  1. i got a little bosch palm sander (GSS 140A)- clip some wet and dry paper on the bottom and away you go- old paint flatted in minutes. The bearings on the foot are good enough to even flat down new paint after spraying- put 2000 grit on it and its gentle enough to just take off any orange peel left after spraying. Quality tool :D well worth the £45 i paid on ebay, and bosch even sent me a new one when it got knocked off the table and a clip broke.
  2. think the center bore on the mini wheels is slightly too small- to get them to fit youd have to machine off a mm or so from the inside of the wheel. also think the offset is up around 45-50 so would need spacers on the hub i expect. would look cool though i expect . . .
  3. :) thats one of the reasons why the matrixes fail so often, cos theyre always under full engine coolant pressure. mine went bang (or hiss lol) in the passat on a nice sunny day last summer
  4. wouldnt make any different in a rado as theres always coolant flowing round the matrix, all the heater control does is move a flap in the heater air box that makes air blow through the matrix
  5. have you tried checking the operation of the switch with a mutlimeter? mine were dead (although the heaters worked) but there was power to the switch. i took the switch apart carefully buy prising open the clips on the side, and theres a copper clad PCB inside that was completely green with oxidisation. I took the PCB out and cleaned it all up with metal polish and put it back together works fine now. be really carefull tho as theres these tiny ball bearing things held in by springs that try to fall out, although theyre kinda held in by the switch grease inside the switch so if you keep the casing the right way up you should be ok.
  6. hi there, can i ask a favour? could someone measure up their front splitter? Im putting a B4 bumper on a B3 Passat, and the B4 splitter looks lame so im trying to work out what else will fit on it. The Vr6 golf splitter is slightly too short so you either get a gap at the front or a gap at the sides. The mk1 Toledo 16v might fit, but i was wondering about the Rado one too. If someone could measure the width at the front, and the length of the bits of the sides in front of the wheel it would be much appreciated :thumb right:
  7. when i did this to the resistor pack on my passat b3, (same part looking at the pictures) i used some of that nylon covered screw-in terminal strip stuff. i cut away the nylon covering so i was left with just the brass inner, arranged the thermal fuse and wires from the old fuse and tightened up the screws- saves potentially blowing the new fuse and is much easier to replace if it goes again :)
