Yeah, I know about the pretensioning, hence my question really. The pretensioning is ultimatley defined by the location of the smaller outboard bolt hole. I agree though, it must surely be the outer case for the 8mm distance. It looks right!
-
yeah, I suppose I wasn't very specific. The rear axle bushes. In the Bently manual is states that they should protrude 8mm out of the axle. However, the bush is stepped. There is the larger outer diameter which is pressed into the axle and this is what I assumed to need to protrude by 8mm. However, there is also a smaller diameter that sticks approx. 6mm more past the outer diameter. Having just done one I had a horrible thought that it meant the end face of the smaller diameter, in which case I've gone too far! Does this make sense?! As descriped in this thread and shown in the photo. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=87627&p=1049438&hilit=8mm+bush#p1049438 Thanks

Just installing my rear bushing. Can someone confirm where the 8mm dimension is measured to on the bush. Is it the larger outer diameter or the smaller diameter that sticks out further Thanks
-
ok, thanks. I've made an enquiry.

Anybody know of any good sources for custom/a range of intercoolers. Looking to buy one for the G60. Thanks
-
nice one. Cheers for the response.

Hi, Please could someone confirm that the blue/white wire with a spade connector that is down near the top of the filter housing is not conneted to anything. Just put my engine back in and this wire was troubling me! Must not of noticed it when I disconected everything. Thanks Alex

Here are the parts number for the elbow and seal. This is off VAGCAT. The bolts and washers are on there as well if you need them. See what VW say to these. 19 535121647 connection piece 21 535121687 round seal 31X3,2 / PG EDIT - the 19 and 21 refer to the label on the VAGCAT diagram. nothing to do with the part no.
-
no, it's not part of the radiator. Its held on by 2 bolts and has a o-ring that seals in the radiator inlet. I bought one from VW a few months ago. I'll see if I can get you the parts number so you can order it from VW

At first glance they looked like RF's (aka design 5000's) but when I just comparing photos they are actually a bit different. The RF's are nicer in my opinion as were my shopping list for the future!

Strange Request......4x100 wheel spacer Engineering Drawing
G60_edge replied to rado-steve's topic in General Car Chat
I've got a drawing of a 4x100 hubcentric spacer that I had made up. Will get it to you tomorrow morning Alex -
Ah, nice one. Looks like I've ordered correctly. Cheers for confirming. Its a bit of a mission to take the hose of just to look at the fitting. Then have to put it all back on and bleed until the new hoses turn up. So, glad I didn't have to. Cheers Alex
-
Cheers for confirming the male/female issue. If I understand the concave/convex issue, its to do with internal of the fitting. I've gone for concave, as according to a friend thats what an aircooled vw would have. So, as thats all I've got to go on, i've ordered a couple of hoses with concave fittings. In reality it probably doesn't matter and the hardlines are proabably going to need to be cut off so I can make them again to suit Hopefully my caliper carrier brackets will turn up today, so I can have a go at fitting tomorrow. Cheers for the help Alex
-
Looking on vagcat and from what I can remeber when I looked at the fittings a couple of weeks ago the hard lines are male. If I'm wrong I'll have to change the copper lines. Another question though, just phoned to order the hoses. Any ideas on whether I want a convex or concave fittings on the female flexi fitting onto the hardline union. Getting more complicated than I thought! Cheers for the help Alex
-
Cheers for confirming. So the hard line fittiing is male, so female on the flexi. I'm getting custom one made up to go to new calipers with banjo fittings, also changing diameters/spacing so want to ge the length correct. Thanks for the reply Alex
-
Hi, Can somone please confirm what the fitting is on the end of the hard line connecting to the flexible going to the front caliper (on a G60). Is it male M10x1? Getting some new hoses made up and want to be 100% sure I get the right fittings Thanks on advance Alex

G60 - Power cuts out on full throttle! Charger meets bonnet!

G60 - Power cuts out on full throttle! Charger meets bonnet!

I've had problems with my solid front engine mount. Bolt completely came out the first time resulting in excessive engine movement on acceleration which caused a boost leak and pulled my radiator out of its bottom mountings.. I threadlocked a new bolt in but that has come loose a few times. I now just keep checking and can tell from driving if it starts to come loose. -
door pods look spot on mate. Been wanting to try this myself for a while. Will have to give it a go.
-
Yep, that was always my back-up! Think I'll go for the 7075-T6 you suggest. I don't know much about aluminium grades, but this is a good starting point for a bit of reading. With the cost of the material and machining cost (i'm hoping to get a good deal through a supplier) it may be cheaper to just buy the seat Ibiza carriers as I think these will work out for my Porsche calipers. Will get some quotes. Thanks very much. Alex
-
Everything your doing is pretty spectacular. Good work. Can I ask what material your using for your caliper carriers. Assuming aluminium, what grade? I'm probably going to get some machined up for mounting my Porsche calipers. Thanks Alex

nobody done this before?

Alright, Anybody know what's the best lacquer to use for Porsche Calipers. As you can see, there are areas where the lacquer has come away, but I don't feel its worth stripping the entire caliper because of it. Caliper Laquer.jpg[/attachment:2yp4kyc3] Tried searching the web but not come up with anything useful. Do you reckon high temp lacquer like this is the way forward? http://www.ukpaints.co.uk/autok_special.php Anybody done this before? Any ideas welcome Ta Alex
