Your new system will give you more bhp without replacing the manifold but not much, maybe 5hp more if you're lucky. Replacing the manifold would probably give you another 10 - 15bhp once it had been through a rolling road setup. Don't know how much exhaust manifolds are for the 1.8 but in my experience manifolds are very expensive bits of kit, for a good one I wouldn't expect much change from £500

Can you have a look and see if it is a post 92 model. I need a set of front fogs if they're in good condition. Ta

Just put a stainless steel mesh filter onto my VR. The difference is unbelievable. Think I've lost a bit of torque but throttle response is up and probably a bit of power. It's the sound that your really notice though, have a standard exhaust on still but the engine really roars, it's brilliant.

Welcome to the best forum for your beloved Corrado. I certainly think so.

For those of us close enough Tsunami can be contacted on 0191 478 1666. They use 316 grade stainless steel with 1.6mm walls for the piping. Stevemac, I don't know what the powerflow down your way is like, I have heard different stories from all over the country. The one near us is terrible, they use 304 grade and MiG weld it! Usually the welds are rusty within a couple of months. Also they couldn't properly gas flow a dual exit system if their lives depended on it. My advice is to find some people that have had some done by them already and have a good look before you buy. Whilst ours is no good I have heard some good stories for other places in the country but it varies.

Mine idles like that too so doesn't sound like it's anything to bother about.

I should be able to go, finances permitting. Make me a space.

If your in Gateshead and fancy a full custom system. Take it over to TsunamiRacing on Salt meadows road and they'll build you one for £350. Getting some backboxes in from America soo which are very nice.

I'm with Royal & Sun Alliance through Adrian Flux, 25 year old, full no claims, clean licence, VR6, £700 fully comp.

On the coolant side of things I find my temp can rise up to 110 degrees before the fan kicks in when I'm just idling but if I raise the revs a bit it kicks in much earlier. As the temperature is being read immediately out of the engine but the fan switch is in the radiator, this suggests that the water isn't being pumped around fast enough at idle which is fine for you only getting up to 102 but for those of us whose temp is getting really high I think one of the water pumps may be on its way out. Only time will tell on that one.
-
FYI the original Corrado owners manual says "The engine speed should be reduced if the oil temperature rises to 145 degrees C". Suggests that as long as you are using a suitable oil you are fine up to that temp.

Mines on 95k now, was on 93k when I got it three weeks ago. Did the first 1500 miles in the first week.:D
-
Best give my ISV a clean then, doubt it's ever had it done, see if it helps any

Yeah idle is quite lumpy and the exhaust pops a bit when the engine is revved, and i don't think it's as efficient as it should be. Now you've mentioned it that would suggest an O2 sensor problem. Am going to be pulling the plugs as soon as my leads arrive and replacing the distributor cap and rotor arm, plug leads, and plugs so I'll see what condition they are in.
-
Can anyone tell me how to get the idle speed of my VR6 up. It is really low at the moment at about 600 - 650 rpm.

Mines 95K miles now. Got it three weeks ago with 93K on and had it up to 94k within a week :D.

Right get this. The jet is out of a F5 fighter, it prdoduces 5000lbs thrust which in hp terms is around 10000 horses. 0 - 300mph takes 1/4 mile and 3.8 secs. Should be called a silly car instead of a funny car. My face hurts. Good idea with events section, we would all know to look to see what's on and Chris might have known about it then.
-
Hi all, just got back. Steve you left at totally the wrong time, you missed the jet car running. I made the mistake of standing right near it to watch not realising that part of the show is to put the aftreburner on. My face is now very red. Still was a good day though and I enjoyed it. My only regret is that I have not got the car to a stage where I am willing to race it yet. It will be next time though. Steve, it was good to meet you mate. There were a few other Corrados there including another red VR I was behind for a while coming out of York. Any from here? Chris, good to meet you too. Catch you about soon.
-
Do we need tickets already for this as I don't have any and would have to pay on the door.
-
Think it might be best to exchange phone numbers cos the meeting point is quite a lot out of my way. Gazza and Steve, I have PM'd you mine. First one there save some spaces for the rest of us. I'll have my mate in his Seat Ibiza probably and me in my VR6. Aim to arrive around 9:30am. See you all there.

VR6 Main cooling fan has a little belt hanging off.

Ta, info was spot on was a bit of an arse of a job but I got it in the end and it'sall working fine now. -
That sounds like the electrical side of things, check your spark plugs are tight in their sockets and the dizzy cap is sealed properly check the condition of the cap and rotor arm, check your HT leads visually and do a resistance test across them. Things like this are often down to damp getting in old HT components and distrupting charge flow through them (arcing places they shouldn't etc...)

What are the best spark leads and plugs for a VR6
BarneyVR6 replied to BarneyVR6's topic in Engine Bay
The guy that is going to be doing all the servicing on my car for me has said not to use Magnatec because it's "s**t" for VR's as the heat of the engine breaks it down. -
I'm going to try and get there depending on a couple of other things this weekend. Stevemac provisionally I can meet you on the M62 give the location and time. I should know for definite wether I can make it by tomorrow night.

I've only had mine a week so I couldn't make it to the last one. When's the next one meet?
