For sale as a non runner - Bordeaux Pearl Corrado VR6 with OBD2 conversion. Here are some photos of the car: http://www.flickr.com/photos/93026755@N05/ Unfortunately I will have to let my VR6 go. I've owned it since 2007 and made a whole load of improvements to it including a complete engine rebuild, which has annoyingly just failed on me. I haven't got the time or enthusiasm left to rebuild it a second time so hopefully someone can buy it off me and either donate the parts to other cars in need, or replace the engine and keep L25 NUG going a bit longer! Bodywork, carpets and grey cloth interior are in excellent condition. Sunroof tilts and slides, refurbished 2007. Electric windows in good working order. Forgot to add, the spoiler works perfectly, raises and lowers at 45mph. 288 front brake upgrades done 2011. Koni coilover suspension fitted by Stealth in 2008, in excellent condition. Rear beam powder coated and refurbished with new bearings etc. Rear subframe refurbished, new bushes, powder coated. Wishbones, bottom ball joints, track rod ends all refurbished, new bushes and powder coated. 2011 Milltek stainless steel exhaust. OBD2 installed 2012, was running beautifully until water got into the multi-way engine plug and shorted it out, so will need a new loom or new connector. Engine rebuild 2009 - ARP main, crank and head bolts, Wiseco forged aluminium pistons, new bottom & piston bearings, new seals all round. Compresson on the cylinders is >190psi except for cylinder 6 which is ~100 dry, 130 wet. I suspect a worn/blown piston ring or cracked piston. Head work done by Impulse developments in Rochdale, all new valves, steam cleaned and repainted. Radiator replaced 2008 Toad Ai606 Cat #1 alarm with full closure, 2 key fobs. Headlight relay loom fitted. Spare wheel & tyre in new condition, jack and wheel wrench. Standard 15" speedlines in good condition, with four very good Uniroyal Rainsport tyres, approx 5000 miles wear. The recent suspension and brakes work made this car drive beautifully, very smooth and surprisingly comfortable ride considering the coilover suspension. I was getting a realistic 35mpg from OBD2 (measured at the pump) before the bottom end blew. I have a number of other parts for it which I never got around to fitting, which I will include: clutch slave cylinder door handle repair kit (both sides) new window rollers (both sides) replacement oil pressure and temperature senders Steering column housing for fixed height steering wheel mod. Full set of engine plastics. I will also throw in any Corrado/VR6 specific tools I can find. (e.g. spark plug removal tool, coilover adjustment spanner etc) Loads of receipts, history, and MOT till April 2014. I'll keep the tax disc! Clocks all work and show ~150000 miles. Known faults: Non-runner - shorted/melted engine multi-way plug due to water ingress. Rest of the loom looks fine though. Low compression on cylinder 6 - suspect cracked piston or worn piston rings. Clutch difficult to disengage, suspect slave cylinder needs replacing (replacement supplied with the car) Passenger door lock needs fixing Heater control stuck on Windscreen mode. Horn doesn't work, suspect steering wheel slider contact. Heated mirrors don't work, or move. £975 cash, no px, very close offers considered. Collection from London SE3, you will have to tow away or bring a pickup truck...

How to fit / wire / install obd2
Serial replied to C488ADO's topic in [Archive] Wiki Submissions & Collaboration
OK - I'm most of the way through this conversion now, having got the OBD2 loom installed in the engine bay and connected up. The issue I'm having is that the fuel pump is not starting, so the engine won't fire. On the Corrado loom, Pin 3 of connector G1 (G1/3) is a yellow/blue wire that connects to Pin 6 of the ECU. This is the wire that energises the fuel pump relay. However on the Golf loom, this pin just has a short length of black wire (6") that doesn't go anywhere. If I switch the ignition on and ground this wire, then the fuel pump runs. I did some investigation and found that in the Golf loom, there is a yellow/blue wire, connected to pin 6 of the ECU that leads into the back of the fusebox, but this is terminated in a single yellow blade connector. I tried connecting this to the black wire that goes to G1/3 (so it's wired to the same pin on the ECU as the OBD1 system), however the fuel pump still fails to start. Just wondering if anyone else has had this same problem, and if so, how did you get around it? So close to getting this to work now! Any ideas appreciated... cheers, Tom. -
Hi, do you still have any of these parts available? I'd be interested in making an offer for the Ecu + loom + mani + throttle body + new lambda + 4 pin MAF if you do...
-
Hi, is this still available? Whereabouts are you for collection? Thanks, Tom
-
Sounds good - I'll PM you my details. Supercharged - that's good news. I'll investigate getting a new plug for the bay side of the loom. Cheers Tom

Pretty much all parts from Corrado VR6 available

Hi, how much for the engine loom? From the multi-way plug to all the sensors. Thanks, Tom -
How much would you be looking to sell it for? I'm after the whole OBD1 engine loom from the multi way plug to the various sensors.
-
Hi all... I'm in need of a replacement VR6 OBD1 loom - the multi way connector looks to have got some water in and caused a short, then melted the plastic. I seem to remember some time ago seeing a link to a guy (Bristol way?) who was a VW electrical expert... basically I'd like to get the loom refurbished and wondered if anyone had any ideas who might be able to do this? Thanks, Tom

Took it for it's MOT. Passed - no advisories. Get in!

Thanks for the replies - I bought a new pattern part MAF from eurocarparts for £80 (including a 25% discount) and fitted it this evening - running way better now!

Ok so I've been having some pinking problems with my VR6 recently - but lately the whole car has been running really rough, not idling properly and really down on power. I've done an ECU reset, I unplugged the MAF whilst running - the engine died. Restarted the car and it's running way better - idling pretty steadily and feeling a lot smoother. Still pinks quite a bit under hard acceleration, however. Any thoughts if it's time for a new MAF?

Sounds like a great job you're doing! One question - when you rewired the loom, did you use new terminals for the ends of the wire inside the plugs, or did you re-use old ones? If you used new ones, where did you get them from, and do you have any part numbers for them? -
Thanks RW1 - I'll take a look at the intake as you suggest. Looking at the graph of the 02 Active reading, intermittently it has good readings so I'm thinking it might be dodgy injector or injector wiring. Looks like a loom refurb and injector servicing is on the cards as well. Cheers
-
Hi, I wonder if anyone can tell me what the lambda readings above might mean? Does O2 Active > 1 mean lean or rich mixture? I started the car today and it was really lumpy, definitely firing on only 5 cylinders, then after 30 seconds or so it was running fine... Possibly a sticky injector?? Thanks

I've got a few issues with my VR6, hopefully someone may be able to shed some light on what may be the problem. In general it runs pretty well - starts on the button, pulls well throughout the rev range. However recently the mileage dropped off quite a bit (was getting ~36mpg indicated on steady motorway runs, now it's more like 32-33 at the very best) and it's developed a noticeable pinking between 3000-4000rpm under load. So, I went for a drive at the weekend, hooked up to VAG-COM and logged a few bits of data. Three things seem wrong to me: Firstly, the lambda adapted values look wrong, shouldn't they be closer to 1.000? O2 Idle Part Throttle Full Throttle Active Adapted Value Adapted Value Adapted Value 1.195 1.109 1.055 1.203 So I plotted the O2 Active reading and it basically never goes below 1.000: If I'm right, that value should be fluctuating either side of 1.000, and should average about 1.000. It averages 1.065,and only 85 out of 1128 readings are below 1.000. Finally, I got this error code: 00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation 08-10 - Control Limit Surpassed - Intermittent So I guess the question is, is that the lambda probe that's at fault, or could something else be preventing the reading going below 1? Maf?

Whats the worst thing youve done to ur corrado
Serial replied to CorradoDriver's topic in General Car Chat
Sorted all the suspension components out, replaced everything. Took it to local garage for MOT, chatted to the guys there about what I'd done, they were very impressed. Left saying it'll definitely pass, based on what you've said... come back in the afternoon.... failed, due to BOTH front wheels LOOSE.. I'd forgotten to tighten them back up. D'oh! Very embarrassing...
