I really love this car! Looks even better on the RS's, top work
-
I've been very lucky in my line of work is all, especially at the grand old age of 27. I think you may need to think about contracting again if you wanted to turbo your R32 :norty: No worthy annihilation stories to speak of yet - and by that I mean nothing worth shouting about! Nothing has been able to keep up with the car once on boost, although many sh*tboxes have tried. Some cars that have sat aggressively right up to my bumper, (momentarily) have included an Astra VXR, Jag XF, Audi A6, Civic Type R, 200SX... all it took was a bit of throttle in 4th or 5th and they're on the horizon in my rear view mirror. Funnily enough they seem to hang back after that :) Just like to clarify that I hadn't goaded any of the above, just cruising along when I'm guessing they wanted to bully an old VW. I'd really like to see how the VR6T compares against some better cars, although in time I'm sure I'll get an opportunity. This boost lark is addictive! It has completely changed the entire characteristics of the car, it's just sheer brutality. The big brakes are also awesome and IMO a definite must if going turbo. Corners are suddenly appearing a hell of a lot quicker than I judge, and I think that if I had poo brakes and no LSD then I probably would have understeered into a ditch by now  Anyway, my Mocal appears to have sprung a slight leak so the Corrado is off the road until Friday, when I can jack it up and hopefully just tighten the union (it's down the bumper N/S). For now it's back to the Mini Cooper daily hack (which is much better on fuel anyway). Teething problems! PM me nearer the time and I'll try and find out the best people to put you in touch with :) Nick

Thanks Hasan, still looks rough round the edges to me though! Be sure to give me a shout next time you come up :) I do Subsea design here. Sean, if I can help in any way re. work then PM me (although as a hired gun I don't think I have much influence!) Nick
-
Thanks sean, they look pretty good actually :) Seems I've been spotted! I've only been at Wood Group for a couple of months (life of a contractor) so it makes a nice change to drive to work as opposed to getting a train in to the city. Are you with BP?

Haven't even had a chance to see what it's like in the wet yet, probably not that much fun! Although in the dry it seems alright and certainly not as bad as I thought it would be at all - I had visions of myself constantly fighting the steering wheel  I'll never say never, but I really can't see myself wanting to up the boost any time soon! Besides I don't know how much the internals and box can take so it would always be a worry. This winter it will be SQS time though like we spoke about 8) Very kind of you to say Jim, although I can think of lots of cars here that I think are miles better than mine! Once I put the fresh Recaros in it should be a lot nicer inside though :) I'm currently down for the National Day, Motorsport @ Palace, GTI International and London Volksfest so should hopefully see you again at one of those. Nick

Congrats! One of my favourite cars :)
-
Thanks man, don't think it will ever be complete to me though! How's it going with your install? Reckon you'll be ready for the national day? Don't think it's a dubpower one, if believe stealth get someone in to custom make the system but couldn't tell you who. It's a 2.5" decatted system, with only the back box IIRC. It is quite fairly loud, but would be better to take a video for you so you can hear for yourself :) Sounds pretty good actually, got any pics or URL to buy? Cheers
-
Thanks chaps, there's still so much to do though. The list is never ending on these cars! Anyway the weather was nice today so I thought I'd chuck a bucket of water over the car, couldn't be arsed to give it a proper clean. Custom exhaust can be seen here: I like the orange indicators, although 90% of people tell me to go clear. What do you reckon? Also, brakes: Intercooler: Power plant, with bonus manky manifold :)
-
Can't beat fresh paint :) glad it worked out for you
-
IIRC it think Billcor used a 215/40 as opposed to my 205. Probably a lot more forgiving and certainly didn't ruin the looks! Still love the wheels and if you ever do turbo, they have acres of space for big brakes :norty: Nope, watching Crystal Palace later (sucker for punishment here). Kind of wanted to work on the car but tomorrow is another day :) Yeah the inlet is actually down the wing almost where it was when the charger was installed. I didn't like the fact it was there before in case I sucked up loads of water, but apparently it needs to be a certain distance from the MAF. Will have to be careful, or look into an alternative solution... Thanks! There's a little video on p33 but I've yet to take another but I'll try to enlist my girlfriend as a cameraman and record some shortly :) You won't regret it! If anyone is considering a turbo then I'll be happy to take them for a spin at the national day or another show to get a feel for it

Not too sure, here's a list of their custom parts to give a rough idea though. Probably best to contact them https://www.jetex.co.uk/jetex/store/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=44

Pics as promised. What I only noticed after is that the back box has a little dent in it, as well as the other bit of pipe you can see. Had the same on my old Milltek so assuming they are there so they can fit. Hopefully someone can confirm. Needs a bit of a clean, but works perfectly
-
Cheers! I'm sure there must be a manifold solution for the 24v ;) no excuses! The CHs are running 205/40/17 Falken ZE912. How about yours?

As per title, I bought this about a year ago for around £380, and it has only had about 1000 miles use. Custom exhaust and lack of space deems this surplus to requirements. £190ono collected. Will try to find a big enough box for postage but don't hold your breath... Grab a bargain! Pics to follow...

LOL yeah I wasn't quite expecting that level of power, it was like repeatedly being first in the queue for a white knuckle ride at a theme park :) For the benefit of some who asked about the stealth turbo: Firtly, I must say the level of service is top notch and I can't recommend the stealth guys enough. Vince and co spent a long time explaining everything that had been done, the reasons why and how to maintain the vehicle, recommending the best plugs, oil, etc. it was obvious that a hell of a lot of work had gone in to the car, and IMO it represented excellent value for money if you're seriously considering turbo but don't feel confident enough to DIY. As for the car itself, well now I completely understand why some of you guys chose to turbo your VR6s, I've never felt such brutal power in a car before, it was disgusting and after the initial shock I was laughing all the way home. Setting off for the first time was driven off boost due to congestion, here it behaved exactly like a normal VR6 should and if taken easy I think the mpg would actually be pretty reasonable. The helix clutch judders ever so slightly when pulling away, but I'm told that this is perfectly normal (it isn't enough to be a hindrance though). The custom exhaust note is certainly quite unique and hinted that something was a bit different with the car. As soon as the road cleared it was time to see what this thing was capable of. From the end of second gear I floored it, and held on for dear life! It felt like the car had been attached to a giant slingshot and catapulted down the road - everything around me just became a blur as I went in to warp speed. I was worried that the lack of Racelogic would see me endlessly wheelsplinning, but the LSD was more than enough in the conditions to put the power comfortably down. Third gear was even more savage and from here on it was just relentless, never ending power. The exhaust when opened up sounds like nothing else, and the recirc valve gives a god almighty whoosh when you let off the throttle :norty: What goes up, must come down though, and a random emergency stop showed me how good the tarox brakes were. I would definitely recommend them to anyone as the stopping power is almost as brutal as the acceleration. The only pic for this post, a before and after. They fill the wheels a lot nicer than before (17") After paying the final balance it was a 2+ hour journey home, which only re-highlighted how fast the car was. Even in 5th, it pulls extremely hard and it was a matter of seconds before I was at license losing speeds. Unfortunately I didn't really come across anything exotic to test the car against, but I'm not the kind of guy to provoke anyone on the road anyway. At 70mph you can drive off boost too so as not to empty the fuel tank too quickly! Through the twisty roads the LSD just made the car feel so much tighter and controlled, a definitely worthwhile upgrade. That's all I can really say for now, but for anyone considering getting this done - you will not regret it. Yes it's a fair bit of money, but definitely worth every penny. Pics and videos to follow, it needs a clean! Nick

Just got back from Stealth. All I can say for now is OMG! I will post a report later, I'm off to drive it some more!
-
I will definitely report back once I am home :) Hopefully the rozzers aren't about on a Friday afternoon, but I don't think I'll be going too crazy anyway. As for fuel, well I guess it's a good thing that my mpg counter will be wildly out! Definitely left out of stealth ;) Vince sent this earlier, didn't really want to show it as my manifold, plastic cover and everything else bar the turbo stuff looks manky (it's on the list, I'm looking at you clumpy!) but it does show how tidy the install looks... Roll on tomorrow!
-
Picking it up tomorrow, and I cannot wait to drive it back! It's been too long since I last saw the old heap. I expect my wallet is going to take a severe beating though

Ron's Blackberry VR6 - A11 VRX - Getting her back on the road
n3p replied to Hofmiester's topic in Members Gallery
Yup, that's a good price! Congrats -
Put me down for one :)
-
You could try them on to see how much they poke, but I'd imagine the fronts would be the biggest problem. Sorry I can't be of more help
-
With 15mm adapters you'll get 16x9 ET-2 and ET4 so arch work would definitely be needed :(
-
 I think my mpg will be fine off boost!
-
I think if you spend a bit more you can get a really nice, well looked after VR6. Mine has never left me stranded (touch wood) and has been very reliable (although that's likely to change now!). On a (very) long run I managed 35mpg but 25-30avg.

May sound silly, but IIRC my old clifford would sometimes require me to turn the key, then press unlock on the fob to de-immobilise the car before it started (there was usually a time frame where I could just unlock, get in and fire up but it would often fail). I'm guessing you've tried this? If not it's worth a shout. Having said that, I've had 3 cars with cliffords fitted and they were all problematic! Seems they have a shelf life. Good luck!
