  1. Welcome back! Funnily enough I was planning on an elise after i'm done with this rado - how did you find them?
  2. Not moving until it all melts!
  3. No updates in a while because not much has happened - well, the ABS has completely gone tits up but I'll try and not let it get me down! The rado is currently covered in lots of snow. The neighbours is also stuck right behind so I guess it won't be moving for some time
  4. Meh. Would rather have a 1 Series M Coupe 8)
  5. It's a straight swap, you'll just need new gaskets, stretch bolts and stuff as mentioned. I would recommend doing what kerrly has suggested such as checking the rigidity of the rad hoses before committing to swapping the head over! Are you losing coolant? Not sure about weight tbh, someone else would probably have a better idea but it shouldn't be too much. Swapping to a 2.0 isn't really hard, but I clearly remember the total cost being a lot more than I had envisaged! New engine and gearbox mounts, endless sheared bolts to be replaced, new clutch (rude not to), cambelt, tensioner, etc, etc all escalated quickly!
  6. Yes I live in Croydon. Tell you what if you're really in need then I could probably split the head and mail it to you (at your expense). It's a little tappety from cold but otherwise fine and postage shouldn't be too much - would obviously benefit from a rebuild but I would advise a skim at the least which isn't expensive. From there on, off the top of my head you'll need head, manifold and rocker gaskets, stretch bolts, cambelt & tensioner, a torque wrench and a socket bit to fit stretch bolts. Not the hardest job tbh, my mechanical knowledge isn't that great and i managed to do it! Just make sure you're methodical and do your homework. I also agree with kerrly about the garage diagnosing a "cracked head". Good luck Nick
  7. If you're really desperate I have a sub 100k bare KR block and head you can have if you collect...taking up room tbh!
  8. So i borrowed my friends Vag com, and all I get is "link error" when trying to scan the ABS. Anyone know if the wire i disconnected would cause this? Scanned the engine etc ok, so a bit stumped really! Cheers Nick
  9. Thanks for the reply! I'll go check on my relays when it's next light :luvlove:

    9a Vs KR

I'm only aware of a rado and passat but possibly more, some other members will know more than me!
  11. Took a picture, showing what was buzzing with the wire i disconnected...anyone know what it is?

    9a Vs KR

9a has different oil filter bracket and breather unit. See pic attached (KR on the left)
  13. Maybe mate, not too sure. I have this schematic attached and it states that #12 is the pump...just can't see where this all is in relation to the car  I'll take a pic of what was buzzing later infact. Thanks for the reply though :luvlove:
  14. Hi guys, Beforehand my ABS would come on at low speeds (with 2 new front sensors), and no ABS light. Happened for about a week, then ABS light came on and stopped engaging. Didn't worry too much about it (long time before MOT is due  ). Earlier today I was standing by my car after driving (engine off) when I could hear a constant buzzing noise. Didn't register that it was coming from my car, so when I went to drive it away I was surprised that the noise was a lot louder and my abs was constantly kicking in and pulsating through the pedals. Engine off, hood up, the buzz was coming from something near the brake lines - I disconnected this wire (see pic) which got rid of it. Anyone know what that wire connects to that was making such a buzzing noise? Car is a 95 vr Cheers
  15. Rented a couple... Mongol: 8/10, great film and highly recommended. Girlfriend hated it though  Ong Bak 3: 3/10....I can't begin to describe how disappointed I was with this :( Edited to add: Also the Wicker Man remake (Nicolas Cage) just for a giggle  Check out the video:
  16. I'll fit a new one if it's not expensive. p.s. :norty: :norty: Sounds like it'd be an arse to get it in place....mine made no difference without it anyway! Good luck though, I know you have the power :luvlove: :norty: :norty:
  17. I removed mine....but it didn't go without a fight :bad-words: p.s. :norty:
  18. Green/Beige obviously 8) Although sometimes I miss the dark cosiness of my old black cloth interior :(. When I was thinking about upgrading from the 16v, every other rado i saw for sale was some blue variant! plus, i love how the green pearl shines in the sun.
