Anyone modded an Ipod dock to fit gear surround? done!
G60_edge replied to timg60's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
I haven't, but its a good call. I've got an Alpine headunit with Ipod connection so don't have to worry about power. But the control through the headunit is pretty rubbish so would nice to have a decent dock that holds it securely and allows me to pick it up and change track easily. I'm going to look into it. It you need power, you could get one of the 12v car kits and connect it to the 12v behind all the dash and run it stealth to the dock. I suppose the trouble will be that the connection to your headunit will be via the phono jack and difficult to incorporate without seeing the cable and having to keep connecting and disconnecting. Whats that black pipe going through the scuttle cover and seal. It isn't going to seal with that there is it? Or am I missing something Al

Don't think I'm going to be much help but I've got the same problem. As coolrado said, it should be straight at the blue arrow. I did bend mine back but it

ah, so the g-werks chip is basiclly an SNS one. Excellent. Yeah, I've seen there website before. Interesting read. Rado is going down at the end of the month, looking forward to getting it back.

My charger is getting the G-werks porting treatment + chip + pulley. Whats the difference between the SNS chip and the chip G-werks offer? I was given the impression that the G-werks chip is just as good if not better, but I haven't heard much about them. Anybody know the differnece or run both?

The hanger I needed was a rubber mounted onto a bar and bracket, coming in at around £12. It was just that the hole in the rubber was 90 degress out from the one I had. So sounds like the one you getting is different. cheers for the offer anyway, I'll contact Jetex. Al

Yozza, I was about to post about exhaust hangers as well Could you do us a favour and take a picture of the exhaust hanger you get from GSF. The reason being, the rubber on mine broke (or was just cut when fitted) and made a nice smell as it melted away against my exhaust. I went to get a replacement from VW, however the part they got in is orientated 90 degrees out and will not work with my exhaust. I have a Jetex exhaust and I'm not sure if it

cheers for the reply, Looks like its just going to be a case of taking it in to get the clutch replaced which will hopefully diagnose and solve the problem. Without knowing the exact problem its just a bit concerning driving it about. So I think I'll get it done sooner rather than later. Ta Al

Anybody got any ideas? Otherwise, looks like a trip to Stealth Al

Hi, I have developed a grinding/graunching noise when I depress the clutch at idle. When released in neutral its seems fine. The feel on the clutch pedal travel also feels a bit inconsistent, as if it

Cheers for the replies, has got it clear in my head now. Have just checked the car on level ground after being left all morning. Level is half way up hatching, so not critical but in need of a top up. Just bought some Silver Synta, so will be topping up before leaving work. As suggested, I'm going to check every day this week and see if there is any variation. Also try hot and cold to see if I can repeat what appeared to be a variation in the level. Dipstick and plastic shroud appears to be in good shape Cheers all Al

Hi all, Pretty stupid and simple question I think, but want to be certain I'm getting this correct. Can't find anything on the search. Had my Corrado a few weeks now. Have done a service. Oil, filter, fuel and air filter, plugs etc. Checked the oil level yesterday, when cold, and the reading was near the bottom of the hatching!! Then checked the manual and its says it should be left for a few minutes then checked, I presume this from a hot engine. Did this method and the level was spot on. I then checked about half hour and an hour later and the level was dropping toward the original reading when cold. So, is it correct to be checking after 10 mins when hot? Would you expect the level to drop that much when cold? Just want a definitive answer, as oil is obviously a pretty important thing to get right. Cheers Al

Cheers for the welcome. I had a 20v NA fiat coupe. From what I gather the 20v Turbo would certainly leave a VR6 in a straight line. They can also be tuned to some fair bhp (300+) with relative ease. Comparing the 20v NA to my current G60 (although not owned long). The G60 seems faster, which it should be with the 10bhp more on paper and at off the top of my head I don't think there is much difference in weight. When I briefly compared performance figures of the two cars they were very similar though. The fiat is quite front heavy and the handling suffers from this a bit. I never got round to improving this, but can obviously be done with suspension, strut brace etc. The G60 has far more potential for tuning though. To get anything more out of the coupe NA takes some significant amounts of money with little gains. In short the G60 seems faster and handles better than my 20v and has more potential for tuning. I don't dislike the Corrado interior but it’s no comparison for the coupe. As for the exterior, I'm still undecided but I'm swaying towards the Corrado (biased now that I own one), although a Coupe with LE skirts are very nice looking cars but kind of a love it or hate it styling. I really liked my Coupe and was sorry to see it go. I will certainly be looking to get a 20v turbo in the future, however can’t see myself selling the Corrado to do so. I need some more money!! Cheers all Al

Hello, Just bought a Corrado over the Easter weekend, so thought best to introduce myself as I'm bound to be on here a lot. I've never owned a VW, but have always wanted a Corrado from when I was kid. So when the recent opportunity came up I jumped at it. I my have rushed with the purchae a bit, but it was off a friend and has been looked after. It’s a K reg, G60 in Midnight Blue Pearl. Link to some pics below. (i won't do direct images for a while as it resulted in me gettting banned from the forum yesterday) http://www.compounddesign.co.uk/corrado/ Already got a fair list of jobs to do so will slowly start getting through them (with the help of this forum) I should be used to the regular expensive and maintenance as the Corrado replaced a Fiat Coupe! So, hello all. Think I will be here for a while, can’t see myself ever selling this car. Al
