  1. Mmm, seems like the older ones are 170hp and the newer ones are 190, depending on year.
  2. I wouldn't block them up if I was you, there's a fair bit of pressure in them. How were the hoses attached to the pipe, maybe the jubilee worked it's way loose? Entirely possible if it's been sat unloved for 2 years. Any engine bay pics?
  3. imho, that would be pretty gay. But then my list would comprise of: to name but a few :brickwall:
  4. Apparently the sports cats don't flow that much better than a std cat, but then again it will prob be cheaper than a VAG replacement!
  5. It is definitely annoying when you know more than the mechanic does! That's why I just do everything I possibly can (i.e. doesn't need specialist tools) to our own cars.
  6. 325s aren't quick either though, only about 170hp iirc?
  7. Most of the parts that could get confused probably aren't going back on so it's ok :salute:
  8. yeah, sideways! :cuckoo:  you love the passive rear steer.
  9. I saved that pic of Vortex thinking it was a stateside one :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
  10. I keep mentioning Jun cams and mugen orders from Japan, but I don't think he's getting the hint Rob!
  11. Nitro is good stuff. As said it is volatile, but not from explosion, but actually from shock forces. it's ~50% oxygen by weight and so burns for a lot longer when in the chamber. I've read in performance tuning books that anything over 20% nitro can easily make it's way past the rings, and even explode in the hot sump oil underneath!
  12. I do enjoy having it as my testbed for thermo ideas, that's a good thing. There's no point doing it on my 16v at the moment as it's so slow and gutless. Good for pottering though!
  13. Just don't let fatties ride in yours. That's my first tip :salute:
  14. Thanks :salute: Way more ideas than pocket size at the moment (as usual) so may be a while in the making.
  15. You wouldn't be the first to s*d the physics my friend. I mean, if you can't see it, it doesn't affect anything does it?
  16. lol, you're a fruit and nut case! I should really come over and grab those bits from you, esp as they're easily movable now. I will shortly have up for sale: 50mm polished inlet, CSV (meldino is grabbing this I think), WUR, KR cams (possibly), pistons and rods (if anyone wants?! they've only done 80k...) injectors and braided lines (injectors are _really_ clean)
  17. dr_mat got there before I got even get near, bro! new Beems are h e a v y, and your car prob tops out at 1.4 tons wet weight with you and your leathers in. weight, gearing, noob driver, all adds up!
  18. Yeah the aux shaft is still in the block  I've annoted all of these on my Facebook account, but ICBA to do that again here. Plus Prod would have to do it as he's posted the pics!
  19. Good point! Copper is 1.8 times as good as shifting heat as Ally, but Copper is 3x denser! go with the ally then I reckon, good call Yan.
  20. I have been researching new gearsets for the 02A box. It seems that a fair few people make some awesome cogs for them, but they come at a price which is way above what I thought some straight-cut cogs would cost. So I will most likely just rebuild my current gearbox to OEM spec, and get some new cables. :salute:
  21. *points to the previous 28 pages of the thread* read up on it buddy.
  22. those yellow springs look too wide for rears IMHO. the fronts should be ( ) shaped, but the rears should be || shaped. hth, Jon. p.s. not sure if you need a plate or not, sorry
