  1. Everything wrong with Purley :gag: Although there is another green storm about a 5 minute walk away. Ah so you know of the car park - no surprises there then, what with you and your naughty cigarettes
  2. Cheers Jim, tbh the valver has been ridiculously unreliable in the 3 years i've owned it so I was semi seriously looking elsewhere...the license plate attracted me to the vr6 (crap reason i know!) and well, the rest is history. Loving the VR note 8), but at the same time i do love the "rev your nuts off" attitude of the 16v. And nope that's at my parents house in Coulsdon...much more photogenic than the ghetto!
  3. Cheers for the comments 8) yeah the rears on the valver are poo aren't they? previous owner did that, never got round to sorting it out  If they were laquered they'd be fine but they just look like they've got a coating of mud at the mo lol. That's how i roll

  5. Hi guys, Been here for a while so thought i'd put some pics up. Firstly is the 16v. Specs can be found under the URL, but a summary includes: 9a bottom, KR top VR6/G60 Brakes Weitec Hicon GT coilovers -60mm all round Borbet A 9J rears, 7.5J fronts (rolled rear arches) Godawful tints the previous owner did Powerflow SS exhaust some pics: And now for the storm. I only got her today, my initials are NEP so i couldn't resist! All factory so far apart from some kind of aftermarket air filter (ideas anyone?) and clifford full closure alarm. Some pics: (note the working sunroof!) And now some of the family together: Only plans for the storm so far is to lower it a little, still undecided on the wheels but any mods i do will be easily reversable. There is a slight problem with the ABS (it kicks in a little too easily?) and unfortunately the 16v might be for sale soon :( Any feedback appreciated :D

Nice progress 8) I've always thought about doing the smoothed bumper but didn't know what to do about indictors. Are you planning to relocate or go without? Nick
  7. Whatever happened to Dec? :(
  8. Is your battery charged now and holding it overnight? If not you could feel to see if your alternator is warm in the morning or when everything else is cold. Good luck
  9. lowering it....mainly because it looks better

    Oily injector

There wasn;t any running down from what I could tell, cleaned it up anyway but the car still refuses to idle. Incidentally I removed the air box prior to this so i'm thinking that an air leak might be the cause of the idle issue, although the oily injector is still worrying. The car starts up okay so i presumed spark was ok, HT leads are about 1000miles old and i have no idea on how to test the pack? didn't have my socket set on me so couldn't check the plugs, the car is now stranded about 7 miles from where I live so i'll have to take a look when i next go there. Might be a ridiculous theory, but due to the injector being loose, is it possible oil could have run down there where I have accidentally spilled some when topping up? Any ideas on what could cause this anyway? Can't think of how oil could even get there in the first place :cuckoo:

    Oily injector

Hi, Pulled out #1 injector to find it was covered in oil! It's also on very loose. Anyone know the causes? Hope it's nothing too bad...strangely enough my car now refuses to idle and misfires badly (sometimes fails to fire) so i'm assuming it's related? Cheers p.s - 16v motor
  12. Hi, Thanks a lot for going to have a look, I checked the oil filter housing earlier and the wire is present. With the other wire you mentioned, did you mean the smaller wire which should be connected to the alternator, or a wire going off somewhere behind it? Also had a quick peek at the alternator too, the connector was still fixed but I didn't check for continuity. Will have another look tomorrow once daylight returns. From your description, it sounds like we're talking about the same wire. Thanks for your help 8)
  13. Yup same here - had a look earlier and it's still there :D thanks!
  14. bump... Anyone have any ideas? Tried tracing it, I think it either comes from an oil filter sensor, or it branches off somewhere through the dash ? Really hard to tell when everything is caked in crud!
  15. Everything works as it should....well, everything that I *need* to work  . I replaced my alternator a couple of months back, so i'm pretty sure the blue wire is there but i'll take a look tomorrow. Cheers
  16. Excuse the odd lights  . Gone back to factory headlights now, think they look much better 8)
  17. Hi all, Anyone know what this wire is? Found it dangling from underneath so either it broke apart and was left hanging, or what was supposed to be on the end grinded off on the road  Tried to route through to the source but it's such a spaghetti junction i gave up :gag: . Car is a 16v Cheers
  18. Hi guys, Was just wondering if anyone had a caliper bolt fall off whilst driving and what could cause it? I changed my hub and bearing recently so I know myself I did them tight...okay, so i didn't use the specified torque settings because they weren't at hand, but i did them proper tight. Brakes made a horrible grinding noise and luckily as I pulled into my driveway they just locked up completely. Took the wheel off to find the bottom bolt missing (no signs of shearing) and the top one finger loose! I tried the top bolt on the bottom hole and the thread doesn't seem to be stripped. The only thing I could see was that the bolt was a bit greasy from a previously split CV boot. If it makes any difference, I have vr6 calipers/carriers on my 16v. Anyone have the torque settings for the bolts, and can I use some kind of sealing product before tightening (any recommendations?). Cheers edit** forgot to say - front N/S caliper
  19. Nope, the actual pump itself is mounted by i think 4 bolts, a couple are really fiddly and frustrating. Once it's loosened off you'll have enough slack to slide the belt off. I can't remember if you have to put the pulley onto your new pump, but it is a right b!tch trying to remove those 3 bolts you mentioned! I had to do it before for one reason or another and it was not fun :gag: btw, what symptoms do you have to make you think its knackered? If it's just whiney then first thing you could do is give it a good bleeding, failing that you could try and play around with the belt tension 8)
  20. Which engine is it? If for a 16v which has a separate belt for the PAS (alternator runs off a different belt), there's a tensioner underneath the car by the PAS pump, although I just remove the fiddly bolts that mounts the pump on and go from there
  21. Always amazes me how those wheels just instantly make a car look absolutely wicked! My best pick of mine below VR.jpg[/attachment:o6sc1lpm] Now on Palladium Grey BBS RC's though so needs another photo sessions, Teledials for sale if anyones interested...I'll put a proper thread up soon Really loving this one...sort of reminds me of a countach :luvlove: edit: can't seem to get the smegging picture to display...mods?! :bad-words:
  22. Hm, couldn;t find any splits in the hoses, and they don't seem to be clogged up. I bought some jubilee clips and it seems to have helped a little bit, but there is still a leak  . I noticed that oil is collecting on the bottom left bolt of the breather (where the arm goes across), it might be leaking from there although it's hard to imagine so as the gasket is new...maybe it slipped when i fitted it, i guess i'll buy a new one and go from there. Would loctite or any instant gasket be useful on this part?
