  3. Nope, the car doesn't have a calibrated pressure sensor connected to the ECU. The main pressure sensor is too coarse, too, and it's just wired to the red light on the dash ..
  4. Late cars have taller suspension than earlier ones. Which is not good, because they have the same jack as early ones, and it won't lift the sodding front wheels off the sodding ground. Grrrr...

    No, I think most people who get this fault wind up replacing the ABS pump unit.
  6. The springs sag slightly over time, and the top mounts compress too, so yes it probably is a good few mm lower than originally...
  7. Given that this is a suspension information thread, here's information about the OE suspension on the Corrado range (what I can remember, anyway). OE manufacturer for shocks was Boge (a.k.a. SACHS). Early cars all came with simple oil filled shocks, later cars (maybe) and VRs (definitely) came with gas-over-oil shocks. GSF sell the gas-over-oil ones for good prices (though still 3x the factory cost!) and they're branded either Boge Turbogas or SACHS Advantage. You can tell the gas ones because they spring back of their own accord. Gas ones can be happily fitted to any car without issues. Don't know too much about the VW springs, but I know there's lots of different ones, and they're distinguished by coloured dots at the base of the spring coils.

  9. Then the sensors aren't fine are they? Either that or the ECU is not working right. It seems that the intake air temp sensor is fubar. There are several temperature sensors on the VR6.. One is on the inlet manifold, iirc.

  12. The ECU reset just forces the thing to run a bit rich for a while. As soon as it adapts back down to efficient running, any weaknesses in the system will become apparent with roughness and stalling .. The ECU reset fixes nothing.

    There's a reason they always throw sand onto oil spills on the roads you know ... It's not just to improve grip, it soaks the oil up off the surface too.
  14. I think they can tell .. I mean, the car might just pass, or even comfortably pass the emissions test without a cat, but with a correctly functioning cat they will walk it by a large margin.
  15. This may be true, but I'd argue it's open to interpretation and some testers may simply insist .. Talking of Henny, he's been pretty quiet of late, what's he up to?
  16. K implies production after August 1992, which means that yes you need a cat. But they are supposed to test the car based on the approximate age of the engine you have fitted, and your R32 is *definitely* new enough to need cats.
  17. Error needs to be deleted. Don't know about the physical sensor fit issue though, sorry ..
  18. Could also be MAF, lambda or engine temp sensors or something else. Many things can effect the fuelling. Need to get it scanned to start diagnosing properly.
  19. Tyre pressure: "the right amount". Too little and your tyres will wear on the edges, too much and they'll wear in the centre. Most people just use the pressures in the handbook for your model of C. Tyres: there's a biiiig tyre thread with that sort of information in. All I'll say is you generally get what you pay for ..

    Think the cages are separate parts, but I could be wrong ...
  23. How old is your brake fluid? If it's over 12 months and you've had fade that bad it's time to swap it.

    Most common reason for rear ABS sensor-related problems is the ABS cages that are supposed to be fitted and rotate with the wheel. They get corroded and battered and bent, or even worse.. Particularly when the fault is "mechanical" in VAG-COM. And yeah, 205bhp is more like it, but 200lbft is still pretty optimisitic for a standard VR .. :) Whatever! :)
