you should really get some kind of cooling on there it makes quite a difference, i helped a friend fit aquamist to his V9 charger and it does not loose power now after long hot runs.
-
cheers, im not worried bout the MOT as like you said if its not there it cant fail. prob need to remove the bias valve under the rear axle to and replace with bias valve from some one like willwood for instance. i just wanna be really sure before i remove it all as one the bay has been painted after i finish smoothing there is no going back. :help:
-
cool cheers for that. there must be more people on here with corrado's or golfs that have removed the ABS?
-
hi i was after some advice on removing my complete ABS system as i am smoothing the engine bay, hidding the loom but also adding a big turbo so question is has many people removed their ABS system and how are you people coping with locking up and pedal feel? i have 312mm TT front brakes and 280mm rear brakes. any input would be a great help as it would free up space and look less cluttered. cheers

if there is a few people needing the 6mm spacer plate i can prob get some made as iv had a couple of sets made recently for friends so let me know and ill find out a price.

love the look of your bay you done really well, are you going gti international as it would be nice to have a look a it in the flesh as in halfway through doing my smooth bay but im keeping the shuttle as thats where most of my loom is running. -
hi, there is no need to canilolise a corrado loom but you will either need to buy a couple of plugs from VW which will only cost a few pounds this is for the aux water pump and i think its the sinal wire. i will have a look at mine over the weekend or early next week when im down my workshop next to see what plug part numbers you will need. for any one that wants links to help on this convertion and wiring diagrams let me know your e-mail and ill try send them over.

cheers, i got the intercooler from wiltec in germany and at a very good price. as for the bumper i have had to remove the tow eye hook and had to cut a section out of the metal beam that runs behind where the number plate normaly sits and iv had to remove the other tow eye that was welded to the chassis leg but other than that the bumper slides on ok with a good amount of space all round for air flow. i didnt want to cut any of the actual plastic bumper away as it took me a while to get my US spec one. oh and i had to cut the lower drivers side rad mount and mount it about 25mm back.

cheers for that, yes i love black cars i had a black mk2 golf before this corrado and 2 more black cars before the mk2. engine bay did look good but not quite like that now but the final out come will be worth the wait hopfuly. this is how the bay looks now:
-
well i have just nearly finished my OBD2 conversion iv had the car up and running and everything seems ok, iv run VAG-COM and that seems to talk to it but by no means is it a plug and play conversion but then i did remove all the unessesary plugs n cables. Now all i have to do is remove the loom and tape it all up ready to run through the scuttle and chassis legs. not long an ill have my turbo fitted
-
cheers, it will look a lot less cluttered soon as im in the middle of stripping and smoothing the bay so battery and washer bottle going in the boot and loom will be hidden as much as posibble.
-
I used the lambda from the Golf, as it is different to the early Corrado VRs. Im not sure about the later 95 on though, check with etka. Tips, well, I would get the Golfs wiring diagrams as there a few more plugs that are part of the engine loom, like headlights etc, which will need disconnecting. The loom should plug straight into the Corrado fusebox, no problem. It depends on how far you want to go with the neatness of it. I removed all the unused loom, which as long as you cross reference to the Corrado loom, and the diagrams, It was well worth it! Good luck with the conversion, you wont regret carrying it out, its really worth the time and effort! :) hi there im in the middle of try to convert mine to obd2 and was looking at your loom and see you had removed all the rad fan control part of the loom ie : fan plug, thermostat switch? also does your aux water pump run as normal? thanks
-
Thanks to all for the positive feed back, im really happy with the way the car is coming along. as for the engine covers i did the VR6 DOHC cover myself and i got one of my pals to do the HT lead holders as he works at a paint shop. vwdeviant - i live in the braintree area. and yes that was my car in the hanger at players. :D
-
well i thought it may be time to start a build thread, after looking though others threads to gather info maybe this will help others too. well i brought my vr6 almost 2 years ago now in almost standard form apart from the wheels and coilovers which can be seen in the first couple of pics
-
hi i got mine this morning thanks . :D
-
money sent. cheers
-
thats no worries as i can do that i just didnt realy fancy making the complete down pipe from scratch. cheers
-
Yes indeed I will need a new downpipe. You're welcome to my old one, but it depends when you're planning on installing yours because I may not get round to doing the ATP for another month or two yet? thats great, ill have it off ya when your ready thanks. i still have a lot to do before i install the turbo as i want to sort out the OBD2 loom before i fit the turbo, also mount the intercooler + sort out the pipework for it and im looking at buying one of those Zeitronix Controllers for monitoring EGT, A/R and boost all in one gauge so loads to do.

The one I've got is a GT3582R (R denotes ball bearing by the way) with a 0.82 AR turbine housing and 3" V band outlet, 0.70AR TO4S compressor housing. There's also the 1.06 AR turbine option, which will really sing at the top end. With a 3" exhaust that will spool pretty quick too. The 0.82 will come in earlier though, but won't have quite the top end punch of the 1.06. It will still pull round to 7K no problem though. cool cheers for that, also i see in an earlier post that someone said you may be changing your manifold to an ATP if this is true will you be getting a new down pipe as i will be needing one like your current one.
-
Black dub, your manifold looks a damn site better than mine, good luck with that. Personally I would go GT35, but if you do, I would upgrade to a 44mm Wastegate. If you go GT30, the 38mm Wastegate is OK for that. Both the GT30 and GT35 will be full boosting before 4000rpm if you go for the 0.82 back housing. Your stock manifold will give a better midrange - 3500 - 4000 rpm - and shouldn't be laggy. Cheers i hope the manifold goes ok, its looking like i may be heading for the GT35 as i want power right to the end of the rev counter so looks like the Tial 38mm wastegate that i just brought will be going up for sale to get a 44mm one. Any chance you could let me know the full details of the GT35 that i will need to know to order one. the way the dollar is at the mo seems like ill just buy one from someone like AET turbos along with a XTR turbo jacket. cheers

hi people i just thought id post up a couple of pics of some new parts and to clear up a couple of issues with the SPA turbo manifold, i have brought a genuine SPA manifold from strictly dubs as they are just down the road from me and i took some exhaust gaskets with me to check and all is good with port and stud allignment it also seems that the manifold i got has been coated as it was one of SPA's display manifold. i also got a 38mm Tial wastgate while i was there too. i now want to buy my turbo but am unsure of which to buy it is either a Garrett GT3076 or a GT35, the thing is i am using the standard inlet manifold so i am guessing that will make things a little more laggy on spool up. i would like to be on full boost before 4,000 rpm. my spec so far is Schrick BVH, SP263 cams, Wossner 82.5mm low comps, ARP bolts and OBD2 convertion. cheers
-
black dub- will put you on the list if you like? Did you look through the thread as some folk have ordered them from Germany. vwdeviant- glad you're happy if you PM me what you think needs improving I'll get it sorted. yes you can put me on the list please and i look through the complete thread to see if it said where to get them from in germany. is there any chance you can send me a pic of what the loom looks like as i may want slightly longer cables as i have my battery relocated in the boot but have a distribution block in the engine bay and i am also in the middle of smoothing my bay and hidding all wiring. cheers.
-
hi i would like a set of the 3 relay loom but i am currently trying to get some passat connectors as described in the earliers posts. thanks
-
yes my engine is out so ill be able to drill the oil return in with no worries. i have had a look on both german + US ebay but i would rather do my own so i know its done properly.
-
those pics are handy cheers kev and ill also look on the american ebay to see about those manifolds if not ill just mod my 2.9 manifold to replicate the one on pg28 but ill use an OBD2 throttle body flange of a spare manifold i have. also did anything happen about those stainless exhaust manifolds you were talking about that replicate a certain poor quality cast one? cheers
