5 series that kicks out 225bhp so they are quick. Ady
  5. Yeah I used to be a driver for Pizza Expresso when I was a student ( I had a knackered old Cavalier then, I didn't use a VR6 for pizza delivery), but my parents still live in Evington. I live over the Westend now, but quite often pass through Oadby. Ady
  6. Is that in Oadby by any chance? I seen a nice low aqua blue VR6 parked there the other week and I wanted to park next to it but there were no spaces as usual. Ady

    New rubber!

I got there about 10am and was on the way home by 11, so it wasn't too bad, and at least they had a coffee machine. Yeah the cheapest I could get F1s in Leicestershire was £80 each, and that was in Loughborough, so I didn't mind the drive down the M69, always fun. Cheers Ady
  8. The rear suspension went really sloppy on my C and I assumed it was rear bushes from the way it was wobbling over bumps. It got really bad, and there was a knocking noise as well from the rear, which I thought was the exhaust. Anyway, put it into Lion garage in Leicester only to find someone in the past had replaced one of the rear shocks with a Monroe oil filled one which had exploding spilling oil everywhere. So, I had both the rear shocks, oil filled and original gas on the other side replaced with 2 new red standard shocks and the car handles spot on now. The knocking noise has gone as well, so in the last 18 months of owning the car I have been driving round with the wrong shock! Cheers Ady

    New rubber!

I went to Britannia Tyres in Coventry and got 4 Eagle F1s yesterday. It came to £65 a tyre for 205 50 R15s in the GS-D2 pattern, £20 more than each for an extra 10mm width! They were still loads cheaper than any where else I could find though. I just tried them in the rain and I'm pretty pleased with them, but I will give them a better road test in due course. Cheers Ady
  10. Yeah it was 7 years ago, and apparently Cavaliers are still one of the most nicked cars. Ady
  11. His design looks like my old Cavalier that got nicked years ago Ady

    New rubber!

Cheers. I will give them a bell next week. I was going to go to mytyres.co.uk, but these sound even cheaper. Ady

    New rubber!

£44 a corner is an absolute bargin! I asked in a couple of places, one being Kwik Fit, and they wanted £93 each for 205 50 15s, and thats for F1 GS-D2s cos I cant find the GS-D3s in 205 size. Where abouts did you get the tyres? I'm only in Leicester so to save £200 I would make the 20 minute drive down the M69 to Cov. Cheers Ady
  14. Here it is in action. I love that reg plate
  15. I always wanted an Audi Quattro Turbo UR like that, and I did consider a 944 S2 as an alternative to a VR6 when i was looking for a Corrado. Do you prefer your Corrado over all your previous motors? I would be interested to see how they compare to a Corrado Cheers Ady
  16. That happened to mine about 6 months ago and it was the plugs, they had got all oiled up on cylinders 1 and 6. I changed them for standard NGKs and it's been fine since. Cheers Ady
  17. That is a very rare sight, I was in Paphos in Cyprus in October and didn't see a single one. Very few VWs out there, everyone seems to have seroiusly tuned up Imprezas, Lancer Evos, Honda Type Rs, Skylines and they are not afraid to thrash them either. Ady
  18. Yeah I started with 3D stuff at uni on an architecture course, still do a bit at work, but cars are a lot more difficult to draw than buildings beacuse it's so hard to get the curves of the wings, bonnet, roof to look right. It took months on and off to draw that Integrale, but I was learning patch modelling in 3D max at the same time, not to mention photoshop for the textures. Cheers Ady

    Which Tyres?

Cheers kevhaywire, reckon I'm going to go for F1s, I don't do many miles a year and I've been having the bikers at work hassle me all afternoon about the importance of quality rubber sticking you to the road. Ady
  20. I did my Integrale that way, tracing patches over photos and drawings in max. But I'm going to use NURBS in Max 5 for my Corrado model cos you can get better surface curves (I think). Anyway still early days.... look forward to the thread on your progress. Heres one I made earlier, well still working on really, not happy with it yet and the images are low res. Cheers Ady
  21. Best way is to go out to your car with a tape measure and do a proper measured survey, can't get more accurate than that. I'm not into programming though, I can't get my head round that, I'm just into 3d visuals and renders with 3d Max. Cheers Ady
  22. Chris, I was in the process of setting up a 3D model of a Corrado, early days so far, but I have done a Lancia Delta HF Integrale in 3D Max 4 with Martini paintwork. I would be interested to know if anyone else into CAD or 3D software has attemped to make a Corrado yet, or does everyone just draw Audi TTs? Cheers Ady

    Which Tyres?

How many miles do you reckon you get out of a pair of F1s on the front of a VR6, do they really wear out that fast? I'm looking to get some as I need better traction on the front. I've got some Nankangs on at the moment and they are hopeless. I got beaten by an MR2 off the lights the other day cos I couldn't get the power down. Cheers Ady
  24. I've got a K&N 57i kit on mine, I was originally going to get a Ramair but I picked up the K&N off ebay instead. It's not as loud as I was expecting, because the guy was selling it due to his gilfriend not liking the noise, but it still sounds really good. It's quiet when cruising, but when accelerating it makes the VR6 roar even more. As for increased power, I don't think it makes much of an increase, but the throttle response seems better and the car revs a bit more freely. I'm going to get a magnex exhaust soon though to go with it. Cheers Ady
