Ha ha, Well I didn't work much over summer and I just use time between coursework to sit on the forum. Kinda sad. Ah yeah, see what you mean with the dremel. I think that was my weapon of choice: I was still upset with the drill after it failed to liberate that wishbone bolt on Subframe #1 (RIP). That's good :D my NS hub isn't painted but now it's all torqued and camber'd up! Argh, what to do. Maybe if I change the springs I will give it a lick. And maybe even paint it too  Keep at it matey! I will probably harass you when I start putting my PAS back on  :salute:

 Ahh Andy, I miss you on the forum buddy! Yeah it did take a while, I'm a bit of a google image whore though. I like rice when it is actually a Banzai Wagon, but not when it's Dave's Mum's Fiesta :bonk:

Broke my bike yesterday. It's a hand-me-down from ProdigalSon and quite a good one at that! Must have retailed at about £500 back in the early 90s. Anyways, I'm cycling along, giving the legs a good working and I slow down for traffic. CRNKT. The pedal slips away from me. Weird, the chain is still on. It does it again. So I pull over and pop the bike upside down to have an inspection. I thought maybe the crank bearings had gone, but there was no grinding or play in the pedals at all, so I ran through the gears...all fine although there was a little lag when taking up forward drive. I limped it up to my friend's house and got a lift in with him as usual. Took the bike down to the shop today and they confirmed that the "free wheel" is on it's way out  so I left it there and they said it should be about £25, although I asked them to check the bike over generally as it's been stood for at least a year before I started using it in October. Apart from that, updates are few and far between. Hopefully Pete_Griff is coming down to help me do the brake lines next week, what a legend! He offered to fix my bike too  but my old dear offered to pay for the work so I shopped it out. Cheers anyways though Pete :salute: Going away this weekend but hopefully more updates next week when we're doing brakes

good points david, you will indeed need an o ring for the stat to pump and then from the pump to block.
-
You've already summed it up mate. Take the PAS bracket off. There are 3 vertical bolts (1 long, 2 short IIRC) that hold the bracket on and one short horizontal one which attaches it to the PAS adjustment arm or something like that. Undo those four and then you'll see the stat housing behind it, just 2 small bolts after that. pretty sure they're all 10mm heads.

Rob, david has covered 99% of your issues, and he is completely right! I still hail him as the steering god on here  the UJ is completely swappable; I wouldn't bother giving it a feel because any play is so minute that is too small to notice by playing with it, but unfortunately the variances can be large enough to give you steering issues. Only way to get around this is to swap the UJ for a known good one or at least a low mileage one. If you need a 36-spline double ended UJ let me know as I have a couple kicking about I think, had about 4 early racks recently! I can pop them both in the post at cost no probs. Adz, really don't know mate sorry. Never had a rack do this kind of thing. I do know the internal mech can wear in one direction though so could well be that - possible new rack time I'm afraid which could amount to £££ if you're not willing/able to DIY. Otherwise, VAG still sell a set of seals which are about £25 a set. I don't know whether they will fix your problem as I never fitted mine due to not having the special tools, so perhaps a swapout rack is the best idea all round. Let us know how you get on.

CAMMMBEEERRRRRRRRRR. Love it :D

Wow, really shows the markup on some stuff doesn't it! Recommend getting a trade card, I've pinched one before just to get some cans of stuff. You'd be surprised how much markup they make / discount for TC holders on the most random items!

get a new boost return valve? -
good points sonic and pete! to be fair there is a japanese guy who owns an AE86 and a fair few nice Golfs and Corrados kicking about.

Well, being an ex-poly there are an awful amount of who think they're the and be all like: , and you're like.... ... Before you know it, they're braggin about their tight and how they're . So you go check out their and it seems they might have eaten some for lunch and washed it down with some cos this here ride looks like a ... The suspension's all like Engine's all like Brakes are all like Exhaust's all like It is one big and the whole thing needs to be . Please say :nono: to .

As long as your avatar stays as Mr. Smythe Ponson Ponsonby I think I will enjoy our dapper appearances and the scoffing of lower classes  but yeah throw up a sidey of the nazi wagon if you must.

They don't go with your Cardigan...maybe your ruffle-neck but it depends on the weather.
-
Yeah... I wasn't this thorough at all with my Mk2 and i really liked that :confused4: I guess the Corrado is next-level though  (god that sound cheesy) Yeah, I have silly amounts of pictures now, probably into the hundreds . I just tried to pop my front mount onto the spare cross member but one of the bolts was the wrong one. Hmm. VAGCAT error. Bit stuck at the mo until my springs arrive (cheers dave!) cos then I can knock up the rear struts quickly which will allow me to attach the rear beam to the car (i.e. don't want the trailing arms to trail onto the floor, hence putting suspension on) and the brakes can happen  kinda annoyed though as it's real nice weather today. I don't really want to put the front up on stands too as it's a :nono: for subsequent work under the car (PAS pump reinstall and hose routing). Back to the coursework I guess then.

Hi mate, just seen the missed call! Sorry about that. Good to chat to you though :D will be in touch about stuff on Monday. :salute:

that bad huh? I'm gonna be working with axle stands, me and possibly the good Mr. Griff!

Hi guys, Going through both the bentley and mk2 haynes and can't find these panels mentioned under suspension, chassis or bodywork! If someone can let me know what torque the bolts which hold the two together (not to the car) are, I'd be much obliged. Jon.

one guy went bright bright red and we pretty much all mocked him! No idea what he drives though. Oh and the guy with the blue G60 is on my course, so I will be harassing him soon.

What do you buy the Corrado owner who has everything?
boost monkey replied to Timbo's topic in General Car Chat
 It's one of the more upper-class things I've been called recently! interesting how the font of the word Corrado on the bike looks quite similar to our rear badges though I reckon. -
Valver stuttering badly - fuel lines? fuse? relay?
boost monkey replied to cormjah's topic in Engine Bay
if you park uphill, the petrol will slosh away from the collector inside the tank making it a little harder to start when you're low on petrol. There's a guide to doing fuel filters on here and they're cheap enough, so would be a good place to start I'd say. -
Ditto the Polonator, sounds like a fuse has gone mate. Quite a few of the interior circuits share fuses I think. Good updates though! glad you're getting there with the brake lines, still got to do mine :pale:

Think I know a few peeps at Oxford Brookes. Got no idea how big it is so don't know if its likely you'd know them. One is obsessed with his Uno Turbo. :camp: :awesome: so when the turbo spools, it'll pull the shoddy rusted chassis apart! We had a talk last thursday night about performance aspects of cars, and how you can't just sling a set of springs on a car and expect it to handle as they ideally should be matched to the damper rates etc. Then he referenced Halfords / Ripspeed spring kits and how chavs think they're amazing when they put these on. I kid you not, one row of people sat behind me looked like this:         :pale:  :mad2:   It was awesome.

Did the paint solvent make the Blu-tac go all sticky    It actually did! :? not the best plan I ever had but ho hum.
-
180k is a bit high for just slapping on a turbo imo. You wouldn't probably be wise to give it a rebuild at the same timer. 12v versus 24v... well there's an ongoing debate!
