  1. ah right! Sorry. Looks like you've been busy then :D is the 4wd a haltech jobby? I'm not sure if my brain can comprehend a corrado project being "done"!
  2. I'd agree in principle for both of those mate. In the summer I did cycle but the roads back to where I live are dark (no street lighting) and frequented by maniac drivers and the buses are absolutely chock full during term time (work at a Uni) - my mate who gets the bus has stood and had to wait as bus after bus to pass as they were all full. I do plan to return to cycling in the summer... In the winter though, it just sucks balls. 19 miles a day in freezing wind or rain isn't my idea of fun. True with the bikes in winter. I'm still cycling cos I literally can't afford the bus. It is pretty cold at 8am (and only just light!) and even though I only do 12 miles round trip it can feel like a marathon with some of the gradients (which I sure didn't notice when I had 100+hp!) but ho hum. Getting dark at 4pm is bad too, some of the cycle paths are out past the ring road so have no street lighting and my front light is really just there to keep the police happy (handing out £60 no lights fines atm). I do sympathise a lot Jim! Realistically, It's my own fault for owning such a money pit with zero income.
  3. Corrado is latin for expensive isn't it? Well done on writing the to-do list though, I think a lot of us are too scared to do that! Or are we too scared to tot up the running total... :pale: looks like it'll be a monster when done.
  4. :notworthy: awesome build. What make is the tank or is it a custom jobby? Not seen one that big outside of a Westy before!
  5. Boost Monkey is always aching to tell people to use the search.. I thought it only seemed fair to give a similar response :) touch
  6. ASBOs definitely the cheapest in Oxford too, something aroun 88p atm although seeing as I don't drive I can't remember the exact amount.
  7. LOL@internet! fair comment though mate. The pretensioning is something to do with leaving a specific gap on one side of the bush when tightening up the axle bolt. I'm at uni and don't have Bentley with me. Edit: Yes I do, it's on my USB stick. Here's the scan of the rear axle bolt stuff: As you can see, Joe Bloggs has used a prybar to "pretension" the bush (basically, squeeze it over to one side to effectively 'load' the rubber bush before it actually has any real load on it). hth, Jon :salute:
  8. The nuts are M10 thread, 1mm thread pitch. That's what VAGCAT says and I also just confirmed it (with a metal ruler and everything) on my VR6 spec sachs gas rear shocks. Hope this helps, Jon :salute:
  9. yeah all the brake lines stay connected to the brake pressure regulator / valve. It's attached to an arm which goes to the rear bush bracket if you see what I mean. don't worry though, I disconnected / snapped all those brake lines before I realised it doesn't need to come off too! You prob won't need them now, but all my beam removal pics are up on the project plum thread. just remember mine isn't a VR so model-specific stuff won't be same (brake pressure regulator etc) Excellent progress though! and ditto what Steve said, doing that in this weather must be horrid! Jon :salute:
  10. any pics of the washers? they might be an OEM-type part, and they're deffo all still available from VAG as I have 2 of everything in front of me.
  11. I'm with you CM, i think it's a good effort! especially if he started with a US base car.
  12. aaah right, sorry! I have the rears in front of me and they are 17mm. Those came with my Sachs Advantage rear gas shocks so they should be the current size. sorry for the mix up!
  13. yeah, they seemed to have changed a few bits like that. the 17mm that used to go through the ridge on the lower ball joint is now a 16! but that's prob not helpful to you  cool mate, you should be able to find some. if worst comes to worst, take the strut with you and size up the nuts on the spot :salute:
  14. I found this problem too when I was putting my new boge on, Critical Mass. The new replacement top mount nuts are 21mm. You can still get them from VW, they're just nyloc nuts really. you could probably just go to a hardware store and get some if yu don't have a dealer near you.
  15. Your replacement seats are my ideal seats! Quality build, keep the progress coming
  16. I'll do my best :salute: better crack on with these reports now :/
  17. what did you use to make the camo badge? I think it looks alright!
  18. That looks pretty cool! Not heard of the GT24 though, what is it?
  19. Cheers matt, it was Pete who did all the work really! I was feeling really lazy that day and just a bit down so was cool to have him there being all enthusiastic! **Project Plum / Me now on sabbastical until further notice.**
  20. If anyone sounds gay now, it must be me: I just mentioned wanting a model of a stroked bottom end.
  21. Ditto the 24mm socket for the cooler as per Toad :salute: and that the pipes are tw
  22. Very bad move my friend. Next time, use the search. I know you're trying to be helpful, but that comes across as horrifically condescending. I have a bee in my bonnet about pattern radiators. Surely that's obvious by now!
  23. Yeah, should be same torques as Mark 2. Just flicked through both bentleys.
