  1. I've always been told that supermarket petrol is to be avoided, not sure how true that is, but I've got a couple of BPs close to my house, and a Shell the other side of town so I just use them.
  2. Well just had a look at this, and I can't get the handbrake handle off! I can see the plastic "noggin" but it doesn't budge any way I push/pull it, and I don't really want to break it off. Does it come up, down, towards the front of the car or the back of the car? Daft questions ahoy! There'll be plenty of these I think. :D
  3. Ah it's definitely late spec then! Cheers for that!
  4. Sounds excellent. I have a suspicion that my G60 has a late-spec bonnet, once i've determined this I'll definitely be in touch with Steve to see if he's still honouring the Corrado forum discount! Cheers!
  5. My G60 has no under bonnet foam at all - exactly how much difference does this stuff make, particularly from inside the car? I wouldn't mind it being a bit of a quieter drive so if it helps with that then game on. Any other benefits from using it?
  6. Just paid 108.9 for Super Unleaded. This made baby Jesus cry.
  7. Yep I can see that screw, it's not screwed into anything as far as I can see! I'll have to remove the whole thing and check underneath next time I get some daylight to work in. Cheers fella...!
  8. I've ordered one of these from VAG, be warned it's taken them over a week to get hold of one!
  9. Hi guys, You know the central plastic tunnel, the one between the two front seats from which the handbrake protrudes - mine isn't fixed to anything and creaks and rattles in a very annoying manner. Can anyone tell me how it's supposed to be fitted? Oddly there's nothing in the Bentley manual about it. Cheers!
  10. Damnit, you're absolutely right! So this just means I've messed up my fog light adjusting screw - no great loss. Indicator bulb now replaced! Yay! Thanks Dan, and the rest of you who were blatantly right in the first place... :D
  11. Now that would be a great idea, if I had a dremel! Must put one on my shopping list. Plus, the hole is really deep so I can't see how I'd get a cutting blade into it. Off to see my dad and his clever mechanic neighbour tomorrow, hoping one of the two will have a solution! What a pain in the arse!
  12. This one definitely has a screw in it! Although I know what you mean, I've seen 16vs without. Will I have to drill it out? Take the bumper off and unscrew it from the back with pliers??? Totally at a loss, and although it's a daft thing, you wouldn't believe how unsafe you feel driving around with no left indicator!
  13. Ha ha wicked! He's got a point though hasn't he? We'd all be driving Mondeo TDIs or Polo Bluemotions if fuel economy was our prime concern...
  14. Ha ha - excellent! God I love you guys... I'm always sceptical when some random grease monkey says "hey mate, you know your cars shagged don't you?". My trusted mechanic didn't mention the clutch at all, but the car's going back in to see him in a week or two for new drilled & grooved discs, pads, couple of brake hoses, brake fluid, crank bolt and possibly cambelt. If the clutch uses the same fluid as the brake system, it's likely he'll spot and fix the clutch problem too. I will say though, driving into the wheel alignment place (it's actually in a Skoda dealership, oddly) got my first official chuftie - salesman stopped me and started quizzing me about the C! Slight blip in anotherwise stressful and expensive day!
  15. Just to top off a legendary day a week into my Corrado ownership - indicator bulb has gone on the front passenger side. No problem, thinks I - got loads of spare bulbs. The screw was obviously rusted in and before I knew it, I've stripped the cross-head off the screw. What a numpty. I'm going to soak it in WD40 (should maybe have done this before trying it the first time) and try again in the morning, but if I really can't get the screw out, what can I do? Obviously I can't really drive it very long with no front indicator. As I say - Nuts.
  16. Just bought my first C- 1991 G60 and I'm currently in the fun process of fixing everything that's wrong with it :( Getting pretty depressed but that's by the by. The bite point on the clutch is very low - chappie at the wheel alignment place said I'd need a new clutch, is this likely? Similar problem on my Golf GTI was sorted with a new clutch cable but I understand the Corrado has a hydraulic clutch? Would really appreciate some advice! Cheers!
  17. Yeah the Golf will take £50 of V-Power, filling the G60 up from one notch left on the dial was about £30.
  18. Got 36.2 out of mine driving back from Derby when I bought it. Slightly OT, but how piddly is the G60 fuel tank?? I can get about 330miles out of my Mk2 Golf between fill ups, at a similar MPG.
  19. Ha ha yeah, well it's the job that's paying for the Corrado! :D
  20. Yeah it's a shame but I'm not going to enjoy the car if I hear a sickening scrape every time I go over a speedbump. Believe it or not, I have to go over 20 of the f*cking things every day just to get to work and back (I counted!). It'll still be lower than standard ride-height but hopefully a bit more practical as it's gonna be my daily!
  21. Can anyone describe to me how a leather handbrake gaiter is fitted to a 1991 G60? Just ordered one as mine currently has none, but I've also seen a hard plastic handbrake cover on ebay so I'm a bit confused as to how/if the leather one will fit. If anyone's got any pics of their handbrake (and let's face it why wouldn't you?) can they please post them? Cheers!
  22. Yeah it's going in to see my mechanic tomorrow and he assures me they'll be no problem! Sadly it's going uppity up up as I can't actually drive it around my estate in it's current stance!
  23. Yup, mucking around with mine today discovered that the 12 CD changer in the boot had no cartridge in it, and was full of dust (removed!), the amp wasn't wired up to anything (removed!) and the car actually has two alarms in, only one of which actually works. Isn't buying a new car fun???
  24. OK really stupid question - where is the switch on a 1991 G60?? Not had much of a chance to see the interior of my new C since I got it home on sunday and it wasn't immediately obvious!
